David Threlfall reportedly to voice Sorting Hat in HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ series

Variety and Deadline report five first-season roles in HBO’s “Harry Potter”: David Threlfall will voice the Sorting Hat, Leo Bill will play Nearly Headless Nick, Andrew Brooke the Bloody Baron, Daniel Fearn the Fat Friar and Laura Smyth the Fat Lady. The Fat Lady is a portrait, not a ghost. Variety says the season adapts “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” and is scheduled to debut Dec. 25, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max.
