Disney’s live-action “Moana” will stream exclusively on Disney+ starting Oct. 21, according to Deadline and Variety.
Catherine Lagaʻaia makes her film debut as Moana, while Dwayne Johnson reprises his role as the demigod Maui. The story sends Moana beyond the reef of Motunui with Maui on a voyage to restore prosperity to her people.
The supporting cast includes Rena Owen as Gramma Tala, John Tui as Chief Tui, Frankie Adams as Sina and Jemaine Clement as Tamatoa. Familiar characters including Pua, Heihei, the Kakamora and Te Kā also return.
Thomas Kail directed the remake from a screenplay by Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller. Mark Mancina and Lin-Manuel Miranda provided the music.
