Digg App Storage Use

I was checking my iPhone storage and noticed Digg was using 1.3GB. I tried clearing the image cache in Digg and the number stayed the same. Then I deleted and reinstalled and now it’s down to ~100MB. Is this expected? Does the app keep a fixed size cached? Or is this potentially growing without bounds?
