Based on available data and news coverage, the below chart by Reddit user Clemario illustrates how major streaming service subscriptions have become increasingly expensive since 2011.

Streaming service plans differ widely across the platforms analyzed, so to compare them all fairly, the figures used represent the cheapest ad-free plans available to new, US-only subscribers of each service.

Key Findings:

  • Netflix has seen the biggest price jump overall, increasing from just $8 a month in 2011 to $15.50 in 2024.

  • Those who stream on Hulu have also seen their monthly costs grow significantly; subscribers now pay $18 a month for the service, compared to $12 back in 2015.

  • After Hulu, both Paramount+ and Peacock have raised their prices the least overall. Between 2011 and 2024, the platforms each increased their monthly subscription costs by just $2.

  • Max, formerly known as HBO Max, had the highest starting price of any streaming service, costing $15 per month when it launched in 2020. Four years later, subscribers face a monthly price tag of $16.

All I can see is $10+$12+$14+$15.5+$16+$18= $85.50 a month. PLUS the $200 I pay Xfinity for Cable and Internet. in the northeastern US.

I like Hulu and I was able to access it via VPN and the problem here in Brazil is the blocking rule, this is a problem with dirty money in Brazil.
