America: The melting pot of the world. A place where people from every corner of the map can come and enjoy our unique brand of freedom. The US is extremely diverse, and not just in terms of race and ethnicity โ it's also diverse when it comes to types of careers, cultures, religions, economic statuses, educational backgrounds and other characteristics.
To find out which US states are most diverse, WalletHub gathered data on US citizens and their lives (without getting too creepy and intrusive). The six key dimensions analyzed were political diversity (progressive to ultra conservative), religious diversity, household diversity (single/married, age gap, how many people live in a house, etc.), economic diversity, cultural diversity (which includes languages spoken) and socio-economic diversity (household income and highest degree earned).
Key Findings:
-
According to the study, Utah is the most income-diverse state in the US.
-
Massachusetts is the most educationally diverse, in terms of who can attain a degree.
-
When it comes to the most racially and ethnically diverse state, Hawaii ranks first.
-
The most linguistically diverse state overall is California.
