Visual Capitalist's Marcus Lu and Joyce Ma charted the wealth of different US generations to compare the differences in their financial trends. They scanned through 2022's Q4 financial data from the Federal Reserve, which was broken down by assets and liabilities held by each generation.

Between the silent generation, baby boomers, Gen X and millennials, these four collectively hold around $156 trillion, with boomers accounting for half of it. MIllennials, with their $13.3 trillion share, had the smallest amount.

On the liabilities side, the silent generation was the only group to have an amount in the billions ($810B), while Gen X had the highest with $7 trillion, including 74 percent of those tied up in mortgages.
