Based on a recent survey asking more than 9,000 US adults what types of music they listen to, Statista has ranked eight musical genres according to their popularity.

As the graph shows, rock/alternative/indie music is the country's favorite genre, followed closely behind by country music. The least popular genre in the US is folk, with just 15 percent of respondents saying they listen to it.
