Machhapuchhare (Fishtail Mountain)

Machhapuchhare, also known as Fishtail Mountain, is a sacred and unclimbable peak in Nepal. Standing at 6,997 meters, it is unique for being the only mountain in the Himalayas that has never been officially climbed due to its sacred status and a climbing ban. The mountain's distinctive twin summits resemble a fishtail when viewed from the west, hence its English name. Climbing is prohibited as it is considered disrespectful to the Hindu god Shiva, who is believed to reside there. Despite a possible unsanctioned ascent in 1983, the mountain remains officially unclimbed.
