I assume that Bernie Sanders doesn't want to give those 50% shares in AI companies to non-US citizens, which is politically reasonable but intellectually wrong (a world where maybe 3 countries has near-infinite UBI and the rest not is extremely unfair in the normal left sense).

One of the interesting twists of wanting to put democratic control on powerful technologies is of course that everybody is a stakeholder and presumably should have a say - including people in other countries.

Exactly what kind of sharing of risk, benefits and influence that is practically and politically doable remains to be seen. I am not optimistic about global treaties succeeding, but sometimes they do. Sometimes one can create enough of an alliance of the willing that it matters.

Just like I think my proposed moratorium on directed panspermia is unlikely to be permanent, I doubt even a successful treaty banning superintelligence would remain un-amended as we learned more. It would at best produce a healthy slowdown and chance for fine-tuning.
