Numbat's agent monitoring and Portable Computer's on-device sandbox

Perplexity announced in July that it was open-sourcing Numbat, a detection and response layer designed to work across agent harnesses. In September, the company said Numbat monitors coding agents across thousands of its endpoints, works across Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and Pi, and can detect sequences such as reading a secret and then sending data out. Perplexity also said Portable Computer keeps the model and harness on-device. Deterministic code enforces policy, and tools do not run if its sandbox is unavailable.
