given the timescales, we kind of got this technology airdropped on us, rather than getting to co-evolve with it. psychologically it’s like winning the lottery — you suddenly received a bunch of new resources, that you’re unaccustomed to figuring out what to do with. more specifically, coding agents are like winning the time lottery — some tasks that used to take ages are now suddenly near-instant!
we can increasingly get arbitrarily large amounts of work done in arbitrarily short periods of time. what happens to competitive dynamics, when everyone can go arbitrarily fast now? what does that do to one’s sanity? and what is worth spending all this gained time on?
