We Tried Oprah's Favorite Emergency Kit, And We Love It
Every year, the moment Oprah Winfrey shares her much-anticipated Favorite Things list, we scour it to find — and try — the best new brands. This year, there were more than 100 items on the gift guide, from hot sauce to books to earrings. The best part? 2020's list is heavily focused on mission-driven brands.
This year, we tried a handful of items, and our favorite was JUDY, an emergency preparedness kit designed by certified national disaster experts.
60% Of Americans Are Not Prepared For Emergencies
Today, 60% of Americans are not prepared for an emergency. And if 2020 has taught us anything, it's to be prepared for just about anything — whether it's an earthquake, wildfire, hurricane, or pandemic. When I think back to earlier this year, I was completely unprepared for not only the pandemic, but also the wildfires that ravaged California without any warning.
Fast-forward to today, I now have a JUDY that would've kept me safe: my kit includes everything from emergency food and water to KN95 masks, sanitizer, a hand-crank radio, a flashlight, emergency phone chargers and much more. The kit also includes a 119-piece first-aid kit to fix up just about any cut, scratch or bruise.
JUDY's emergency kit was launched by Simon Huck after seeing many of his own friends be negatively impacted by national disasters. He saw that nothing — no matter how much money someone has, where they live, or what they've done in their life — can save someone who is unprepared for an emergency. He wanted to change that.
JUDY Is Designed By Certified Disaster And Emergency Experts
Huck spent two years doing research and speaking with certified national disaster experts from all over the United States to create the perfect emergency kits for at-home use (The Safe) and on-the-go situations (The Mover Max).
In addition to the emergency kits, JUDY also provides SMS alerts for the entire family, with weekly tips and updates on how to be more prepared. In fact, if you're in an area with an upcoming disaster, JUDY will be the first to warn you about it via text. If you have additional questions, you can text JUDY and receive an answer from one of their certified disaster experts.
If that weren't enough, JUDY also donates an eight-piece emergency kit to a family in need, so you can help your family and someone else's, too.
As noted by their 50,000+ happy customers, JUDY's emergency kits will prepare you for the moments you need it most.
Oh, and to celebrate their spot on Oprah's Favorite Things list, JUDY is giving Digg readers a chance to get 20% off a JUDY kit when you use the code DIGG20 at checkout. Click here to get prepared and have JUDY delivered to your door.
