Some LEGO builders are not content to just build the picture on the box. The most determined of these creatives have found a home for their unique builds through LEGO Ideas, where fans submit and vote on original LEGO projects and the winners go on to become actual LEGO sets. Here are five.

Maze Game

This 10-inch by 10-inch marble maze has a tilting platform you control with Technic-based wheels. Build mazes for your marble using the instructions or go off script and make your labyrinth as easy or difficult as you like it. Instructions and pieces for a themed medieval maze are included as well as tips from the builder to inspire your own builds.

Pop-Up Story Book

Open the book and a pop-up storybook scene magically rises to standing. Two scenes are included, a Red Riding Hood scene with grandma's house, and a Jack and the Beanstalk scene with the giant's castle above the clouds. Five new figures come with the set: grandma, Red Riding Hood, the wolf, the giant, and tiny Jack.

Ship In A Bottle

While this brick-built ship in a bottle might not require the same steady hand as the real thing, it's possibly even more fun to build. The ship has a raised deck, cannons, three masts and a crow's nest. The bottle features a buildable cork and stand plus new pieces like the wax-seal and 280 translucent blue pieces representing water.

Steamboat Willie

With the color drained to look like the 1928 black and while Mickey Mouse cartoon, the Steamboat Willie set marked the 90th anniversary of the Disney film. Once built, the boat's steam pipes move up and down and the paddle wheels rotate when the boat is pushed. Two new figures were developed for the set: silvered Mickey and Minnie.

Old Fishing Store

Half the fun comes from building LEGO sets, the other half comes from geeking out over all the intricate details. The Old Fishing Store set has cats, a cash register, harpoons, seagulls, a lookout level up top complete with telescope, crates, crabs, and four minifigures to keep the shop running smoothly.
