      Seriously, why three Elite's and only one human character? 4 player co-op is cool as hell but it's going to take FOREVER to get a group together if there's only one Spartan. I mean, does anyone even like playing as an Elite in Halo 2 Multiplayer?

        • smackhero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1your character model doesn't change the gameplay. having 4 different players actually allows you to choose different weapons to start with and tell each other apart more easily. aside from that, they all have the same stats so regardless of who you choose you will experience the same exact gameplay. unless you're 12 i don't see what the problem is.

    • yarrrjun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0i don't think it's necessarily true that you'll constantly have four player characters while in single player, but a lot the reason people thought Halo: CE was awesome was because of the AI sidekicks. i know that if i had to play the entire thing all by myself, i would have gotten really bored really quickly, since the running speeds are SOOOO SLOWWWW. the AI sidekicks made it worthwhile for me. and from the previews it looks like you'll have a gang of Marines watching your back a lot of the time, especially on the battlefields.

    It's a VERY VERY generic shooter which has really not changed very much at all since introduction. At least with other shooters developers try to change things but here they keep the same characters, the same weapons and the same grainy look.

    • brerfrog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15I have no clue what your talking about when you say grainy, and there are at least 3 or 4 new vehicles, and many more weapons for Halo 3. The characters are mostly the same because it is a story, it's like saying Star Wars story sucked because it had a lot of the same characters, vehicles and weapons. The story itself has completely changed and evolved over the trilogy in both examples.
      As far as being a generic shooter, your right it is very very simple. No advanced cover modes or weapon load-outs no button combos. That's what lots of people love about it, its very easy to just pick up and have fun. Look at the sales of the wii, the ability to just come home after a long day, pick up a controller and jump right in is the "in" thing.

" . Dont get me wrong. I love the story in HL2, but you can't play it over and over. For me that franchise is only playable once. The universe of Halo is so much more flexible with so many options.

          Everybody wanted the pistol and AR back from Combat Evolved, and now Bungie brought them back to get everyone "hyped".
          And then the beta comes out and people are impressed, but the excitement is nearly exhausted, so in comes the rumors of co-op failure
          and POOF that was a rouse to get everyone pumped for the game again by bringing it back.

          Now I'm not a Ps3 fanboy but theirs' a reason why Killzone 2 is so dubed the Halo killer.

    I'm glad for the co-op but the Arbiter and his alien comrades aren't as tough
    as the Spartans. Where the hell is Fred? Linda? etc etc.
    (by the way, the story has steadily fallen since Combat Evolved, they should have left it humans vs. covenant and made NEW environments for the other games, instead of finding another Halo. But lets ruin the second game and only make two levels on earth... *sigh* )

        I've read the books knob, and they're good. It's just the fact that Halo fans have to consult the books to know what the hells going on.
        Going back to a second Halo in the series, was like taking the dinosaurs out of Turok: ruined it.

        Now Bungie is saving the name, with co-op and bringing back combat Evolved Weapons.

However, I love co-op in general, and this is the announcement I was waiting for. Offline co-op wasn't going to cut it for me and since they avoided announcing online I kind of though this wasn't happening. So believe it or not there may still be opportunities for Bungie to draw in some new, though late, fans.

I'm not fond of all of the affectionately called "swag" MS is churning out, but each Halo game has been considerably different from the previous. In fact, the differences of Halo 2 and Halo 1 still spark a lot of debate, mostly from the "hardcore MLG players" who refuse to adjust to a different game. Halo 3 seems to have fixed a lot of Halo 2's problems, and there were a lot of problems. The inclusion of 4 player online co-op is just another feature Bungie's integrating to create a different and better game.

I'd rather have a focused and fun game with 4vs4 (8 total) or 8vs8 (16 total) than a game with 40 players total that would be unbalanced and frustrating.

    Frankly, the best video game experiences I've had (since Goldeneye and Super Smash Bros.) has been halo and halo 2 co-op. Its crazy amounts of fun, i'm pretty sure that's a fact.

    This addition will be nice, I'll probably just end up doing 2 player, but I think its gonna be a good time.

      It's fun but it's not the best on the market, but it's still a game that is a few years and can have a group of friends entertained for hours...

      Why do people hate on Killzone then?
      It's a great game too and just as fun, but because of the adversary between the systems you have to hate one and love the other.
      It's a shame really...

        Killzone 1 was a pretty poor game, I had fun playing through the campaign but most people expected it to be a lot better because it was labled as "The Halo Killer". The enemies had like 4 or 5 lines of dialogue that started to annoy the hell out of me after the first mission. You cant jump. The A.I wasnt very smart... plus I'm sure there are a few other reasons.

        Killzone 2 looks pretty cool though. We'll just have to wait and see.

  • RudMan, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2I would love to see in H3 what they have in Rainbow 6:Vegas. Playing the Terrorist Hunt boards is far more enjoyable than playing co-op campaign. Bungie should do the same thing. Clear X number of aliens from a closed area of a map.

Of course Halo is going to look better on your Mac's monitor than Halo 2 on a 480i TV; the screen has better resolution and is much clearer. In addition, there were graphic improvements made to the PC and Mac versions of the game. I have Halo for both PC and Xbox, and Halo on the PC monitor does look better than Halo 2 on my TV. When I plug the Xbox into my monitor, though, and use the same resolution as the PC, then the Xbox blows the PC away graphically.

If you could do something better graphically beside the already done: Hi-Def, higher poly count, high-res textures, more/better game play modes, more maps, continued story, 4 player co-op. Then please do tell. The art of the halo universe is not based on buildings full of architectural detail and real life places so to say anything besides the already mentioned could be done without deterring from the Halo universe is just simply absurd.

  • ar17452000, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0this is a nice feature however it would have been nice if you could at least be one other marine i mean those guys are friendlies too and i do enjoy there company in the game they make it more fun this feature is awesome but it would be nice to be able to play as the unsung heroes too (Standard marines) i also wonder if any of those charecters will change the story line as it progreeses and if it would have an effect ont eh game

Since it's from Bungie, I'm guessing that were actually going to get it.. Unlike the 4-player co-op rumors that were running around before H Deuce.

    I am seriously pumped for this!
