- analogkid01, on 07/16/2008, -0/+47Drum controllers from "previous games"...right, like Pokemon Snap.
- sonicjosh, on 07/16/2008, -4/+34Let me guess, PS3 owners are getting screwed again with this.Last time around for the PS3 rock Band controllers did not work with GH3 controllers and vice versa; I remember Harmonix coming out with a patch, but... Activision BLOCKED it.
Here is some of my logic on that (this is fiction but the way I would of done it if I got RB first): lets say I own Rock Band and I'm thinking about getting GH3, however, I don't want to pay for another guitar controller. So if the RB controller would of worked with GH3, I would of bought GH3, but since it doesn't I won't buy GH3, and Activision lost a sale, a lesser sale, but still a sale.
I don't even really care anymore as I probably won't be buying anymore GH games since I feel they are nothing without Harmonix, they just don't play the same; I have GH2 and GH3 and I don't play GH3 anymore but I still play GH2, I think GH2 is a better game than GH3. - MrWhite7, on 07/16/2008, -0/+22I wish my Donkey Konga drums would work.
- zdiddy85, on 07/16/2008, -8/+29Good move. Save me some mulah.
i think $60 is still too much for a game... - Mononuclear, on 07/16/2008, -3/+23What? I thought Guitar Hero World Tour was the first game ever to have guitar, drums, and microphone? How can this be possible?
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -1/+20well... that changes things
this will be quite an interesting year for both games/companies - crazyjake, on 07/16/2008, -3/+21i actually like the GH III controller more than the rockband guitar. the rockband one just feels cheeper, i do like how they put the lower buttons there. not to mention the reliability of the GH controller compared to the one for RockBand.
- AutoTom, on 07/16/2008, -0/+17Finally!
Now how about some backwards compatibility? - mywhitenoise, on 07/16/2008, -1/+13I started on Rock Band, my brother-in-law wanted me to try out Guitar Hero III. The characters in GH look like in-bred, meth addicts, who have dinosaur like facial structures.
- VinnieDaMac, on 07/16/2008, -1/+13Smart move cause now instead of getting $0 of my dollars, they'll might at least get $60.
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -3/+15Because the xbox has one system for connecting controllers/peripherals
- Eevee, on 07/16/2008, -3/+14Wow that interface is ugly.
- cygnus2112, on 07/16/2008, -3/+13Yeah. I've decided not to buy anymore Activision games until they withdraw their pack of lawyers from the whole GH3/Rock Band/PS3 scandal. They're just hurting the consumers for greed.
Not a big loss. I actually enjoy Rock Band more and Nyko makes a guitar that's compatible in both GH3 and RB:
http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-3-Frontman-Wirel ... - seraph582, on 07/16/2008, -2/+12Severely cool from a company/franchise I lost respect for when RockBand came out and made fools of them. I may just get the new GH afterall!
- oxymoron69, on 07/16/2008, -0/+9You can with the Rock Band 1 kit for the 360. My son loves to bang on the drums in Windows rather than try and grasp the whole flying coloured bar thing.
The program is simply called Drum Machine. - jlab, on 07/16/2008, -1/+10You were obviously too young to remember the Super Nintendo days when some games cost $70-$75. And this was what, I'm guessing 15 years ago?
- Wickedboss, on 07/16/2008, -0/+9Quote ; There's also a MIDI jack on the back of the drum kit, Bright said, which will allow gamers to play Guitar Hero with any electronic drum kit by simply plugging it into the controller. You can also hook up a second drum pedal if you want to play two bass drums "
Wow , so i can plug my Vdrum to Guitar Hero ! - IllBeBack, on 07/17/2008, -0/+8Stop buying them and the price will drop. It works the same in the USA and in Australia.
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -2/+10So why not PS3?
- Shawn4168, on 07/16/2008, -3/+11I think you're giving them too much credit. Harmonix intentionally designed their controllers to support an open standard...it's Activision that's so insistent on closing off their format to disallow other games to support their controllers. If Activision opens up their controller standards to allow them to be used in Rock Band, then I'll think of them differently, but my guess is that it will be business as usual from them. Oh yeah, and unblocking the Rock Band patch to allow the GH3 guitars would be nice too.
- Spire3660, on 07/16/2008, -0/+8The true irritant is games that come on PS3, 360 and PC. $60 for console version $40 for PC, all released same day (Citing race driver: GRID). Pisses me off.
- JMitch42, on 07/16/2008, -1/+8I wish they would do that for the Wii too...
- ausfahrt, on 07/16/2008, -2/+960 is nothing for that much entertainment. If you get only 10 hours of entertainment it's still a bargain IMO.
- evil-doer, on 07/16/2008, -0/+7"There's also a MIDI jack on the back of the drum kit, Bright said, which will allow gamers to play Guitar Hero with any electronic drum kit by simply plugging it into the controller."
can someone explain this to me? theres a midi jack on the guitar hero drum kit? if you buy the gh drum kit, why do you need another kit? - Typhoon2009, on 07/16/2008, -0/+7No. Control accessories for the 360 all essentially communicate the same with the 360, which is why the GH3 guitar worked with the original Rock Band on the 360. On the PS3 that wasn't the case because the two guitars used their own proprietary RF dongles instead of the built-in Bluetooth in the PS3...
- AutoTom, on 07/16/2008, -6/+12$119 here in australia, even more for guitar hero.
quit your complaining. - machocheese34, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6not to mention the lamest drummer animations of all time
- spidoman, on 07/17/2008, -0/+6Like USB?
- Snoosy, on 07/16/2008, -1/+7I think you missed the reply button...
- no_root_toe, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6No but if you have a midi drum kit you want to use why be forced to buy the gh drum kit just for the midi port? the point of being able to use midi drums is so that you dont have to have the gh drum kit
- Funyn, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6Really nothing. On the Rock Band drum controller the yellow is both a drum and the high hat, I assume that's what they'll do when they compress the notes.
- spidoman, on 07/16/2008, -0/+5Agreed, GH:TW didn't really do anything, Harmonix did the work, Activision is taking the credit.
- shondell, on 07/16/2008, -0/+5CHANGE *****!
- Mononuclear, on 07/16/2008, -1/+6If you didn't get it, my comment is referring to the interview with the guy from activision (or red octane not sure) who says that Guitar Hero World Tour was the first and the interviewer says "It's called Rock Band I think". I will try to find the video clip or if someone has it please post it.
Here is link http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid45 ... - mywhitenoise, on 07/16/2008, -0/+5well the people who made Rock Band are also the people who made Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II.
Even then, they still weren't the first ones to make a guitar based game. - dhVyse, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4It makes me sad that they had to confirm this. I'd be mighty pissed if my 2 Guitar Hero guitars and Rock Band drumset didn't work with any Guitar Hero or Rock Band game
- sonick, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4Can you do vice versa and hookup the Guitar Hero drum kit to a computer and use it as an electronic drum kit?
now THAT would be awesome. - machocheese34, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4yeah but the best part is i can get this game now without buying another set of drums
- JigoroKano, on 07/17/2008, -0/+4I bought the Nyko guitar and picked up used copies of Rockband and GHIII.
If they can't play nice, they don't get my money. - wwwdot1jesdotus, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4When he says "it's the first time you will have drums...etc" he is referring to the guitar hero franchise, not the industry. People make it out as if he's never heard of Rock Band. Come on.
- mywhitenoise, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4Wish they'd make GH guitars compatible with Rock Band for PS3.
I like the design of the fender better, love the solo buttons, hate the buttons that pop out on the GH guitars, but the strum and whammy bars are a lot better for GH guitars,. - oxymoron69, on 07/16/2008, -1/+5***** yeah!
Now I can burn a copy of the new guitar hero game and not have to try and pretend it doesn't exist while only playing rock band. - evil-doer, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3ya. i was hoping to use that ion rock band 2 kit with both games. i hope they add support for that.
- coadyj, on 07/16/2008, -0/+3Cool, well you dont see that everyday. Hopefully the ps3 will do the same
- inactive, on 07/17/2008, -2/+5Like real rock stars!
- StolenLamp, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3You have it backwards. I use my Guitar Hero 3 Les Paul with Rock Band, but that's only on the 360. They ***** up negotiations with the PS3 version, and you're left in the dark.
- StolenLamp, on 07/17/2008, -1/+4You do realize that the Rock Band team made Guitar Hero 1&2 right?
- evil-doer, on 07/17/2008, -0/+3you cant plug it into guitar hero. you can plug it into the guitar hero drum kit. which you need to buy.
