- RollandoMota, on 10/10/2007, -14/+512Halo effect.
- eatkitten, on 10/10/2007, -32/+287I got a 360 in January of 2006. Got the red ring of death yesterday. Awesome.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -9/+133Servers are fine now. 90k playing currently... at 1:22am (EST).
- DSEZ, on 10/10/2007, -5/+96this morning at 4am....there were 121k playing team slayer alone....thre had to have been over a mil on last night at launch
- manifestdata, on 10/10/2007, -17/+93Title isn't just misleading, it is wrong. Before you idiots copy and paste a link you found on your sisters blog, at least login to xbox live and try it out. Played last night for 4 hours, across multiple game types just fine. The number of players playing is just incorrect, HOLY *****.
- Shakermaker, on 10/10/2007, -5/+79Well, some of us do have to go to work, sleep, or live in different time zones, smartass.
- DiggsOnlyNeoCon, on 10/10/2007, -6/+70Sorry to hijack, but I too was having the system update problem. REMOVE YOUR DISC FROM YOUR BOX. And it worked. First try. Took me 4 hours to figure out.
- mugginns, on 10/10/2007, -7/+52It worked fine, not really sure what this article is talking about. I played for at least 12 hours yesterday.
- inajeep, on 10/10/2007, -5/+50Title misleading.
Your able to play it's just the stats on # of people playing are aren't coming back accurate. No big deal. - Bleedxout, on 10/10/2007, -2/+41i had 15 ppl on my XBL at 2am.... 9 were on playing Co-op online.
- ripstuntz, on 10/10/2007, -2/+40With over 1,121,000 UNIQUE players in the past 24 hours this surprises you how?
- Butros, on 10/10/2007, -2/+38haha my finger hovered over the digg down button before I saw the quotation marks. Yeah I never thought I'd say this, I sympathize with msft 100%. They are forging new ground here folks as far as networking goes.
- MWeather, on 10/10/2007, -9/+44If I pay to rent a car and it won't run, I'll bitch. If I pay for food that turn out to be inedible, I'll bitch. And if I pay for an online service I can't use to get online, you're damn right I'll bitch.
But if I pay for a console that dies on me multiple times, I'll praise the manufacturer for extending the warranty. - DiggsOnlyNeoCon, on 10/10/2007, -8/+43Please, digg me down for offering good advice.
- Sublimin4L, on 10/10/2007, -9/+43"This is a service we PAY for that doesn't work? WTF is this? I hope Microsoft reps get violently raped and killed for not keeping a service up and working 100% of the time."
Wow. - terminalpariah, on 10/10/2007, -1/+29The matchmaking worked fine. I was able to play all night with only a few glitches, but the friends list was extremely slow. Also, the Halo service record and Marketplace were down for the count.
- Dialsoft, on 10/10/2007, -6/+34Works just fine for me. Ive seen no problems with xbox live.
- msaunds83, on 10/10/2007, -5/+31Mine red ringed when I put Halo 3 in, lasted about 5 minutes and then it crashed. 2nd time for me. First one red lighted after downloading updates for Halo 2...I think I'm seeing a pattern here...Halo hates me.
- cpalmer74, on 10/10/2007, -23/+4650k users online now...so 5% are able to play now. W00t! 1 million sold already?
- jrbrewin, on 10/10/2007, -4/+26indeed. just opening the wii store always makes me think it's crashed by how long it takes. yawn!

UNSC Campaign Kill Count: 401,921,378 - Godlesswanderer, on 10/10/2007, -4/+26Yes, a very nice service. Cheap online play, great games, demos and trailers; and very few crashes since its launch.
- munkyxtc, on 10/10/2007, -4/+25if $3/mo is too rich for your blood you are just flat out cheap.
- jmreid, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22It was cool to see the map showing people online light up as the time zones changed to midnight across North America.
- GawtMilk, on 10/10/2007, -11/+31If I rent a car and it stalls the eighth time I drive it, I won't bitch. If I pay for food every day for a year and it's good, yet one day the fries are soggy, I won't bitch. If I pay for an online service and it's great, but one day it goes down, I won't bitch [XBox Live, Steam].
- cyclonesworld, on 10/10/2007, -4/+24Things break, it happens. You can't really test if the network can handle a bazillion users at once until you actually have them. I'm sure they were anticipating some problems. ***** happens.
- Kericr, on 10/10/2007, -6/+25And now, BREAKING NEWS: Yes, ***** tends to break once in a while. Suck it up you pansies.
- scottie924, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20I got it last monday. so I had to buy one from wal-mart and they say that the return policey is 90 days. *crosses fingers*. I hope I can do that until my other one is returned from MS.
- steelclash84, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19If this isn't sarcasm, read your EULA, which specifically states that they do not guarantee 100% up time.
- donjuan571, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19i played the entire time straight on xbl, and everything was great just noticed their # of people online was not right, at one time it said there were 90 people in TS but we all know thats just silly.
- weeeezzll, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20Routine maintenance on the release day for Microsoft's number one game? I don't think anyone is dissing MS for this, mostly just amazed that the popularity of Halo3 was enough to bring down the giant. When it comes to large networks, huge server farms and monster internet connections, Microsoft is one of the biggest. They handle pumping out patches and updates several Megabytes in size to 95+% of the worlds computers without a hiccup.
- dysonlu, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18A red ring to counter the Halo effect. Brilliant Microsoft!
- GenericJoshman, on 10/10/2007, -4/+20Halowned
- weeeezzll, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19From the linked to message board:
"Yes, there's a problem!!!
Update failed. Can't download the update.
Check your connections? How about they check their connection? Seems like its down."
lol - Coffeedemon, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17Munky: cut the kid some slack. I remember when my job was a paper route - times were tough.
- ericrous, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15John from Cincinnati will be gone soon.
- djSyndrome, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15Dude, were you born a complete douche or is it a trait you picked up later in life?
- Farik, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15Welcome to the club, enjoy your stay.
- randall311, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14seriously, you mean when you pay for Cable or Internet that is up 100% of the time. Some people are never satisfied. Not to mention this was just a problem reporting the number of users, and xbox live didn't go down.
- scrytch, on 10/10/2007, -8/+20Buried... no issues for me over the entire reported period.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Ya I thought the same thing. When I first got on there were about 12k people playing, almost all on the East Coast. I watched it creep westward and it peaked around 120k that night. The highest I saw it the next day was around 310k.
- arthritisankle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12My friend's box started freezing every time he tried to play it and MSFT said that they wouldn't replace it. It seems the RRoD is the only failure mode with the extended warranty. We taped up the vents and left it on for about an hour and luckily got it to RRoD.
- cawpin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12If you get near the end and don't think yours will be back, just return it, RETURN IT. Then go to the back of the store and buy another one. Poor man's extended warranty.
- Shorties, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12The Halocaust is here
- adrocknaphobia, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14Buried. I was playing throughout that time and there were 100k+ gamers online. Citing a blog post as fact is never a good idea. Is this a news site? or a gossip corner?
- hockey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Bah, I was thinking "is that all"
- ericrous, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Unique Players (Last 24 Hours): 1,213,536
Man, that's getting into some crazy World of Warcraft numbers! - chaosium, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Yes, I'm surprised the servers didn't ACTUALLY collapse.
- Exhaust, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Dude the ***** title says "Xbox Live collapses" but it didn't. 2 douches with ***** connections couldn't connect break out the waahburgs and French crys.
- hockey, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Normally someone at this time would pipe in and say "121k at 4 am. . geez get a life"
To that I say bullocks, 121k at 4 am is AWESOME. -
