- aftern9ne, on 08/12/2008, -4/+92Coincidentally, all those games suck.
- michaelrsa, on 08/12/2008, -11/+96Add one more, Team Fortress 2. Almost never enough people there, just not as fun as the pc version.
- wontstoptalking, on 08/12/2008, -7/+75This is a very interesting read.
I've always marveled at the fact that at any time of day, during any holiday, no matter when....there is always someone available to play Gears of COD4 or Halo 3. It surprises me. - mywhitenoise, on 08/12/2008, -13/+73This is why I don't get when people say single player games like Ratchet, Uncharted, or Bioshock should have included multi-player. Why? Most of the crowd flocks to one multi-player game, and ignores the rest. Multi-player games don't hold their value, a good single player campaign does.
- rebirf, on 08/12/2008, -0/+59Lots of people don't like their families.
- xkingADROCKx, on 08/12/2008, -2/+61Oh the irony!
- AwesomeMonster, on 08/12/2008, -11/+60Buried all of you for saying nothing more than why you buried or dugg somebody. Way to contribute.
- mattyice11, on 08/12/2008, -2/+4916 max on console and 32 max on PC. Have you ever played either version?
- inactive, on 08/12/2008, -10/+44it's called time zone
- Namakemono, on 08/12/2008, -0/+28You marvel at the fact that people are online during those times while actually being online during those times.
- Burns7007, on 08/12/2008, -3/+30Team Fortress 2 is great on the 360. I always find games and its the one I play the most. BTW max amount of players is actually 16.
- shlemielo, on 08/12/2008, -3/+30"Multi-player games don't hold their value, a good single player campaign does."
I don't agree with this at all. Look at how many people are still playing CS and Starcraft. Heck, I still LAN Halo:CE from time to time. How many people are still playing Max Payne? - Chris1280, on 08/12/2008, -24/+48Well its kinda to the point that, you cant force people to play games they dont want to. and will be the same for the PS3 ( if they had enough online games ) and any other console. heck even the PC can suffer but very rarely.
- HolyChimp, on 08/12/2008, -2/+25I'm British and I've never seen the word 'miaowing'. I've never seen 'meowing' either, but maybe I just don't spend enough time blogging about my cat.
It's one of those words where either is acceptable, and maybe we just like to complicate words to confuse the Americans (see centre and colour), although I just asked my cat and she said it's spelt 'miaow'. - Pecheckler, on 08/12/2008, -42/+65Perhaps it is because the PC versions of any first person shooter is superior to their console counterparts.
I'm sorry if it offends you... but FPS + console controller = fail - supertom, on 08/12/2008, -1/+23Yep.
- mrsammercer, on 08/12/2008, -4/+26I was just playing TF2 on 360 a couple weeks ago and had no trouble finding games.
- Tyler2tall147, on 08/12/2008, -2/+23I'm suprised Marvel UA is dead, considering it use to come with xbox's, I would think there would be TONS of people on it
- tito13kfm, on 08/12/2008, -13/+33Miaowing? Is that seriously how brits spell meowing?
- christof53, on 08/12/2008, -2/+22Phantasy Star Online...for gamecube.
- drbonemonkey, on 08/12/2008, -1/+21I bought worms from the live arcade thinking I could battle people from around the globe and to my surprise there was not a single person around to play against.
- DrZmobie, on 08/12/2008, -1/+20Chromehounds?
- chrisj33, on 08/12/2008, -3/+21I was more surprised that a "cricket" and "snooker" game existed.
- dig1x, on 08/12/2008, -5/+23Its vastly better than the PSN alternative.
When the game's publisher/dev decides, they pull the servers, and the game goes dead. With Xbox LIVE, the only problem is that people -dont-want-to-play-.
I'll pay $3 per month to keep my Online options open, I'll decide what to play. - dafragsta, on 08/12/2008, -7/+25I've played mostly XBOX 360 games for the past year. I've tried, but I agree; the gamepad sucks balls for aiming, even with that cheating-ass autoaim ***** that most 360 FPS games have.
- vawksel, on 08/12/2008, -7/+24Agreed
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 08/13/2008, -1/+18Gears of COD4? Sign me up!
- daveyWSS, on 08/12/2008, -6/+23gears of cod4?
wtf - whiteknives, on 08/12/2008, -1/+16I wonder how Crimson Skies is doing.
- Farmer77, on 08/12/2008, -0/+15But that's on a computer though...
- kingmanic, on 08/12/2008, -5/+20"heck even the PC can suffer but very rarely."
Rarely? You haven't played any old PC games eh? With few exceptions the communities fade to 0 after a few months. the most notable exceptions are blizzard games and CS. - mustang460, on 08/12/2008, -1/+14so that makes two reasons to not include them in xbox360's dead games list
- lordsandwich, on 08/13/2008, -2/+14I'm guessing it's a loulcat.
- ricky125, on 08/12/2008, -1/+12Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.
- Thorpe, on 08/12/2008, -0/+11Hmm. I remember playing SSX 3 online for PS2 back in 2005. Had about 5 people on at one time every night I played. It was mainly the same people too. So, it was kinda cool having our own little community.
As for Xbox LIVE, I am surprised to see some on Ridge Racer 6 still (although they're mainly Japanese from looking at their profiles). Even Test Drive Unlimited has people online (since, if you're connected to Xbox LIVE), you automatically see others on the road, when in single player. Of course, this can be turned off in the options.
The only slight annoyance, is some achievements basically becoming useless to earn for some online titles. So, I praise titles that have more focus on the single player achievements rather than having a 50/50 split between single-player and multiplayer achievements. Not that achievements should be taken too seriously. Just my two cents. - landosystem, on 08/13/2008, -1/+12Snooker? I barely know her!
- Synn, on 08/13/2008, -1/+11Is there always someone who when they see anyone talking about a console FPS...they say to themselves "I guess I better tell everyone how the PC is better." And then proceed to do so?
- bloodomen13, on 08/12/2008, -1/+11Robotic dog fetish?
- tenio, on 08/12/2008, -6/+15PC games hardly ever die!
people continue to play old games even ones from 2000 - punkcat, on 08/12/2008, -0/+9so you are surprised to see everyone online but yourself?
- BedPost, on 08/12/2008, -0/+9I regularly play TF2 on the 360 - in fact, I just got the 1000 kills achievement. It's awesome - definitely one of the driving forces compelling me to upgrade my PC.
- ByteGuerilla, on 08/12/2008, -0/+9This has been an issue on the Internet since games came out.
- bluenash, on 08/12/2008, -1/+9I'm still playing Halo 1 for pc. There's still plenty of people populating the servers.
- mgrest, on 08/12/2008, -2/+10Yeah, our cats speak differently to yours.
They're harder too. - inactive, on 08/13/2008, -0/+8@Mpwns
It's so the admin of the server can get in if its full - inactive, on 08/12/2008, -0/+8Wasn't that the only game to ever use the modem? Ep 1 and 2 bundle that is...
- rohanch, on 08/12/2008, -0/+8The games are still available to play online... it's just there's nobody there to play with.
I think most multiplayer 360 games support "system link" anyway, which is just playing over a normal ethernet network. There's tunneling software to let you play system link over the internet too, but hardly anyone uses it. - mustang460, on 08/12/2008, -1/+9I think he means on consoles rather than pc's
good multilayer pc games keep thriving communities for many years where as on consoles it tends to be a mass exodus to the next big game(s)
which kills replay value can't play a multiplayer game with no players - davidrools, on 08/12/2008, -0/+8check the bathroom
- digitaldivinci, on 08/12/2008, -1/+9I was one of those who actually bought Beautiful Katamari. The most people I ever ran into online were 16. This was about a month after it launched.
I don't think that died as much as it never began. -
