- whatthefu, on 12/11/2007, -7/+104I don't see why people dislike Crackdown. I thought it was really fun to play.
- BrettTheUser, on 12/11/2007, -6/+87BioShock
Freakin amazing! That’s all that can be said. It’s stunning to look at, the controls are spot on and the story is very good. This is one of the most mind-blowing games ever. The atmosphere is perfect and I never once felt disconnected from the game. This is the type of game that will show you why you bought that HD TV and Bose speaker system. Do you have that friend who can’t understand what’s so great about video games? Sit them down in front of this game and watch them as they realize what they’ve been missing.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Possibly the greatest game ever created. I found myself spending many hours just wandering in search of chance encounters and hidden caves to explore. The Game of the Year Edition has the original game along with the Nights of the Nine and the expansion Shivering Isles. This game has been out for a while on PC and Xbox 360, but it never loses appeal or replay value. I’ve played through about 4 times now and every time I choose a new character and do everything in a different order. I doubt I’ll ever grow tired of playing it.
Halo 3
I loved Halo and I kinda liked Halo 2, but Halo 3 is definitely where it’s at. Great graphics, sound and animation. Nice smooth controls and lots of action. Weapons and vehicles were as good as expected and the whole experience was as fun as the first. Now here is my favorite part… online co-op play. OMG! Now, I like getting my ass kicked by 12 year olds as much as anyone else, but when you get some friends and play through the campaign together ON YOUR OWN SCREENS it makes a good game even better. I hate playing split screen for a lot of reasons and don’t actually want to see where everyone is and what they are doing. It adds to the excitement and the tension.

Rock Band
What an awesome experience. This game allows you to play Guitar, Bass, Drums, or vocals. The full blown purchase gets you the drum kit, guitar and a microphone. It’s easy to figure out why it’s more desirable than Guitar Hero III, but put the instruments down for a second. Check out the songs list. It’s incredible. If you only compared Apples to Apples here and played the songs through on guitar, Rock Bands wins out. The songs are awesome and the downloads offer even more (Black Sabbath, Metallica, The Police...).
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
I’m not saying GH3 isn’t good. It’s an awesome game. The songs are great as well. It’s like playing GH2 with new songs. And that’s fine with me since I really loved GH2. This release steps it up and really kicks ass. Not everyone is happy about the “Boss” battles, but if you can’t beat them, you can still move on through the game.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
WOW. All I can say is WOW! I have been a COD fan for a while. I thought that COD2 was going to be hard to beat, but beat it they did. Into submission. This game is so intense and exciting, I found it hard to get to sleep after playing it. In fact, a couple of nights went by with no sleep at all. I tried. I’d turn off the game and go lie down. Then about 15 minutes later I’d be up again playing. It’s that good…
Assassin's Creed
It’s no Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, but it’s still an awesome game. Everything is right about this game. The controls, the environment, the animation. It looks amazing. There is a lot of story to be had here and it might feel at times like your watching more than playing, but it’s worth it. Just stand on a rooftop and look around. This game actually plays out my favorite part of Oblivion; the Dark Brotherhood. You are given “targets” to eliminate throughout the game, and you choose the way you would like to carry out the orders. There are side missions and goals along the way (like finding flags in the way you found packages in GTA). Dark room + HD TV + surround sound = Long Nights…
Gears of War
I loved this game the moment I started playing it. Some things bothered me at first like the fact that is was third person and it was pretty linier and not very open ended, but that quickly gave way when the action started. It’s a blur when I think back on it. So much happened so quickly. Co-op was a blast and that’s where a lot of the fun comes from. It was great when you got into a bit of trouble and had to yell to your buddy to bail you out. Especially since the reason you were in so much trouble was because you just got done bailing HIM out! Level design, creatures, weapons, and controls are all top notch.
Mass Effect
Action First Person Shooter meets Role Playing Game. On top of that it's made by the same people that did Star Ware Knights of The Old Republic, Bioware. I love games where your decisions actually matter. Yeah it has its warts like every game out there. But this game is a sci-fi geek's dream come true.
Crackdown
This is like GTA meets Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. You’re a super cop whose job it is to get rid of the gangs plaguing the city. You collect orbs that add to your attributes making you faster and stronger and better with firearms and driving or jump higher and make bigger explosions. This game is so much fun and so addictive that it’s almost impossible to stop playing. Get this game and then get a friend to get this game then get online and play co-op. It’s a blast! The two of you will wreak so much havoc and have so much fun, you may never sleep again. I remember climbing up a building and looking out across the city and seeing a huge explosion in the distance with flaming bodies and cars launching into the sky from the street below. I yelled into my microphone to my friend, “HEY! Wait for me!!” as I jumped from rooftop to rooftop to join in on the fun. Good times… - jjb123, on 12/11/2007, -2/+63No orange box!? What is this madness?
- Dreamscar, on 12/11/2007, -5/+54What the hell is with all these pointless mannpill articles making it to digg?
- lordwow, on 12/11/2007, -5/+44Oh effin Christ. I have all 10. I am officially a loser.
- Tserk, on 12/11/2007, -17/+52Crackdown is worthy of a top 5 mention in any Xbox GOTY discussion and certainly is worthy of a top 10 games you should own for the platform.
- chadtatro, on 12/11/2007, -2/+34i win! i got error 500!
- Sornos, on 12/11/2007, -1/+32A shame at that. It was a fantastic game. A little shallow, but fun was there to be found. I had a great time with it.
- Dustgunner, on 12/11/2007, -1/+29This needs Dead Rising, The Orange Box, Rainbow Six Vegas, and a few others.
- Natetendo83, on 12/11/2007, -23/+51Crackdown? Oh yea, that game that sold because it had the Halo 3 beta
- KMartSheriff, on 12/11/2007, -5/+29I'm sure I'll get dugg down for this, but Bioshock wasn't as amazing as everyone makes it out to be. I mean it was good, sure, but nothing groundbreaking.
- lawngnomes4pres, on 12/11/2007, -0/+16well thats one way to mirror... thanks
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -4/+20Orange box over halo 3 anyday
- sinurgy, on 12/11/2007, -2/+18All Bungie needs to do is create a bundle that has Halo 1, 2 and 3 as well as some puzzle game. Then wait a couple of years and release it. Then we can hear everyone whine about how Gears of War 2 is way over hyped and how it's really all about the Green Box!!
- robwolf100, on 12/11/2007, -1/+16Is Rock Band a must have game? I don't have enough floor space in my room to set the game up. Plus I don't know anyone who I would really want to hear sing.
- npsken, on 12/11/2007, -1/+15Why aren't the Burger King games on this list?
- mywhitenoise, on 12/11/2007, -5/+19Bose speaker system? BOSE SPEAKER SYSTEM!?
***** THAT! I sold my piece of ***** Acoustimass system (I was young, dumb, and my room is small) to some other dumbass for $500. Bought 5 speakers that sound 3x better than those pieces of crap with the money. I will never buy Bose again.
It's true what other users say Buy Other Stereo Equipment. No highs, no lows? Must be Bose. - Import98, on 12/11/2007, -4/+17Orange Box is best on PC. At least IMO.
- KompressorV12, on 12/11/2007, -0/+13thanks for letting us know what games you have and your intentions of picking them up in the future... the people reading these comments are now much better off than they were before spending the time to read this post
- P373Y, on 12/11/2007, -0/+10i was thinking about making a comment like that, but then i thought. what kind of a d-bag would do something stupid like that, then i saw your comment.
- kingdomdude, on 12/11/2007, -1/+11I don't care what anyone says I like Crackdown.
There are a lot of great FPS games, but not a lot of sandbox platforming super cop games. What it lacked in variety it made up for in Co-Op and plain old fashion fun. - Memnochxx, on 12/11/2007, -0/+10How much are PS3 games, and what are you talking about? You're a retard.
- Pic0, on 12/11/2007, -3/+12ban manpill, their ***** never works
- fubuvsfitch, on 12/11/2007, -2/+11I don't trust anything this guy says if he thinks "everything is right" about Assasin's Creed. Furthermore, I don't put any stock in what this guy thinks if he can't tell the difference between First Person and Third Person Shooters. (See Mass Effect).
- ScottoGato, on 12/11/2007, -0/+7Sports games really aren't for everybody. They're really for those sports fans that love to play games. Even then, you'll have those who want the arcade feel where you can juke your way through a 8-man front and score the 80-yard touchdown while high-stepping...and there are those who want the sports simulation.
This years Madden was horrible. I played maybe a couple games, and gave up on it...this coming from a guy that wears out every football game he owns. I ended up buying NCAA Football after this years Madden failure. - Kayisadinosaur, on 12/11/2007, -7/+14I'M SICK OF TOP 10's.
- Fox318, on 12/11/2007, -1/+8Sorry for comment abuse but upon thinking Rainbow 6 Vegas is better than Graw2.
- GibitStylin, on 12/11/2007, -0/+7Orange box is wonderful on the 360.... I prefer a mouse, but i am still good on consoles... If for no reason alone, u should put the orange box on this list for PORTAL.
- stev31h, on 12/11/2007, -0/+7Unlimited Video Game Rentals FTW!
- inactive, on 12/11/2007, -2/+8I had more fun with Crackdown...the online Co-Op gave it the edge over Assassin's IMO
- Jeffler, on 12/11/2007, -0/+6No love for NHL 07 or 08? Yes, I know its EA, yes, I know its hockey, but the Skill Stick is honestly the best control system I've ever used for any game, ever. Why EA hasn't put it in EVERY sports game they own confuses me...(the entire game is controlled more or less by the analog sticks and RT)
- staticblake, on 12/11/2007, -0/+6Can you please elaborate?....Wait nevermind Sony fanboys make no sense. How can you champion a game console that provides and inferior gaming experience? At least you have Home coming.....oh and LittleBigPlanet. Talk about your killer apps.
- Dorepoll, on 12/11/2007, -0/+6My PC doesn't run games (I know, but money is tight), so I own a few of these games on XBOX360. That said, I'm happy with how well they are porting them.
- jtq1, on 12/11/2007, -3/+9Halo 3 doesn't deserve to be in the top ten list of games 360 owners should have? really?
- betterth, on 12/11/2007, -0/+6Attaching mirror to top dugg comment :p
http://72.14.209.104/search?hs=sUq&hl=en&lr=&c2cof ... - zenerdiode, on 12/11/2007, -3/+8How's anybody gonna take your list seriously if you're actually proud of a BOSE system?
- DocDEB, on 12/11/2007, -0/+5I bought it only because of the Halo 3 beta. While waiting for the beta decided I might as well have a look at what I bought and ended up playing Crackdown instead of Halo 3 beta. I got my money's worth. Now pardon me while I jump to that roof top over there.
- logicbus, on 12/11/2007, -0/+5Amazon referrals.
- screwfanboys1, on 12/11/2007, -1/+6holy ***** they're gonna bury your ass
- lotar732, on 12/11/2007, -0/+5Agreed. By the end of the article I was expecting a Kane & Lynch GOTY nomination.
- guinnessfool, on 12/11/2007, -0/+5I liked this guy's style. He managed to capture the breathless enthusiasm usually only heard from six year olds describing recent trips to the zoo.
- betterth, on 12/11/2007, -1/+6...?
Right, spend all the extra money on superfluous features we don't want. Wireless internet is inherently laggy, HD-DVD is nice, but totally unrequired for GAMING, and we already have harddrives, wireless controllers and a much better online experience. So tell me, what does the PS3 offer that's so much better? It's certainly not your games. - inactive, on 12/11/2007, -0/+5It needed more things to do on the side and it was pretty short. I still enjoyed it though.
- schoate09, on 12/11/2007, -2/+7Lets see
Blu-ray: Yet to see proof why this is required. HD-DVD add on is only for movies.
Cell+RSX: Yet to see the "superiority" 360 has the best looking games
Wireless: Unnecessary, and useless for intense gaming. Wireless is too laggy for online games.
Home: A useless glitter that will probably get boring soon after release.
Games: 360 takes it.
Online: Sure, 360 costs money, but it's a vastly superior service. - skubiszm, on 12/11/2007, -3/+8Or you can spend $600 for a PS3 with no games!
- fotodevil, on 12/11/2007, -1/+6I'm sick of any list that isn't a multiple of 5 (e.g. top 9s, top 48s, etc).
- Ubergoober3, on 12/11/2007, -0/+5Does this article just scream "I'm just some bored gamer with too much time on their hands!"?
- fubuvsfitch, on 12/11/2007, -1/+5Wrong. There are TONS of new things in the multiplayer that make it far superior to 2.
- Gadwin, on 12/11/2007, -0/+4What happened to Viva Pinata?
- DarkShroud, on 12/11/2007, -2/+6Most people hyping the game have never played PC FPS games, especially Bioshock's predecessor System Shock.
