- Masna, on 08/05/2008, -9/+89Or you could ship it into microsoft and get a new one.
- sterntastic223, on 08/05/2008, -4/+45The fake female companion is creepy/funny as hell. Terrifying use.
- joegravelyn, on 08/05/2008, -2/+36I would love to have a safety box that looks like a 360.
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -12/+43Why are you using the dollar sign for an S? Are you trying to imply that Microsoft are a money hungry corporation that cares about nothing but filling their filthy gobs with more money?
Or are you just trying to be like "Anonymous" and refer to Scientology as $cientoloy so you can say "Oh yeah, I invented that"
You sir are a r£tard. (See, I can do it too) ^_^ - badwithcomputer, on 08/05/2008, -5/+33just buy a 360...and wait.
- Jeremyz0r, on 08/06/2008, -8/+3130%+* You really believe MS's BS with that 16%? :p
- RobotDan, on 08/06/2008, -3/+24What does the PS3 have to do with this article again?
- inactive, on 08/06/2008, -0/+18Actually I was thinking the massive simultaneous failures of 360's nationwide caused the earthquake.
- decepticrat, on 08/05/2008, -3/+20World's Saddest Kite! I spewed liquid just then.. good work :D
- ThePhotoBoy, on 08/05/2008, -5/+21How about using a RROD 360 to keep cup of java warm. It' both smart styling and at the same time very green.
- snoonoo, on 08/05/2008, -3/+19I'm a back port man.
- Jeffler, on 08/06/2008, -0/+15***** the Red Rings, I want to know why the hell they've offered no extension on the DVD-ROM issue that though not as bad as the RROD is the clear cut #2 issue. Oh, I know why - it usually happens just after your warranty is up.
I've been playing nothing but demos on my 360 due to not wanting to pay $110 for something that broke 3 days after warranty with no help from MS...been about 6 months now. I did manage to play through some of GTA IV, but within 2 days I couldn't use the disc again on this 360 (all my discs play flawlessly elsewhere though). - rhesusattack, on 08/05/2008, -2/+16When mine dies, I'm going to turn it into a waffle iron.
- chrisvc86, on 08/06/2008, -2/+1616%? yeah right. more like 95% for 1st gen's.
- artofficial, on 08/06/2008, -0/+14I didn't know they had 360's in prison.
- TdotFUNK, on 08/05/2008, -4/+18I traded mine in for a DS.....EB Games wouldn't give me cash.
- Murdats, on 08/06/2008, -0/+14nice, I propose to to complement M$ we start using Appl£, or even better Appl€
- Tophillious, on 08/06/2008, -5/+18I'm so glad my launch 360 is still hangin in there somehow.
- BlueSkyfish, on 08/06/2008, -5/+17It draws the fanboys like moths to a flame.
- DarkDx, on 08/06/2008, -1/+13Wat.. well I guess you didn't got RROD because there's a 3 year guarante for that so it means that if he bought it at launch you still have guarantee for that. I hope you knew that lol.
- idc5, on 08/06/2008, -0/+11"It’s like screwing your hot new girlfriend in front of your comatose wife." best thing I've read all day
- jc265, on 08/06/2008, -0/+10I don't know about you all, but I plan on using mine as a kite.
Seriously tho, I've had 4 consoles. I'm shocked this last one has lasted so long. I plan on getting the Lian Li 360 case when it comes out to prolong the life of my box. - mamboboy, on 08/06/2008, -5/+15Cant load the article at the moment, but I, too, have suffered the glorious RROD.
Microsoft support were superb though - even though my 360 was bought second hand and with no proof of purchase, they still agreed to repair it - they replaced the motherboard, gave it a new faceplate and a free month of live gold. All done in 2 weeks, having to travel from Western Europe to the East, and all paid for by them!
My only beef is that they changed the DVD drive to the super loud, unflashable one - there was nothing wrong with the old one, but it was to stop me trying to flash it, I guess.
So yeah, the 3 year extended warranty for the RROD of death is very good IMO and I cannot fault Microsoft's service.
A majority of companies do not give two ***** once the warranty is up. They have your money and that's all that matters! - the plastic headphone cover fell off my 60 GB Creative Zen for example - a month or two after the expiry had run out. Now when I plug headphones in, it causes a short and switches the player off.
I emailed them asking if there's anything at all they can do, even if it's just sending out the tiny bit of plastic that I need. They sent me an automated email back offering me a 'discount' on a new player. Something ridiculous like £180 for an 8GB MP3 player. A few pounds off.
Thanks to that example of excellent example of shining support, my next mp3 Player will be made by Apple. - nixpix66, on 08/05/2008, -5/+15As a Xbox 360 fanboy- this was ***** hilarious.
- ocharry, on 08/06/2008, -1/+11I think he meant environmentally friendly.
- antler, on 08/06/2008, -0/+10Holy crap! I live 2000 miles away in Atlanta, and I also got the RRoD last week. Do you have any idea what this means?
That earthquake... must have been the RESULT... of a sudden release of energy in the Earth's crust that created seismic waves. - RobotDan, on 08/06/2008, -1/+11*Art-Deco brick for fireplace.
- brendoman, on 08/05/2008, -2/+11My 360 red ringed during the recent L.A. earthquake. A new one is already on the way from Microsoft. This was really funny though.
- Darkswarm, on 08/06/2008, -0/+9I almost buried it as inaccurate because of "16%." It's obviously much larger than that, come on. Their source is from someone no one's heard of from a sample of only 1,000 people. Other sources have estimated as much as 33% to 50% to even 75%, and this is the first time I've heard anything as low as 16%.
However, I did decide to digg it anyway since it was kind of funny. - djruden, on 08/06/2008, -0/+9You had to pay shipping? MS emailed me a UPS shipping label- all I had to provide was a box to put it in for sending.
- santasing, on 08/06/2008, -0/+9Because the 3 yr warranty just covers RROD, there the DVD drive issues and the 4 red lights also.
- ChinezePanda, on 08/06/2008, -3/+12Trully a remarkable piece of ***** I got sitting in my entertainment Unit.
- dhughes, on 08/06/2008, -0/+9> Why are you using the dollar sign for an S?
Welcome to the Internet! - Nath2k8, on 08/06/2008, -0/+8Or the P$3
- mdaize, on 08/06/2008, -5/+12the fact that you can say that without any anger-like remarks shows your lack of consumer understanding....
you paid for a device... and it fails and is gone for 2-3 weeks? Thats just upsetting and is poor QA... You as a consumer should be upset that you paid hundreds of dollars just to have the device fail on numerous occasions - Duggan360, on 08/06/2008, -1/+8How handy, Right on time aswell, Mine died around 2 hours ago....
- alukima, on 08/06/2008, -5/+12I am on xbox number six and just received a letter from Microsoft telling me that they are covering RoR for three years from purchase date. Since the xbox was not released until November 22, 2005 I don't understand how so many people have broken units sitting around.
Why wouldn't you just send it in? They have always paid for my shipping and given me free stuff because I have had so many issues. I realize that its pathetic that this happened to begin with but at least Microsoft is attempting to take care of it unlike a lot of other companies.
Even if you don't want it anymore why wouldn't you send it in then sell it? - dysonlu, on 08/06/2008, -1/+8What about that huge and fugly marvel of engineering that is the 24lbs Xbox360 power brick?
- GTOFan350, on 08/06/2008, -2/+9I traded in my paper weight after M$ replaced it cuz I had no confidence in it and got my a shiny new PS3! The coolest feature the PS3 has is that it turns on when I press the "ON" button and another feature, I don't have that annoying RRoD. Awww.....how I love my PS3.
I am thinkin about buying a 360 for GoW 2 and whenever they install the new 45nm chipset. - Mikey129, on 08/06/2008, -0/+6Use #4 has glory written all over it.
- omgsideburns, on 08/05/2008, -22/+28Let the XBOX v. PS3 debate begin!
/ I'm gonna get buried faster than a 360 gets the Red Ring O' Death
// My xboxlive name is the same as this one. =) - digitaldivinci, on 08/06/2008, -2/+8Well, if you really think it isn't covered then go buy a new DVD drive online. Oh you voided the warranty? Better than having nothing.
Also you suck. - BedPost, on 08/06/2008, -0/+6...Really? Apple? My iPod just died, and it's out of warranty. Apple doesn't give two ***** - hell, if you want to talk to their support, you have to PAY FOR THE PHONE CALL.
I'll probably be picking up a Zune - I've heard nothing but good things and poop jokes. - mikemarino, on 08/06/2008, -0/+6The server got a rrod. Someone throw a towel over it.
- slstudios, on 08/06/2008, -5/+11Yay $ony. See, I can do it too.
- Jeffler, on 08/06/2008, -0/+5I wish - my 360 is seemingly un-RRODable
i've been force overheating it every day for the last 3 months. No luck. Right now its being overheated as we speak and I don't have high hopes. - arnmsctt, on 08/06/2008, -0/+5I had to digg it just because of that line.
- djruden, on 08/06/2008, -0/+5They aren't really that expensive...
- pandaboy99, on 08/06/2008, -0/+5Holy crap I think thats what made my 360 rrod too! my 360 was a launch and was working fine until that last week
- ngmcs8203, on 08/06/2008, -1/+6I was in your group until last Thursday. However, when I called Microsoft to report it they said that I didn't have to pay a dime to repair it. I feared that I was going to have to pay for the repairs, but all I paid for was $15 for the shipping costs.
Pretty easy and it's supposed to be back to me next week. Hopefully that's the only time it leaves my side. -
