[achievement unlocked - completed a sentence] - HBNDonut, on 10/10/2007, -0/+27Oh man, I cant wait to get that big juicy 2 point achievement!
- internetcoward, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25Well there are what, five games in this box? HL:2, HL:2 epi 1 and 2, Portal, and TFC. That's like 20 per game if every game has some, which I bet they do.
- MarkBorton, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23I hate games that have achievements like "play a game online with 9 million players from your friends list", or "Invite the planet the play in the level you can only reach by letting the devs pork your sister"
- pixelate, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22I've got 99 achievements and a bitch ain't one.
- jake8689, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19i gotta get this, halo3, mass effect, assasions creed, and cod4. iam gonna be so broke by december
- skyshard, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Partygoer
Make the correct party escort submission position decision.
5 points
.... what? - GeekyGerge, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19I say quality over quantity
- Gugel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Terminal Velocity
Fall 30,000 feet. - phej, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Don't know why you're being dugg down, I thought that was funny.
- zaldoe, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11"The One Free Bullet: Beat Episode One firing exactly one bullet. Grenade, crowbar, rocket, and Gravgun kills are okay!"
just one ? what the hell - terminalpariah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7It's like having the high score down at the arcade.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7FTA: "I have also found achievements for the upcoming title - The Orange Box, btw, did I mention that this game features 99, count them, 99 achievements. So, what are you waiting for…"
Uhh...waiting for the game to come out, that's what. - RST1123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5+t
- theprototype, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5You're only getting 5 games and getting worried! I have to get these plus Rock Band, Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, and NBA 2k8. I'm sure I'm missing more
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Sure, if you just use them as bragging rights. Maybe you want to try using them the way they were probably intended - get more value out of a game by playing it a second time in order to unlock what you haven't already, and discover all of those little secrets.
- logicalnoise, on 10/10/2007, -5/+10you can turn the acheivement notifications off.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4That's crazy but getting a 1000 in that will definitely be something of an achievement (as opposed to games with 5 Achievements for 1000 points).
- stanton, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5SPOILER WARNING!!
Contains some achievements (and therefore plot details details) for episode 2, read at your own peril ;) - SlackerCSB, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6What do you get for unlocking achievments. Can you win a prize or something or is this just nerd bragging rights?
- burstaneurysm, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Do people *really* need a pat on the back for playing a video game? It's just a game guys. Digg me down, I know you want to.
- logicalnoise, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5all these acheivemenets are enjoyable. not just "beat level 6" but use a flare to torch 15 zombies. Kill 5 gaurds with their own grenades.
- BadassCheese, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3The later.
- jjremy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3damn, this reminds me, I have to finish episode one soon.
- CtrlAltDeleteDi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3"Play through Ravenholm using only the Gravity Gun." Hell NO!
Anyone that has played HL2 before knows what I mean. - mercano, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3The icon shows the easiest way to get it: In portal, place one horizontal gate above another, facing each other, and jump.
- fino35, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Fight Night anyone?
- shortcircuit13, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You have to play Twister with ant lions... and win.
- ElectricGrandpa, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3*exactly* one.
- Blaatmeister, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Funny, but not accurate. ;) Don't forget that there are five different games in that box with their own achievements.
- logicalnoise, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2there was a contest where you could get 1 of two free games if you got 3000 acheivement points in 2 weeks. but overall it's just bragging rights and if used right gives games more replayability.
- hollismb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I don't even think you have to go that far.... there's notification settings you can adjust.
- NeoCortex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Maybe it's one of those brain teasers where you have to figure out who is sitting next to who at a party or something?
- Hermiod, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Sounds like the All Knowing Vortigaunt to me.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vortigaunt#.22The_All-Knowing_Vortigaunt.22 - NeoTEKK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You mean you haven't gotten the "play a game online with 9 million players from your friends list" achievement yet?
- supermanred, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Wait and finish it on your xbox 360 to get the achievements!
- Promantarius, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1At least there's loads of junk around in Episode 1, beating Ravenholm with only the gravity gun sounds quite difficult, especially when you're stuck on those tiny landings with the zombies climbing up pipes to get at you - not a lot of junk on small platforms to shoot at them =/
- terminalpariah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Uh yeah, getting positive reinforcement can encourage players to keep playing. But any good game has a bunch of achievements for doing cool/difficult/weird things that really help the replay value.
- MarkBorton, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Becasue portal should BE and Xbox Live Arcade title.
- logicalnoise, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1that's games like the myst series exist.
- jjremy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2"Contain the Citadel core without killing any stalkers."
wait wait WAIT! since when could you kill stalkers?? - MouseCircus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah, but I assumed he was asking for a temporary solution. Or at least, that's all I wanted. Sometimes I want to see them, sometimes I don't.
- supermanred, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Actually, it'll look good and play well without having to spend another 1,000 bucks on video cards.
Thats my reason to play on the 360. - MagicCake, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It adds to your overall "gamer score" on Xbox Live, which is mostly bragging rights, yeah. But the achievements themselves are a good thing. They often add replayability and goals for you to shoot for after you've cleared the main game.
- thatsiebguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That level scared the ***** out of me, and that hasn't happened since DoomII. :P
- Stevethegreat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I'm sure I'm being dugg down by Xbox360 owners, I can only say to them that they are the most responsible for the dumbing down of gaming
- DMDekoth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1How does adding things to do, adding replay value, dumb down a game?
- supermanred, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What?
- Stevethegreat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Achievements take away from a game. It turns the light from the storyline to the infantile purposeless act of doing things that makes no sense in the context of the game, or its serious gameworld whatsoever. I want an alternative world FOR ADULTS not an alternative playground.
- supermanred, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Achievements are fun. You should try it, its really awesome. I like going back to old games I got bored of and trying to get the achivements.
