    This game pwns. I cant wait to see where modders and map editors take this. Does anyone remember back in the quake 2 days, where they would create challenging maps just based on the momentum/ sidestrafe jumping? The level difficulties would get ridiculous. great fun.

          I really hope this will be the kind of game that isn't expensive to keep playing. I hope they release "episodes" on a more frequent basis, and for something like $9.99 [or $0.00]. The gameplay is so dynamic...finishing Portal gave you the skills you need to have fun. Now they need to incorporate the plot with the plot of Half-Life 2.

        All three are superb games. My favorite is The Orange Box, and yes, I do enjoy Valve's games the most, but you're just subscribing to mob mentality...have you even installed BioShock / World in Conflict? I have, and then I downloaded a No-CD crack which bypasses the SecuROM. For both games. No viruses or spyware.

She's happy over all the things she learned. The ending seems to confirm that GLaDOS is mostly software as there's a warehouse of her modules, so that's why she is "still alive." I think this means Gordan Freeman might meet a GLaDOS on Borealis! Just imagine how GLaDOS will be after years of isolation and headcrab invasions/etc.

    I ended up having to play the game all the way through again and save so I could see the end credits when I wanted to. The Youtube links are awesome, but you can't read the text of the lyrics then...

      Throughout the game the computer voice guiding you through everything promises you cake when you complete all the challenges, when in fact, it really means to kill you and not give you any cake.

      This of course leads you into an interesting pursuit of said cake, because chocolate is delicious and filling. By cake I mean an exit to the facility you are trapped in.

The robot in the game uses this euphemism several times saying if you fall off such and such you will be caked (ie fall into acidic liquid and melt to death), et cetera. Then, when the robot tries to kill you, it promises you cake in return for compliance when you escape. At the end you find out that the robot has turned the euphemism to have a literal meaning, so you destroy its 'make cake instinct,' as opposed to its 'murder instinct' which is held separately (and has to be thrown into the incinerator just after the cake instinct).

      • dschep, on 11/14/2007, -1/+2If you say so. but.. the orange box is 50 (60 I guess if you want it on the 360... but why??) bucks and includes hl2, hl2:ep1, hl2:ep2, portal, and tf2.. where as halo3 is 60 dollars.. so yea.. though I may believe the orange box is better (mainly due to tf2 and portal), one would be crazy to claim halo3 was more worth the money.

      At the end of Episode 2, you are asked to go to the ship that has an Aperature crate on it and you're asked to destroy it because it's too dangerous to be used. I'm willing to bet Gordon gets to use the portal gun in Episode 3.

      • junk, on 10/14/2007, -0/+1The other thing is that in HL2 they are setting you up to go to the arctic where the Aperture ship (and dry dock) are and during Portal there are a few references to "Ice Inhibitors" through the game. I thought it had something to do with the cake (icing) until I finished EP2. I think Portal took place in the arctic and the sunny scene at the end was due to the ice inhibitors.

    • phatfish, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1I think i will be a little while before we see the portal gun outside a puzzle game with bare square rooms for pure performance reasons. My PC runs HL2:EP2 better most of the time than it runs Portal. Portal is fine until you open up a portal, then the framerate drops as it renders a second copy of the room your in.

      Try to get your PC rendering another copy of a HL2:EP2 environment and watch the framerate plummet. Maybe HL3 as someone said, but not EP3, at least not in an environment any different to the ones in Portal now.

    I've not enjoyed a game like that for a long long time and the end is back to the old roots, mix in the humor and it's golden.
