- nickert0n, on 09/19/2008, -26/+172WHAT!?!?! Halo 3 is not the top game on the 360, don't get me wrong I own a copy and love it,
The ending was horrible, the matchmaking is crap (try to find an Big only Team Deathmatch game without being forced to play neutral assault or vip)
Halo 3 also lacks a cover system (id even settle for a prone).
The story is great but heres the problem.
Bungie/Microsoft paid big bucks for big reviews but anyone who's not a blind fanboy will agree, it is not the top 360 game not even close.
However it IS a great game that every 360 owner should have/play, and it does have a place in my heart. - Dalhectar, on 09/19/2008, -3/+141#32: Rez HD

- triont, on 09/19/2008, -20/+75BioShock > Halo 3
- BattleScars, on 09/19/2008, -5/+56Assassin's Creed ahead of BioShock and The Orange Box.
***** you Game Pro, ***** you. - LogicBomB, on 09/19/2008, -13/+64Good enough list, very wrong order and setup. It makes no distinction between MP games and SP games (important imho).
Also, I don't care HOW the list was made up, CoD4 beats Halo3, always. - negrin, on 09/19/2008, -6/+49Agreed. Halo 3 is a competent game and a solid addition to your collection but it's nowhere near the best the 360 has to offer.
- inactive, on 09/19/2008, -16/+52not digging because COD4 > Halo 3 all day everyday
- zephyr42, on 09/19/2008, -22/+57Halo 3 as #1?
FAIL. - terminalpariah, on 09/19/2008, -5/+34Halo is great for the console LAN parties. Since four players can play off of a single console, you only need a few consoles and TVs to support 12-16 players. We usually get 10 people, with 3-4 people per console.
We'd love to play CoD4 but it doesn't support this split screen+LAN gaming. - lukegravitt, on 09/19/2008, -2/+30Decent list, but some of the choices are plain wrong. Braid at #4 but no Castle Crashers? Gimme a break.
- LogicBomB, on 09/19/2008, -8/+35Halo 3 has it's flaws but lack of a cover system and aiming reticules are hardly among them. You are asking for Halo3 - GOW/COD4 edition.
Matchmaking does bore me with the lack of choice though. I ***** hate shotty snipers / vip / rockets, etc.. Halo2 was much better at giving me straight up flag or bomb. - OneLess, on 09/19/2008, -4/+28Can't say I agree with their rankings, but dugg to see the discussion get to the front page.
Orange Box should have been higher and I'd put CoD4 higher than Halo 3. - nikhil1986, on 09/19/2008, -1/+24Altair definitely changed my experience on the 360. Not saying it was the best game.. far to repetitive and I had to stop playing it for a while just so I could get interested again, but man were the graphics, cities and overall gameplay amazing. It was made for the 360. I cannot imagine playing a game like Assassins Creed on the PC. Can't wait for the second one. Hopefully this time round Ubisoft doesn't ***** things up by making me do the same thing a 1000 times.
- NeoCortex, on 09/19/2008, -1/+23The matchmaking isn't perfect, but it's still loads better than most 360 games.
- soze1, on 09/19/2008, -2/+22Skate should but on that list.
- goldenhearted, on 09/19/2008, -1/+19My, my do we have some angry diggers today.
- nickert0n, on 09/19/2008, -9/+27I cant wait for my pre-ordered Gears of War 2 to come out!
- eedok, on 09/19/2008, -10/+28No Castle Crashers? I was losing faith in my 360 until it came out.
- Halukard, on 09/19/2008, -0/+15How can Need for Speed: Carbon be on this list and not Forza 2 Motorsport ???
Big fail. - chkdg8, on 09/19/2008, -0/+15I'm on 13 out of 32 titles. Damn, what an expensive hobby. Where the f*ck is my money going?
- ericrous, on 09/19/2008, -1/+15Yeah, genius, that's why I *did* include the word console.
- LogicBomB, on 09/19/2008, -2/+15Reaper - I agree. I might prefer games with cover and prone but Halo was always (and I can only imagine will always) be a run and gun, no-thought required shooter.
Just look at the gameplay - wide open levels, turrets, grenades, rockets, sheilds, etc... a cover system would encourage slower-paced gameplay and proning would give snipers far too much of an advantage at long distances. It would totally break the fast-paced, frantic nature of the game.
Halo is about multiple people running at each other firing full-tilt. Not hiding behind a wall or rock and firing a few rounds around the corners.
Again Nickert0n - you are looking for GoW and CoD4. You enjoy strategy, hiding and a slower pace. Halo is not about that at all. - ericrous, on 09/19/2008, -6/+19First of all, I like the ending. Secondly, NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE in the console world has anything nearly as cool as "Theater." That is the coolest feature I've ever seen in a console videogame.
- reaper527, on 09/19/2008, -1/+13just because some games have click once to crouch and a cover system doesn't mean every game needs to have it. leave some variety in the market.
- Spire3660, on 09/19/2008, -2/+14Need for Speed: Carbon but no Forza or PGR?? FAIL DOA 4 but no Soul Calibur 4, FAIL.
- HolyMan28, on 09/19/2008, -1/+12BioShock remains to be one of the very few games I've fully beat. Don't get me wrong, I own a ***** load of games, I just get bored of them.
Never got bored with BioShock. - metaliq, on 09/19/2008, -3/+14I feel as if Bioshock and the Orange Box should have been above Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed.
Hell. Bioshock should've been #1 for it's utter brilliance. - kjk437, on 09/19/2008, -2/+13... So you wasted your time to log in and digg him up?
- Bisclavret, on 09/19/2008, -0/+10I'm glad the author gave some recognition to Crackdown. I could understand why some people may not like it but I still felt it was a solid game. Can't wait for the sequel!
- dragoonkain, on 09/19/2008, -0/+9I was shocked when I saw Blue Dragon made it but not Lost Odyssey. Lost Odyssey was clearly better than Blue Dragon in pretty much every way possible.
- ericrous, on 09/19/2008, -0/+9Personally, I would have put "Uno" on the list too. I know it sounds silly, but that game is so fun and relaxing to play. It's absolutely addictive. I also would have put Bioshock and the Orange Box ahead of Assassin's Creed (Orange Box should be higher on the basis of Portal ALONE).
- jedisushi, on 09/19/2008, -3/+12I must confess, I ordered Gears 2 with the Lancer from Amazon.
- GhandicapXRS, on 09/19/2008, -10/+18iron sights > aiming reticules
- Zantive, on 09/19/2008, -2/+10I like Halo 3.
Oh crap, time for my personal opinion to be hated on by random people I don't know! - petebot, on 09/19/2008, -1/+9No Lost Odyssey?
- VinnieDaMac, on 09/19/2008, -0/+8Call of Duty 2 is one of the best X360 games right now?
- petebot, on 09/19/2008, -0/+8today?
- rodon, on 09/19/2008, -6/+14This kind of stuff is too subjective. I think these top-lists are just made to piss people off and get them talking about what their own list would be.
And yes, COD4 > Halo3 - itsripitsrip, on 09/20/2008, -0/+7look, i've played of the "top" FPS games and i can honestly say (without the slightest bias) that i've had the most fun playing the halo SERIES.
depending on what you're into you may disagree. you may be a sports or rpg fan. hell you may be one of the people who absolutely love half life. you may be one of those gamers who is all about a great story. halo had some very cliche moments, don't get me wrong, i mean the entire story was "humans vs. aliens". but in its defense, halo's story was still pretty good, tying in the religious war and blah blah blah. it was fun, especially in halo 1 where you and your friend hop on a warthog for the first time and go around turreting everything that moves.
and to the people complaining about the matchmaking..some people say there's not enough choices or variety. go boot up team fortress 2 or gears of war. you'll see about 3-4 maps being played constantly. what's even worse is that you can only play one gametype per map in TF2. if you get tired of playing matchmaking in halo, invite some friends and make a custom game. then play whatever the hell you like. top that off with forge and you have all kinds of options. it's crazy how people STILL complain about lack of variety where so much is at your fingertips in halo compared to other (console) FPS games.
the thing that aggravates me the most is fanboyism. believe me, it kills me to see someone degrade any good game, rather it be the halo franchise or the greatness that is Half-Life and Portal. they all have their highs and lows, it's just that the halo franchise has drawn together all of the features the xbox has the best, rather it be fun single player or amazingly fluid online play.
and i doubt anyone will read this entire thing, but whatever. fun to vent on the internet :) - SSCrow, on 09/19/2008, -1/+8Halo 3 would suck with Prone or a Cover System.
Not every feature works so well with any execution. - Poseur117, on 09/19/2008, -0/+7you're a fool.
crackdown kicks ass.
def. not number 1 material, but higher than whatever spot it got. - BedPost, on 09/19/2008, -2/+9Buried for putting ***** Assassin's Creed in front of Oblivion. Halo 3 as number 1? Yea, no, and I say that as a person who's favorite game is Halo:CE.
- handheldchimp, on 09/19/2008, -1/+8Your mom is for kids...
- armo, on 09/19/2008, -1/+8"where I don't have to hold down the crouch button"
Settings>Game Controls>Crouch Behavior
enjoy :) - Tiak, on 09/19/2008, -2/+9Did anyone else get a bit suspicious when the ads between the pages were for games on this list?
- SonicNirvana, on 09/19/2008, -0/+6Wait, Call of Duty 4 doesn't support Split Screen and LAN at the same time? *****, I'm finding this out five hours before seven people are suppose to show up to play Call of Duty 4 at my house today.
- arkboysooner, on 09/19/2008, -1/+7I couldn't get through the game. It bored me to tears, but to each his/her own.
- FUR10N, on 09/19/2008, -0/+6but it's rated M for mature, 17+ isn't exactly the same category as 'kids'.
