- DukeMojo, on 01/05/2008, -1/+28Maybe this will help because I CANT ***** STAND that thing. I stick to guitar/bass/vocal and refuse drums because of that torture device.
- LaSepultura, on 01/05/2008, -1/+20I was hoping for a sound dampening mod.
Neighbors + And Justice For All = Not Good - dbhaley, on 01/05/2008, -4/+22What Rock Band is missing is double bass pedals (similar to this one) and more Metal. Although then we would need a difficulty level above expert. ;)
- incd, on 04/18/2008, -1/+18There should be an HTTP status code: 511 - Digg Effect .
- Hazardc, on 01/05/2008, -0/+13If your xbox live score on the game rock band is really that important, you need to re-evaluate your life.
- RizenBB, on 01/05/2008, -1/+13I guess people always DO have to find something to cry about.
- Ravatar, on 01/05/2008, -2/+12Because drums are loud as *****? Where do you live that playing drums any time of day is acceptable?
- Devotia, on 01/05/2008, -3/+13http://xkcd.com/359/
- inactive, on 01/05/2008, -1/+11I think it's strange that he "Doesn't want his ***** to look ghetto" so he mods his pedal to make it look more slum-like instead.
- srdrums, on 01/05/2008, -0/+9Because your Rock Band drums go to 11, right?
- jon30041, on 01/05/2008, -1/+9If he has an old, beat up pedal lying around, and having already mentioned that he IS a drummer... I assume he does and plays Rock Band for fun.
You know. The COOL F-word. - MalDON, on 01/05/2008, -1/+8They do sell electric drum sets where you can plug headphones into.
- Twenty, on 01/05/2008, -0/+7http://rockband.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php? ...
That was the one from the Tom Sawyer record video from a while back. There's some other cool stuff on those forums.
This tutorial is more detailed though, and you don't have to buy a practice pad. The beater hanging out like that would be a problem in my tiny room though. - piesforyou, on 01/05/2008, -0/+6So do you.
yes that's right, I'm stalking you. - Jeffrr, on 01/05/2008, -1/+6Suspended
- NeoCortex, on 01/05/2008, -0/+5Cut some basic mousepads to fit each drum pad. Then I just mounted each one using some bent paperclips to clip the pads on, since I had some handy. It cuts down on the noise a lot.
- MechaFalcon, on 01/05/2008, -1/+6You're complaining about a guy using a real bass pedal unfairly because... it doesn't break?
- metafluence, on 01/05/2008, -3/+8Because it's a great way to learn new songs to play on the real thing. Guitar is not the same, but the drums have real applicable value to "real" drumming. I was thinking it would be sweet to mod the kit to have Roland V-Drums. Then they would be totally quite and be much more responsive.
- pod6isblowedup, on 01/05/2008, -0/+4I don't mind the pedal...it's obviously not as good as my real drums sets, but it works. When I broke mine, I fixed it with a blank cd and some duck tape....I'm much too lazy to do this.
- metafluence, on 01/05/2008, -2/+6By the way, you can Google "rock band sound dampening" and find some good solutions there!
- IpecacNeat, on 01/05/2008, -0/+4$$$$$
- AparoidX, on 01/05/2008, -0/+3Finally, a solution. EA never sent me my foot pedal back, and the phone lines are conveniently always busy. I'm pretty sure their "we answer your problem in 24 hours" policy is void, because it's been a week and they still have my foot pedal.
Thanks for posting this! - rojano17, on 01/06/2008, -0/+3you mean like a regular bass drum?
- Cryptopsy, on 01/05/2008, -0/+3I would just rig up a double kick pedal. To bad there are no songs with blast beats in em.
- inactive, on 01/05/2008, -0/+3Leave your foot pressed down until right before you need a beat, and make sure your seat is the right height.
- joegibes, on 01/09/2008, -0/+3Dude... If you can play drums (well) on Expert (or even hard) in Rock Band, you can play drums for real.
- davidrools, on 01/05/2008, -0/+3i happened to print a pdf to refer to later. enjoy
http://www.mediafire.com/?9yyvxxzxm1j - NorrisTwithman, on 01/05/2008, -0/+3Really the biggest way Rock Band drums are similar to real drums is the motions and the coordination. Separating the motions of hands and feet translates instantly into Rock Band, but I would love to see some Rock Band "expert" drummer try and duplicate the sound on a real drum set. Nooot happening.
- anachronaut, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2Unless you're referring to the Wii (in which case you're SOL for the foreseeable future), there are most definitely bundles available for both systems. I wouldn't want to "egg" you on to a "new" vendor or anything, but you easily can find them online without even trying very hard...
- Bakkster, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2HMX states they have a very open hardware mindset. This is hardly any different from using a 3rd party guitar.
- bxzcd, on 01/05/2008, -1/+3He needs to clean his nails.
- creativetfh, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2same exact thing happened to my drum kit...but i just taped it up.
- calvinw, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2I will be doing this soon, I just need to buy a real pedal because I sold my ***** kit.
- pilot3033, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2not really. I mean, someone who has never played the drums before, and gets good at them with Rock Band will certainly have a good idea of what's going on when using a real kit, but the pads don't feel the same, and they don't take into account how hard you hit them, where you hit them, or any actual kit set up. Not to mention, complete lack of a high-hat pedal (the work around for that is the user hits a blue gem when its noticeable in the song).
Real drummers will easily transition into Rock Band (I was playing on expert for most songs from the get go), but the average Rock Band player won't have nearly as easy a time going from the game to reality.
That's just the nature of the drums, and how you simulate them; completely unlike the RB (and GH) guitar(s) which is(are) more like playing the flute than a guitar. - BearinG, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2You mean everyone who plays Rock Band actually plays all these instruments in real life?
- Yondelldude, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2I'd like to see a living room drummer attempt the double bass part to 'Ruin' if its ever included in the game.
- m00nstone, on 01/06/2008, -0/+2Ya, and why do people keep playing those 1st person shooters. Get yourself a real gun and go to a gun club. You people live in a fantasy world.
- Spoomeister, on 01/06/2008, -0/+2You're not understanding my point. A game is not my life. But when I play a game, I expect everyone to be playing under the same rules, with the same basic equipment, etc. Otherwise it's not fun.
- neferiousrich, on 01/06/2008, -0/+2beating on the sensor doesn't seem like a long term solution. The Magnet/Switch mod works, but I've been having trouble getting it stable enough to do anything fast on expert.
And my blue pad stopped working yesterday. :( - Systematic1, on 01/06/2008, -0/+2I take it you don't have the Metallica pack
- rworne, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2You can play the real thing - for a price. Someone modded a set of electronic drums to work with Rockband. It isn't cheap though:
http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20 ... - svartgotik, on 01/05/2008, -1/+2Holy *****, is that ever rigged.
- LaSepultura, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1I did that. I'm talking about the kick pedal.
- maci01, on 01/05/2008, -1/+2But he's given you the knowledge to do it. :P
- Villagemom, on 07/31/2008, -0/+1I know several people who will love this!!
- toefer, on 01/06/2008, -0/+1Perhaps he's from Canada or Europe, in which case he could still be waiting for the game. Unless that egg thing can ship internationally.
- bassman19, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1Is there a way to attach the sensor to a pedal from an electronic set and not just the trigger?
- pinstripewizard, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1thats cool if it makes the pedal smoother. I have a heavy shoe I wear while playing that brings the resistance down... seems to work well for me ::)
- vawksel, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1Not in one day.... but a Rock Band "Expert" I bet will pick up the real drums faster than someone who hasn't played the drums before, where the "expert" started off not playing either and learning on Rock Band.
The question is, does playing expert well on Rock Band mean you will learn the real drums faster, or no differently than a real drum beginner. - Cryptopsy, on 01/12/2008, -0/+1When has Metallica ever used blast beats?
