- santasing, on 10/09/2008, -8/+77Isn't this....old
- Zippo, on 10/09/2008, -7/+58A blatant rip-off of Miis, for sure... but, admittedly, they definitely look a lot better.
- mikebenson, on 10/09/2008, -9/+42looks like we can have a Mii on xbox now
- Naryuu, on 10/09/2008, -10/+38while they're at it they should just rename the system to the thrii-sixtii.
- fattehboi, on 10/09/2008, -7/+27is it released now? cause this is definitely mad old
- HigherLogic, on 10/09/2008, -2/+22You'll get used to it...as a designer, I've always hated the first couple days of releasing a new design. People always bitch and complain about how it sucks (e.g. think back when Digg put the new comment system up, it's not perfect, but it's better than it was before), they want the old interface back, etc. Eventually though, everyone gets used to it and finds that it is actually better. As the saying goes, people don't like change.
- inajeep, on 10/09/2008, -6/+24So is Sony but aren't we all the better for it? Is it financially hurting your Mii development business?
- xxMaxaroni, on 10/09/2008, -7/+23Am I the only one that doesn't like this new interface at all?
- ExRe, on 10/09/2008, -4/+16As is every single person.
Everything you use or see was ripped off from some other person. When you get back to the person who created the initial idea you will almost always get the same answer, they copied nature. - Dotcommer, on 10/09/2008, -4/+13Buried because the submitter is retarded, put in a misleading title, and is hoping to get digs off of old news that any respectful gamer already knows about.
Who the ***** are you trying to kid? - Typhoon2009, on 10/09/2008, -6/+15I thought this was "unveiled" 3 months ago at E3.
- jer21, on 10/09/2008, -2/+11I've said it before and i'll say it again...that's a terrible mentality to have. We'd still be in the stone age if that were the case.
- xboxing, on 10/09/2008, -3/+12As a "core" gamer, they kinda lost me with the avatars, they're just too feminine looking. The rest I like and am looking forward too, but the avatars will be the first thing I turn off.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/09/2008, -5/+13I don't know if that's sarcasm or not.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Playstation_Home - aliendisaster, on 10/09/2008, -1/+9I think you confused the term "campaigning" with "spamming"
- phrenzy, on 10/09/2008, -10/+18Good old Microsoft. Always innovating.
- flamesoftheend, on 10/09/2008, -11/+19Novermber = greatest month for xbox this year.
- GJ92, on 10/09/2008, -2/+9It's functional, but not really simple.
Opening the in-game blade is slow and complicated. If you're not quick enough to press your Guide button when the notification (also slow) pops up, then there's about 4 different menus to go through to accept an invite.
Also, how come we can't have more than one account (per xbox) on the same Gold subscription? - Mr_Lyle, on 10/09/2008, -0/+6Why the hell are people so surprised that good (or seemingly good) ideas get ripped off by rival companies? That's how things have worked for years. Is this just a Microsoft thing? Cause if memory serves, Sony ripped off their (much more successful than Miis) idea of Achievements in the form of their Trophies. Who cares if they steal from eachother? If them ripping each other off means the best of all 3 consoles in all 3 consoles, then we're the ones winning. I'm all for it.
- inajeep, on 10/09/2008, -1/+7Reflections and gradient backgrounds are Apple ideas?
I really don't think Sony designed their interface to be modular but it's a discussion neither of us would win since we don't know any Sony developers. I'm not impressed with Sony's ps3/psp interface design even though by nature I'm a minimalist. Let see how well is scales when they have as much as Live in terms of content. It's hard to find anything on Live because of it and I don't see this change or Sony's interface improving content location. - hollismb, on 10/09/2008, -1/+7That's somewhat of a common misconception. The old 'blades' interface is gone from the DASHBOARD (for good), but will be intergrated into the GUIDE (what happens when you press the guide button). There's no switching back and forth.
- thebullisred, on 10/09/2008, -7/+12looking forward to the new party functions
- slstudios, on 10/09/2008, -1/+6hey, cavemen are entitled to their opinions as well.
- joshuawilde, on 10/09/2008, -13/+18Microsoft sure is good at ripping off ideas.
- nickbarber, on 10/09/2008, -0/+5Yes, just bury it as a dupe.
- juttman, on 10/09/2008, -0/+5Candy Cane, ha, that is a stripper name.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/09/2008, -0/+5I'm not denying that. Home is an embarrassment to the PS community, I'm just saying Sony CAN touch this.
- Seann7656, on 10/09/2008, -7/+11What do you mean by that? They already have an amazing live service. This is just going to improve upon that.
- nexus420, on 10/09/2008, -0/+4yes, but they did finally announce the release date November 19th.
- dig1x, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4Right. Cause Nintendo invented the 3D avatar.
- samard2002, on 10/09/2008, -5/+9I love the guys who are in the .01% of users that want the developers to constantly cater to them.
- ocellnuri, on 10/09/2008, -4/+8I want Netflix and 16:10 display support... but I'm not too crazy about the rest of this crap.
- Eoborges, on 10/09/2008, -1/+4The iThriiSixtation
- inajeep, on 10/09/2008, -6/+9Leave it to Microsoft to have a worthwhile online gaming service that Sony is ripping off in stages. Not to mention the ability to change their entire interface. Do you think Sony or Nintendo could pull off a such a feat? I'm a little perplexed as to what they stole from Apple unless your referring to Windows which has nothing to do with Xbox in anyway.
- philipz78, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3You don't have to buy a game at launch to enjoy it. Prioritize a list and play them as if they were delayed to March/April/etc
- inactive, on 10/09/2008, -6/+9The iThriiSixtii.
- nexus420, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3yes, but the 360 already has the hardcore crowd. Nintendo never had them.
- rexCo, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3Noverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmber
holy ***** - petebot, on 10/09/2008, -4/+7I still think it looks kind of bland, but I like the idea that you can throw some wallpaper up back there.
- inactive, on 10/09/2008, -5/+8I'm not an xbox owner, but from what I've seen from all my friends, I kinda liked the current dashboard... It's simple and functional.
- omgJOHN, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3I don't actually know anyone who said that . . .
- Kromel, on 10/09/2008, -5/+8I wasn't planning to vote because I felt like it would have been a "Damn if I do, Damn if I don't" situation. Now, I'm going to vote for Obama just to spite you!
- slstudios, on 10/09/2008, -1/+3weird...most of my divx look great on mine.
- nexus420, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2No, but they announced the date, 11/19
- cromptonenator, on 10/09/2008, -2/+4The author of the article has a rather unfortunate name: "Daniel Terdiman"
- Radan, on 10/09/2008, -1/+3I hate that they always do this. Instead of spreading out the releases throughout the year, so that you can actually buy and play everything, they release all their biggest game in November, which means that I will most likely miss out a lot of them, or at least not have time to play them as much as they deserve.
- andreo, on 10/09/2008, -1/+3I agree with you. But today I started checking out the playon server from mediamall. It's still in beta and after 40 days they want you to pay for it. But it will expire just in time for the release of the new dashboard.
I have to say though, the playon software is pretty slick. Though it can be iffy if it will actually work every time. - dig1x, on 10/10/2008, -0/+2You've obviously never been on PSN. It is vastly worse, the interweb is full of arseholes.
At least LIVE has a methodology to disciple these twits. - Klowner, on 10/09/2008, -1/+3I think what they have now is rather disorganized
