- Arcarsenal, on 09/29/2008, -6/+36I'm not the only one that dreads this update, am I? The avatars and iTunes look makes me miss the blades already.
- djpray2k, on 09/29/2008, -4/+32Don't know why I'm excited about this, being in the UK we get less than half of new stuff and what we do get is mostly cosmetic. Oh and we pay almost twice as much.
- terrya64, on 09/29/2008, -6/+31I'm really looking forward to the Netflix integration.
- linuxlucas, on 09/29/2008, -2/+17Hey. Hey. Hey. I live in AUSTRALIA.
- MCA2142, on 09/29/2008, -6/+20I just want one thing from the new update: Ability to play Divx movies INSIDE the Media Center Extender feature. Right now, it's kinda stupid that you can play Divx and Xvid movies via the dashboard, but not through the Media Center Extender.
- uberduger, on 09/29/2008, -4/+18I don't get why they don't make it more customizable...
Oh, right.
So they can sell themes. *Sigh* - Radan, on 09/29/2008, -6/+19What's even worse is that now they are even building the entire interface on a service that most of the customers won't have access to. So we will have a whole bunch of tabs that will just sit there and do nothing but taunt us. I'm getting so freaking tired of this. The LEAST they could do is giving us cheaper prices for Xbox Live since we are right now paying for stuff that we won't get, but that is something we probably never will see.
Hello, my name is The Rest Of The World. I don't exist. - Books, on 09/29/2008, -1/+13Honestly, at this point the only thing I realllllly want is for Netflix to expand into Canada (for me) and then one day to Europe (for you my friend, because I am a nice guy).
- serpanterra, on 09/29/2008, -2/+14Weird how the UK version of Xbox looks completely different. Full screen streaming video and stuff.

Lot cooler? - Qorzm, on 09/29/2008, -12/+22The Miis look like fun
- LukeD, on 09/29/2008, -1/+9You are missing the point. You are pricing it in $ which only the US pays (excluding AU$ etc.) Here it is something like £40, which is roughly $80.
I think that the XBL service is great, and the quality is in my experience higher than PSN which is free. I think there is definite value for the money. BUT, when you have one group of people paying a significant amount more, and receiving less for it (Netflix etc. being US only atm), then I think that group is justified in saying its unfair and we should all be paying the same or getting the same service.
US company shafts EU/AU subscribers. Big shock :( - sthulbourn, on 09/29/2008, -4/+12Yeah, the UK version is /better/, but still not great since it's made in flash, there's 3 uses for flash, making full websites isn't one of them.
- Memnochxx, on 09/29/2008, -2/+10Not as the dashboard they aren't, and it won't contain any of the new features in the update.
- triont, on 09/29/2008, -5/+13Sucks for you.
- inactive, on 09/29/2008, -2/+9Really, are you sure about that?
http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/11/rare-avatar-deve ... - zXShazXz, on 09/29/2008, -2/+9Uh, think again. Xbox Live is going down for the day for maintenance.
- fandyboy, on 09/29/2008, -3/+9It already exists, it's called a silver account.
- Radan, on 09/29/2008, -2/+8History has shown that desperately striving for an elitism attitude by spitting out unintelligible garble and then insulting the people who may disagree with you, especially on a vote moderated forum like Digg, seldom helps you in neither proving your point nor gaining popularity, not even among the people who may have otherwise agreed with you.
- toxicityj, on 09/29/2008, -2/+7that's what you get for having a currency worth twice as much as ours. /not really
- ButchersBoy, on 09/29/2008, -2/+7I don't know what the deal is with the media centre extender. For me it finds folders full of photos, but when you go in there they all appear empty. The music player shows album art, but is actually less featured than the one on the dashboard, and yes, as you say you can't play DivX. I find the whole extender thing useless, and do everthing from the dashboard.
- TleilaxuTheorem, on 09/29/2008, -3/+8Finally, more than one person on private chat at a time.
- fandyboy, on 09/29/2008, -5/+10The blades are still gonna be there FFS.
- oxymoron69, on 09/29/2008, -1/+6why don't you try Tversity. It's a upnp server for more than just the 360 and will transcode anything your device can't play... in real time. seriously, tversity is the most robust solution for watching videos/playing tunes on crippled devices like the 360.
It's not perfect, but hopefully one day soon we'll see XBMC on the 360 platform. - inactive, on 09/29/2008, -1/+6I'm a Wii and 360 fan, but I still lol'd
- GamerSDG, on 09/29/2008, -0/+4Why Microsoft you have to make me suffer, I want this new update now.
- snoogit, on 09/29/2008, -1/+5You can play games on your Zune now.
- benman587, on 09/29/2008, -2/+6Is today your first time on the internet Dave?
- Mataroo, on 09/29/2008, -2/+6Use Transcode360. You can play everything up to MKV files and ISOs.
- feanix, on 09/29/2008, -2/+6wut
- Frozo, on 09/29/2008, -3/+7This is not a new website! It's the SAME website with a big old ad for the new "Experience" on the front page. I'm sure they will be revamping the interface to coincide with the release of the new Dashboard, but this is not it.
- inactive, on 09/29/2008, -1/+5Yeah I'm gonna have to subscribe to netflix again after this hits. I know they have like every movie ever made on dvd but I'm curious how many of those movies will be streamable.
- JudgeMonkey, on 09/29/2008, -2/+6instead of saying netflix etc... could you think of another example? They're adding netflix support and not charging anyone more for it. It's a free addition. They add free support for something, so that means it should cost less to folks who can't use that feature?
I do agree about a lot of things simply being a lot more expensive though, 80 bucks for live is still quite affordable, but it's nearing an unpleasant area. - Thorpe, on 09/29/2008, -1/+5I think the blades interface will be apart of the guide now. The main dashboard, if you choose to update, will look completely different. Don't believe you can switch between styles. I assume many will update, since it will not let you connect to Xbox LIVE with an older version.
- kilodelta, on 09/29/2008, -3/+7no netflix for canada. *thumbs down*
i know this isn't netflix or microsoft's fault (damn you, CRTC), but it still sucks. - trdrstv, on 09/29/2008, -2/+5I prefer "MiiToo"
- fandyboy, on 09/29/2008, -3/+6Yourfatmomma.com
- fandyboy, on 09/29/2008, -3/+6affirmative...
- MarkBroadhurst, on 09/29/2008, -1/+4It hasn't got the marketshare yet.
Much like flash up to about version 4. - djpray2k, on 09/29/2008, -1/+4We don't get the 100-to-1 game either and we don't get anywhere near the amount of movies and tv shows as America gets.
I've constantly said that XBL is a good deal for the price and I still m pay it. I was more concerned about the lack of services available outside the US and the higher price...
ESPECIALY as it's digital, I'm sure they don't pay import duties etc. - RisingAgainst, on 09/29/2008, -2/+5WOW @ the 1up comments. Mega trolling. checked one of their blogs as well, ridiculous, I've never seen such a high level of trollocity.
- FutureGuy, on 09/29/2008, -1/+4The site is down for maintenance, I think I had got an email about it. I think it was for 24 hours, may be they are preparing for this monster upgrade.
- Halotosis, on 09/29/2008, -4/+7You are not the only one... I care about playing games on my console, watching streaming video from my PC. I like my interface simple, not complicated by crap
. - mithrasinvictus, on 09/29/2008, -3/+6DivX does not have DRM, please use only WMV files for optimum rights management.
- finn, on 09/29/2008, -2/+4i'm more or less indifferent to the new look; i kinda like the avatar system in so far as it'll be something to mess with when i'm supremely bored (aka waiting for an urge to play a specific game/movie). If you're getting bent-outta-shape just over a new appearance then you're taking it too seriously--the blades will still be there but via the Guide button, so just use the guide exclusively, big whoop. (for the record, i like the blades too, but it's not so much an issue where an interface change is going to affect how I use my system, I'll 'truly' pass 'judgment' once this update comes through and try it for myself.
- SreyaNotfilc, on 09/30/2008, -0/+2I've tried to avoid Hexic on my Xbox and now it's on my Zune. Now everywhere I go, I HAVE to play that game. It's soo bad now that when I'm walking at my train station and I see hexagonal floor panels, I'm constantly thinking of strategies to create flowers with them. Even worse is when I see like-colors that are adjacent to each other, and how if I turn them this way, it will dissapear and more colors will drop down. Heck, I even look forward everyday to play it on my 360 that's attached to a HD screen.
Why o' why have you done this to me Microsoft? - PrometheusBorn, on 09/29/2008, -1/+3Uhhh... hey moron, I think when I said it's a great system and my preferred system that I pretty clearly indicated that this has no effect on my opinion of the system.
It was my opinion of the decision to replicate the Wii that I was commenting on.
But why am I wasting my time responding to some idiot who can't read. - AL7AIR, on 09/29/2008, -2/+4I call them Miicrosofties :)
- pixelate, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2I think it will be a nice addition, but for those of us with HDTVs, be prepared for a poor picture based on the Roku reviews --below DVD quality. Supposedly the capability is there for streaming in higher quality (for both the Roku device and 360) but there's no timeline.
- nekaidesigns, on 09/29/2008, -7/+9It looks sort of assy. I don't know that it will be a good or bad interface for the xbox itself (probably somewhere in the middle), but as a web interface it leaves a lot to be desired.
