- zomgorly, on 04/21/2008, -9/+347Best Buy staff just reused old cases from another PC product or just some employee trying to see if there is someone stupid enough to ask to install a Xbox 360 game. This would have been funnier if it was PS3's Devil May Cry 4.
- Natetendo83, on 04/21/2008, -8/+234I was going to come back with a comment about how those are just reused cases from PC products, and then I saw that this article was from Consumerist and I stopped caring.
- jessenoob, on 04/21/2008, -6/+169Is it already time for digg to start recycling previous articles today?
- ieataquacrayons, on 04/21/2008, -8/+148Buried, Inaccurate. Consumerist looks for anything wrong at Best Buy from the cases reused from pc memory/software, to some obscure open box price that someone forgot to update. Now I can enjoy reading the consumerist but they are just totally off point sometimes.
- SomeoneGNU, on 04/21/2008, -3/+96This was lame the first fifty times it was on Digg. It's still lame.
- thebuggalo, on 04/21/2008, -11/+100dude, you got like 4000+ diggs. chill out.
- Birks, on 04/21/2008, -37/+114I always had trouble installing games in my 360... now I don't have to worry anymore!
- exscind, on 04/21/2008, -1/+63That case likely housed RAM DIMM's at some point.
- amdforever, on 04/21/2008, -8/+55***** the Consumerist. Sometimes I feel that blog is written by a bunch of brain-dead monkeys.
- DaDrake, on 04/21/2008, -1/+44This article comes off as petty.
- cherwilco, on 04/21/2008, -4/+44dugg this one for not being submitted by a freakin crybaby
- kingvik, on 04/21/2008, -0/+38You know that you're calling yourself dumb.
- freakgd, on 04/21/2008, -11/+49WHY IS THIS ON DIGG WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT ENOUGH.
- amdforever, on 04/21/2008, -2/+35Best Buy re-uses those shells without peeling off the stickers.
They use the shells for PC softwares. - toxicityj, on 04/21/2008, -1/+33and people bitching about it don't?
- inactive, on 04/21/2008, -1/+28oh noes.. you may have seen the same thing twice... others that don't troll digg 24/7 may not have seen it before.
- tchynerd, on 04/21/2008, -0/+27Hey man don't degrade the monkeys
- dfsjdkflasjk, on 04/21/2008, -5/+31Or dumb teenagers that took the picture found a few unused stickers and placed them on the case itself. My brother and I used to do that all the time.
- YourMajesty, on 04/21/2008, -3/+28How many times on digg do we have to see this? In case you missed the last 50 comments, BestBuy reuses the same security cases for PC hardware as they do for video games. I would know, I was a Media Specialist at BestBuy for a year before I transferred to another department...
Why is this on consumerist? - DeathJux, on 04/21/2008, -0/+20Because not everyone is as awesome as you, theaceoffire. Believe it or not, most people (think of mom/dad/grandma/grandpa/etc) are terrified of the internals of their computers.
- inactive, on 04/21/2008, -11/+30This was on the front page a few months ago. Are we recycling material?.
- christopheles, on 04/21/2008, -3/+22This was in the comments a few hours ago. Are we recycling material?
- spelchek, on 04/21/2008, -0/+19Its used for ram usually.
- beigemore, on 04/21/2008, -1/+19Those are the same cases that use for RAM. They use put whatever in them and disregard the sticker.
- dsveen, on 04/21/2008, -1/+18The Consumerist is the worst place to find any news. Like others have said the plastic boxes have just been reused from something like ram or some other pc component. Consumerist == *****
- inactive, on 04/21/2008, -4/+21Having used to work at Best Buy, they often used the same boxes that they store PC software and Computer Memory so that is probably why those stickers are on the packaging....but for obvious reasons I no longer work there
- evanstapler, on 04/21/2008, -10/+27You're being serious? These are two completely different scenarios, and this one even comes with a story and article, which is much more than yours provided.
- Shaunt, on 04/21/2008, -8/+24That's what she said.
- inactive, on 04/21/2008, -1/+15Too bad Best Buy doesn't offer an installation service for caps lock and question mark keys.
- stabbingkittens, on 04/21/2008, -0/+13No, he's dumb.
- fearlessfx, on 04/21/2008, -0/+12Its a slow sunday
- riskybeats, on 04/21/2008, -1/+13I couldn't remember if Consumerist was a good website or not before I clicked this link. Now its time to make a mental note that it blows balls.
- inactive, on 04/21/2008, -1/+13Much like your posts. Shut up already.
- inactive, on 04/21/2008, -0/+12When I worked at BBY we used to have ongoing competitions to see who could get those stickers on the most ridiculous product. I came in for a shift and noticed them on all of the books and magazines that they sell up front. After that, the managers put an end to that game rather quick.
Anyway, like others said, these cases get used on a ton of stuff and just got thrown on a game after being in pc/home office. - DanMiller, on 04/21/2008, -0/+11It may have also been an attempt to drive installs of 360 consoles. There are alot of really stupid people who will pay someone $100 to come hook up a few cables to their home theater setup.
- DeathJux, on 04/21/2008, -0/+11And the salesperson would say "Oh, sometimes the cases are reused, disregard the sticker."
- notoneofus, on 04/21/2008, -1/+11Not if you don't read it, it doesn't
- reqage, on 04/21/2008, -0/+9It's been a slow couple of months.
- punkcat, on 04/21/2008, -1/+9things im tired of hearing:
why is this on digg?
dupe.
how'd this get to the front page?
i saw this on Reddit.
is this news? - str1fe, on 04/21/2008, -0/+8Agreed. Also, undugg and buried Nazi's original submission just for that comment.
- fkr3, on 04/21/2008, -0/+8The saddest part is they - and I'm including their twin Weblogs Inc in this - rely almost entirely on digg because their anti-user practices like having more ads than content and only linking to themselves instead of anything relevant prevent them from retaining regular readers. Their posts that don't get on the front page are lucky if they get a few thousand views. The posts that get on digg get 10s of thousands of views.
We carry these sites and for what? Low quality reporting, second hand summaries of second hand summaries from other blogs, getting ads plastered in front of us and finally having to cut & paste into the Google search box in our browsers just to find any relevant information. - inactive, on 04/21/2008, -1/+9Thank goodness for the undigg button. I cannot stand the consumerist and their overly blown out of proportion whiny articles.
- driftwood07, on 04/21/2008, -0/+7umm only as old as call of duty 4?
- selfdisplaced, on 04/21/2008, -1/+8umm...welcome to digg dude.
- TBobes, on 04/21/2008, -1/+8Why would it matter. Its just a case that was for memory that is now being used on video games. I work at Best Buy, and we had a couple cases with old geek squad stickers on it. Its not a big deal at all.
- inactive, on 04/21/2008, -1/+8If by professional install then you mean hot blonde airhead girl in Best Buy uniform coming to my house and putting the disc in, yeah it is worth every penny.
- spookyttws, on 04/21/2008, -1/+8Really, only sometimes?
- pyrophire, on 04/21/2008, -0/+7We've reached the end of the internet, theres no where to go but back.
- Ipwnyou, on 04/21/2008, -0/+7Look at your comment. Now look at his. Which one looks more like a jerkoff wrote it?
- AAK15, on 04/21/2008, -0/+7...What?
