- AtraNoxVII, on 11/14/2008, -1/+73I'll tell you how to make it better
1. Get rid of the damn matchmaking system that takes 15+ mins to find 4 other players and then another 5 mins to find another team who has probably waited 20 mins too.
2. Get rid of the damn random playlists, if I want to play execution I don't want to have to randomly hope that's the mode I get and have to play some other crappy mode I don't want to.
3. Fix the damn chainsaw so that when you shoot the person the chainsaw actually stops running and you don't get sawed in half.
4. Fix the damn hit tracker so that when you actually shoot the person with the shotgun point blank in the back they don't somehow magically survive and can turn around and insta-gib you. - pitchblack16, on 11/13/2008, -15/+76Gears 2 was absolutely awesome, just finished the game last night. Great ending, which I will not spoil. Definitely cannot wait for part 3's storyline, but for now I will have tons of fun with online play. The new modes are really good, and Horde mode is loads of fun. I imagine the only ones disagreeing with me are PS Fanboys.
- rwallen, on 11/13/2008, -1/+35I think most games could be improved with a better story. A good compelling story is hard to get unfortunately :(
- Jsmuli2, on 11/14/2008, -0/+23You are the only one who actually makes sense with complaining about the game. While everyone attacks the storyline, and how much more manly they are than the soldiers in the game because those guys cry, you actually comment on the experience and interface.
Therefore, I completely agree with you on how they can better Gears 3.
But overall Gears 2 online is less cheap and requires actual strategy to win. - doiveo, on 11/13/2008, -5/+27They could use more color and it would make a interesting story transition. Start 3 with the same pallet but suddenly add a single element with brilliant color. As the game moves ahead, the color increases along with the story line.
- cardyology, on 11/14/2008, -2/+21Haha, so I'm not the only one who though Cole was a bit of a stereotype.
- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -3/+20i would like to see strippers in gear3.
Yes strippers, WHO STRIP THE SKIN FROM YOU ALIVE!! - xM55, on 10/02/2009, -2/+19Easily the worst article I've read in months.
- LemonChicken, on 11/13/2008, -1/+17Throwing some dirt in his eyes or blind-firing with a shotgun?
...Are you ***** kidding me? - NGliam, on 11/14/2008, -2/+18I'm a PS3 'fanboy' (well, I own a PS3 and I dislike the 360) and I really didn't like GoW1 (I played the campaign and multiplayer on friends 360s).. I played GoW2 the other night though and I absolutely loved it, it was Horde mode and I think the graphics are amazing and the gameplay is pretty good. I don't really like this sort of 3rd person shooter, but it works very well.
- dynotesting, on 11/14/2008, -0/+14Mirror?
- nmezib, on 11/14/2008, -1/+15I love the 360, and I loved playing Gears 2, but as a black man, I almost stopped playing because the Cole Train ***** pissed me off with everything that came out of his huge-ass mouth. I got used to it, and went back to chainsawing bitches. "mad sketch, yo!" The storyline and acting.... yeah. Definitely its weakness, considering how hard they tried to make it awesome and take themselves seriously (they're using what? "A giant worm! They're using a giant worm!!!" please) That said, Horde mode IS a lot of fun and will be sure to keep me busy at least until Left 4 Dead beckons.
- mufffin, on 11/14/2008, -1/+14no, you are, BoonTobias.
- FujiwaraTofu, on 11/14/2008, -0/+13@cardyology
I'd say a "bit of a stereotype" is an understatement. - Refrag, on 11/14/2008, -3/+16I liked the story in Gears 1 better. It was subtle, left lots of room for the gameplay, and COMPLETELY MAKES SENSE in reflection. I finished the Gears 2 campaign on Monday and the story is overt, interrupts the gameplay a little too often in my opinion, and I am not really sure everything makes sense in retrospect. (e.g. Why did we go to the abandoned outpost?)
PS – I also preferred collecting cog-tags to collecting other random *****. Cog-tags had some emotional attachment and reminded the player of the human cost of war.
That said, I love Gears 2. - AmyVernon, on 11/13/2008, -0/+12Story is definitely key. It would really stand out if it had a good narrative underlying it.
- daschupa, on 11/14/2008, -1/+131. Go Karts
- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -1/+12The campaign and Horde mode are really fun.
With that said, I'm not going to be playing GOW until they fix the matchmaking system where you have to wait half an hour to join a match. - NGliam, on 11/14/2008, -0/+10@wade, GoW1 is sitting in my room on my desk now.. I've played quite a bit of it, and didn't like it. Resistance multiplayer was *****, I'm sure everyone agrees with me on that.
- covertbadger, on 11/14/2008, -0/+10"Man this game you do stuff that makes you say oh snap."
I think I can safely say that nothing on this planet, now or in the future, will ever make me say "oh snap". I do like Gears 2 though :-) - ChinezePanda, on 11/14/2008, -0/+9Give me an ACTUAL BOSS at the end of my game.
Not.. dodge this *****... then go down there.. and without a challenge.. take out all of those *****... then wach this cut scene... then paint this dude up without any chance of losing. - FujiwaraTofu, on 11/14/2008, -0/+9They mentioned Maria in the first one when Dom brought up that he knew Stranded people. It comes up when you talk to Franklin (I think that's his name) too.
- Shakermaker, on 11/14/2008, -0/+9404 Not Found.
Awesome. - vagrantwade, on 11/14/2008, -6/+15Be honest. You never gave GoW1 a chance. You were too busy pretending like Resistance multiplayer was any fun past the first hour of play.
- nickert0n, on 11/14/2008, -3/+12Resistance is good, Gears is Better IMO
- ejaywillie, on 11/14/2008, -2/+11I think grenade's explosion ratio is too wide.
- Cardcaddy, on 11/14/2008, -0/+9I swear that the chainsaw has a vacuum attached to it and they seriously need to fix that as well as the matchmaking.
- fluffyturtle, on 11/14/2008, -1/+10How is that possible?

I see the above article posted daily on Digg. Seriously, these are totally dupe stories and no one seems to report them as such, they just keep blabbing about mirrors and other girly crap. So to me this is the worst article I read in the last few minutes. - YouRookies, on 11/14/2008, -1/+10DEAD players should not be able to communicate to team members who are still playing.
- Jsmuli2, on 11/14/2008, -1/+10it's not like Dom is one of these people:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VThQr8fDiLA
but if you read the novel you would know that Dom and his family wear their emotions on the outside. The guy lost 2 kids on E-Day and his wife was missing and then *Spoiler* tortured beyond our imagination. He was searching for her for like 14 years.
I guess when a game actually has a realistic storyline, you would think idiots like you would actually praise them for trying to improve the gaming experience by making it more like a movie, which is a good thing. But instead you are ridiculously narrowminded which is why they have their multiplayer aspect, so you don't have to bother with a story that makes you THINK and REFLECT.
Last time a I checked, emo ***** were selfish. What Dom did was selfless. - Refrag, on 11/14/2008, -0/+8The topic raised by the article is interesting. The article itself is not.
- staticneuron, on 11/14/2008, -1/+9You went to the abandoned outpost because you were ordered to go there by command directly. They hoped it would help you find info on how to get to the locust queen.
You still collect cog tags in Gears 2 both from gears and locust versions. Gears 1 and Gears 2 drops you in a foreign world with not much explanation or culture. The first one was very sparse. If the story made much sense to you then you must have been trying to fill in the blanks yourself. There were alot of holes left open. - Davers, on 11/14/2008, -3/+10I love the people that whine about the shotgun because they can't just roll around and blast people apart like they could in Gears 1. They made it more balanced, get over it.
- Greengoo, on 11/14/2008, -2/+9Did you seriously just compare the Gears storyline with MG?
- Jsmuli2, on 11/14/2008, -0/+7@ Wax
So wait, when you get a video game, where the point of the entire game is to point and shoot at monsters, but then you complain about aspects of the story, and then someone mentions theres an in-depth, other form of media, that contributes to the story, you get upset that your game experience now rests on how much you understand each character?
I understand when people just want to play a game and blow ***** up, but when you make ignorant comments about the story, and then someone suggests another aspect of the game that actually adds value to the game as a complimentary form of media, your post becomes invalid.
Was Super Mario Brothers for NES "an offense to the mind" as well? considering all the ***** that went down there was completely NOT REAL OMG A GAME WASNT REAL AND THE WRITING STAFF ISNT AS AWESOME AS LUCAS IN THE 70's!!!
please, I get it if you don't like the game, but once u attack the story, it's open debate. Wanting a video game to cover as much ground as the book did so your lazy ass doesn't have to read a book is flat-out pathetic. - inactive, on 11/14/2008, -2/+9I recommend you flip a coin.
Win-Win either way. - FFXIfrohike, on 11/14/2008, -0/+7I think the word you're looking for is "radius".
- theonlybradever, on 11/14/2008, -0/+7i think it's fine for Horde mode, but vs, definitely not.
- lsdarling, on 11/14/2008, -3/+9199 for a base unit with a wireless controller.
20 dollars for a 20 gig hard drive. (Microsoft has them on sale and it includes a 3 month live subscription)
Doesn't seem too old and costly to me. - bladzalot, on 11/14/2008, -1/+7Or you could find something else to do besides play video games 24 x 7
- jayoh, on 11/14/2008, -0/+6just fix matchmaking speed and i'll be happy.
- vagrantwade, on 11/14/2008, -0/+6You went to the output because command thought you would find information there. These kind of things happens in games a lot, and even moreso in real life. Plus...
There are COG tags in Gears 2.... - WELLDOITLIVE, on 11/14/2008, -0/+6Racist
- feliks2, on 11/14/2008, -1/+7Maybe you're just too sad to appreciate it.
- Davers, on 11/14/2008, -0/+6You can already play local matches... just go to multiplayer and instead of "Public Xbox Live Match", choose "Local".
- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -0/+6I'm addicted to Horde mode. My 360's been sent to Microsoft (cashing in on that warranty RIGHT before it expires) and I've spent 3 days at (separate) friends houses whoring their consoles. I love the higher difficulties, where even taking down a drone is a mini-boss fight, and flame boomers, boomers, and maulers are walking nightmares.
- Bith8654, on 11/14/2008, -0/+6@IAmDali: I don't know, I thought Dom's performance was better than the typical attempt at an emotional scene. Not everyone looks up to the sky screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" when something bad happens to them. His reaction seemed like he was so shocked, he was at a loss for words. The lines he did have seemed original and natural, as he slowly came to the realization that everything he had been fighting for was gone.
- plhearn, on 11/14/2008, -0/+5Hes a child alright but by ridiculing him and attempting to make him feel stupid ("Is that too hard for you to understand or do I need to draw you a picture or something") you are showing your own immaturity.
- alecks, on 11/14/2008, -0/+5I say if you let someone get close enough to chainsaw, let it chainsaw easily. If you're within armreach, I should be able to chain you. And why would me taking a bullet have anything to do with stopping the chainsaw? I can run/fire/duck/ do everything else while taking almost a full clip. Why can't I hold the chainsaw button on my gun?
I like what they did with it. It makes you think more strategically a bit since you know not to get too close now. - lsdarling, on 11/14/2008, -0/+5I actually prefer the 4 person teams. Gears is meant to have a different feel than the large scale combat games like COD. The 5 person teams aren't bad, but I think 8 would take away some of the games character.
