So doesn't that mean the glitch that allows you to see the Spartan's face might not be proving the Master Chief's real identity after all.

It's been long established that RTS games and consoles don't really mix, so what did Ensemble do? They redesigned everything. It's still an RTS, but it's an RTS that actually works with ten buttons, two joysticks and a directional pad.
- CrimsonBlur, on 03/07/2009, -1/+8I would say Killzone 2 is really an answer to Gears of War, not Halo. Sure, one is an FPS and one is Third-person, but the cover gameplay, art direction, story and violence are very similar.
Halo really shares nothing with a game like Killzone 2 other than being a FPS and having a great Online component, which Gears also has. Despite that, Gears still has plenty of 10-year-old shouting, and so will Killzone.
I do agree with you though that Microsoft needs to come out with a first-party FPS that is more like Killzone and less like Halo. - ImYourRealDad, on 03/07/2009, -1/+8So let me get this straight:

- krazykor, on 03/07/2009, -1/+5this theory about the chief's identity doesn't really work. assuming the books and the game (halo wars that is) are both supposed to be canon, the character that this article proposes is the master chief couldn't really be him since in the books, when he was doing missions he was always a spartan in armor, never just a regular soldier.

Halo Wars IS a decent strategy game for a console. Why would you write it off without trying it?
Is it as deep or as overall as good a game as the top PC rts? No. But its a good, solid quality game with manageable controls.
You wanted it to be made for pc, but the primary reason it DOES work is because it wasn't made for the PC. Shoehorning starcraft and cnc onto a psx or n64 controller is why they failed, they were designed for the pc. Make it from the ground up for the 360 and while it isn't as fast or deep as it could be on PC it still gives the 360 a fully functioning fun RTS.. and given the options on PC Id rather the 360 get 1 than the PC get its 500th. - Borgcube, on 03/07/2009, -0/+4Well good for you.

If you win the game you get a 1.4x score multiplyer. If you lose you get 1.2x. If you quit you still get what points you earned but no multiplyer.
Not to mention the guy who didn't quit gets the win and the guy who quits gets the loss obviously.

Anyone who read The Fall of Reach novel can tell you that he was destined for the MJOLNIR armor from childhood, taken from his home and trained to inhuman limits alongside his peers à la Ender's Game. Master Chief's name WAS John, but he had a healthy career as spartan long before the first game, documented in the first affiliated novel. okay. my nerd rant is over. in closing, that editor is sexy as hell.

Take the same game, one on the PC, one on the console, with everything else equal, PC version will be better. The console game may not be bad, but it won't be as good as the PC version.

Sonic is the most overrated series of all time. Halo is overrated. The first one was good for it's time and place, but wasn't earth shattering. Again I think the multiplayer has more to do with it than anything. But Sonic is the most overrated. There were about 4 good Sonic games. But how many do we have now that suck? Halo 1-3 may be scored 2-3 points too high on a 1-10 scale, but Sonic... Sonic has made piles of crap for the last two generations of console. So burry me. I understand, it's hard to give up on old franchises. But deep down, you know there at least some truth in what I say. I want Sega to take it's head out of it's ass and make great games, and waiting politely hasn't worked. So I'm calling them out on their *****. You just can't make a decent strategy game for console. Starcraft 64 was a pale imitation of Starcraft; Command & Conquer on PS1 was a pale imitation of its PC counterpart, etc. It's proof the motivation for Halo Wars was to be a cash-in that they didn't make it for PC.
The Halo games themselves were much better on console, because of the simplification of the FPS genre they made to make them work on the console, but strategy games with a controller?
