- Quintios, on 01/10/2008, -7/+51Dear Canada,
We're having an awesome online tournament. You're not invited. Please don't be jealous, but you never were cool to begin with.
Signed, USA - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -2/+42"Finally, the US Army will be sponsoring a Destination Experience site on Xbox Live that will serve up videos, tips and expert Halo 3 advice. "
Hey kids, come join the Army! Its just like Halo in real life, except you DIE - 93TILL503, on 01/10/2008, -0/+23What if I lag out there? I'm dead.
- jtbndy, on 01/10/2008, -2/+18Protip: There are no re-spawn points in real life.
- soulknowledge, on 01/10/2008, -0/+16The army uses plasma rifles now?... I think it's time to finally enlist
- smergs, on 01/10/2008, -2/+16Dugg for what looked pretty cool when I was looking at it on the 360 dashboard last night.
However, I don't understand the US Army sponsoring this. Do they think they would recruit people from Halo??? Seems like they'd want to sponsor something like this with the Americas Army game or maybe COD4. - Typhoon2009, on 01/10/2008, -2/+16The Army isn't looking for potential recruits based on their Halo abilities. They're probably trying to just pique people's interests in joining the Army.
- rockwithme000, on 01/10/2008, -2/+14But we can still respawn, right?
- FeartheKnighted, on 01/10/2008, -2/+13dude...it's CANADA
you're like America's hat. - zyl0x, on 01/10/2008, -1/+12Well yeah, how's the US Army going to recruit foreigners?
- NoCt1, on 01/10/2008, -3/+14rofl.
- AvidPreatorian, on 01/10/2008, -1/+11"War as a videogame, what better way to raise the ultimate soldier?"
- Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid series - jfowler27, on 01/10/2008, -0/+10Or you like and play both...
I prefer to play CoD4 on my 360 when I'm just gaming by myself or with a couple friends who also have Live. I prefer to play Halo 3 with a bunch of friend in the same room. - zyl0x, on 01/10/2008, -6/+16Wow. What genius thinks that Halo 3 skills equate to real-life weapons skills? The US Army must be getting desperate for recruits.
Oh, and that's not a good thing, by the way. - InspectorGadget, on 01/10/2008, -0/+9Was that supposed to be a comeback of some sort?
- wgerik, on 01/10/2008, -1/+10Assuming that the XBox Live servers are fixed by April?
/cynicism - jmreid, on 01/10/2008, -0/+8Yvan Eht Nioj
- ThetaDot, on 01/10/2008, -0/+7I don't know why some of you think there is some elaborate scheme by the US Army to recruit people. It's called visibility. The US Army looks for opportunities to increase visibility. They'll probably have some recruiters there, yes, but it's not some big sneaky move.
- zeno60, on 01/10/2008, -0/+7Just like how they recruit illegal aliens?
- Hetman, on 01/10/2008, -0/+5That is not true. I love halo. But I have been playing COD3 a lot. And when you get on a good team their does become a team leader. And if he is good and people listen you can really pwn people. Choosing between halo and COD4 is like choosing a cloud in heaven. Regardless of which one you pick their both good choices.
- Shiftgood, on 01/10/2008, -0/+5you can win team objectives by yourself at level 50?
Are you this Jesus guy everyones been talking about for the last 2k years? - inactive, on 01/10/2008, -26/+31Ha, expect army junk mail afterwards. Man the military is desperate. America, you are not so cool anymore.
Signed,
Canada - Shiftgood, on 01/10/2008, -0/+5Ok, best fps of all time? CS 1.6... (and i would own you, not kidding). The thing you are missing is that when i play H3 or any console game, i have a bunch of friends around screaming at the tv and throwing beers at each other and passing js around.
when you play your awesome PC game with your $150 headshot mouse. You're by yourself... in you're room... and your mom is asking you what kind of hot pockets you want for dinner. - darlyn, on 01/10/2008, -0/+5Nah, they always have the same maps. I'll stick with Halo.
- killdashnine, on 01/10/2008, -0/+5Whatever happened to LAN events? Although online events are nice, nothing compares to the good 'ol local area network.
- DukeMojo, on 01/10/2008, -4/+8I don't understand the appeal of COD4, I really really don't. It feels to my like the same exact game as COD3, just a modern setting. Shoot terrorists (who else would we shoot in this day and age?) until you get to objective A and hold down a button to plant a bomb.
- hmunkey, on 01/10/2008, -1/+5I agree it was overrated. People expected it to cure cancer. It didn't, but it's still a great tournament and online game.
- 10001110101, on 01/10/2008, -0/+4I wouldn't expect the US Army to do so.. But, MS has an office in nearly every country in the world. I would expect the MS Canada would get their ***** together and approach the Canadian Armed Forces to sponsor a similar contest at the same time.. After all, I would think that the CAF would have the same reasons to gain positive publicity amongst teens that the US Army does.
- Jibberwalk, on 01/10/2008, -1/+5Every once in a while the Army gets some new DLC. I hear they have a new map pack coming out, and one of the new maps is someplace called "Tehran." It should be pretty fun until people start camping and spamming it with explosives.
- Shiftgood, on 01/10/2008, -0/+4Deal, ill accept that. Dont get me wrong, i really like COD4. But i get really frustrated when people just hide in buildings the whole time. They know the alley ways where people are going to run so they just camp... Its the same thing with Battlefield 2. I have friends that just sit around with their dip cup in one hand, at the top of a ladder and wait for people to come up... and i see some similar play in COD4. I just like the insane action in H3 that forces everyone to fight or die. It takes far more instinct and correct reaction time to pull of a triple kill... especially in H3 now that they have really balanced out all of the mulitiplayer gameplay and weapons... as apposed to camping then calling an air strike. Plus... martyr gernades need to go... and whats with the menu being the same as H3?
sorry for the rant, but im just pissed at the unwarranted negativity towards H3 recently, even though its one of the best video games of all time.... you know.. next to CS 1.6. - KingGorilla, on 01/10/2008, -1/+4Clearly america's next super soldier is in the basement
- Zezza, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3Completely Agree :)
- MackDiesel2010, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3tender
- inactive, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3The Halo recruits will be transported to the USACL (United States Army Cybernetic Lab). First batch of experimental cyborgs.
- YojimboJango, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3I thought step two was kidnapping them and placing them in relaxation vaults for aperture science.
/it's not that obscure. - Lapper, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2The US Army seems to be interested in gamers. They've also held a game design contest with thousands of dollars in cash prizes, just this year.
- plizard, on 01/10/2008, -3/+5they should have a cod4 one instead!
- ericrous, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2Okay, we'll get off your lawn now, pops. Go back to your PC before you break a hip.
- Jareth86, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2Uh, yeaaaaah...
I would've signed up for the tournament, but I don't feel like giving the army my personal info.
What? You know they will. - Jomwilli, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2your=you're
- KingGorilla, on 01/10/2008, -1/+3What happend to you America? You used to be cool
America: I'm still cool!
Nah. You've changed man - inactive, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2The winners will be kidnapped and put through forced military training where their skills will be excelled in all areas. Finally they will have no further contact with their families and be given a combat suit to fight the Islamic Armada.
- hmunkey, on 01/10/2008, -1/+3Move.
- dudefaceguyman, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2Agreed.
On live you can't hit the dumbass ***** talking noobs with blunt objects. - cello, on 01/11/2008, -0/+2cause no one in the army likes halo right?
I don't think this is some "nefarious desperate recruitment effort" - dronkmunk, on 01/11/2008, -0/+2gears of war has a lot of that type of strategy sometimes
- NaziHatinChimp, on 01/10/2008, -1/+3Buddy if you think that Halo 3 was leaps and bounds above Halo 2 your retarded. Halo 3 has a boring ranking system. I want to be able to earn things.
- fixedcoma, on 01/11/2008, -0/+1Sold my halo 3 due to cheaters, what a way to ruin a popular game!
- Tophillious, on 01/10/2008, -8/+9*prepares to get dugg down*
In my opinion, Halo 3 was way overrated. - mikeyeah, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1Shouldn't Microsoft take care of the Xbox Live problems before they start planning online tournaments?
