- maklershed, on 10/11/2007, -6/+271Isnt that the same technique you use to get your wife to make dinner and get a beer?
/jk of course - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+255he forgot to open the cd slot and blow air into it
- kyrre, on 10/11/2007, -3/+217Aaah. The good beating up your electronics trick. I tried this on my original PS2 once with GTA:San Andreas DVD in it. I went out and bought a slim PS2 the next day, and a new copy of San Andreas. I guess I should have turned off the console first :(
- CoolSilver, on 10/11/2007, -2/+176I tried this trick on my broken gateway laptop. It worked for the first 3 times. Now I need a new motherboard.
- jwdarkstar, on 10/11/2007, -3/+132That's called percussive maintenance.
- ydt89, on 10/11/2007, -6/+135omfg. I thought he was gonna do some crazy technical thing was all these complex steps. I'm laughing so hard right now.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+72What's funny is that's seriously a good way to fix most electronics. I know at first you will probably think I'm kidding, or say, "Yeah, and it's a good way to break it, too," but it really does work.
I've had everything from TVs, DVD players, coffee machines, blenders, and LAPTOPS throughout the years that all started ***** out. After a good jarring, it was all set and I never had issues again.
Thing is, machines have souls. And when you smack them, it's like disciplining your child. Till they take over and kill all of mankind. - luckyink, on 10/11/2007, -5/+74So spanking your Xbox is the new 'blow in the Nintendo cartridge' trick?
- soccerkidjp, on 10/11/2007, -4/+67dealth? the L isn't near d, e, a, t, or h.
- merrickx, on 10/11/2007, -9/+66I use this same method to get my girlfriend to work sometimes.
- Elrin, on 10/11/2007, -4/+58Now all Microsoft need to do is make a machine that does the exact same procedure over and over.
Thats the russian way of fixing things. - h0merg0mez, on 10/11/2007, -4/+48I work for Microsoft and they do the same thing to repair them. Except we use a hammer instead of our hands.
- griz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+43Common sense says, don't post the same thing 3 times.
- selfdisplaced, on 10/11/2007, -8/+45"Guy posts video to videos section!!!!"
- driftwood07, on 10/11/2007, -2/+39i feel like i am in bizarro world, am i the only one that notices that is clearly a case modded x-box, meaning the case was obviously opened and furthermore the "red ring of death" could have even been staged with LED's. and another thing, he doesnt just push the button to turn it on, he uses a little screw driver device... bury me if this makes no sense, otherwise bury this story.
- Yeabudy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+38The good 'ol Donatello touch, eh?
- mrmacky, on 10/11/2007, -3/+37Dugg because I was so not expecting him to hit it.
- spudnic, on 10/11/2007, -2/+36Why not Yoda grammar use
- Jawsh91, on 10/11/2007, -2/+36I hate when people say this but here goes...
Hi, you must be new here! - cambob76, on 10/11/2007, -1/+28Maybe he's just the Brazilian Fonze! Ehhhhhhh....
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+27OK - So all Microsoft has to do is bundle an Xbox-branded rubber mallet with all 360s.
- thatsmyaibo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+26Does it really matter with this story? Was there a 360 patch that makes it so that punching the console won't help?
- Kranklin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+24I was getting ready to give you thumbs up until i read the last part....
- griz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+23Twice no less. In the title and description. How exactly do you accomplish this?
- CraigCarlyle, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22The AV cable unplugged results in all four quadrants lighting up, not 3.
- godd4242, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19Who the hell is joking around here?
- Noffie, on 10/11/2007, -5/+23Why is it that I can still play games on my 1980's Nintendo console, but I have yet to see any of my friend own an Xbox 360 for over a year without it bursting into brickage?
- grumbel, on 10/11/2007, -2/+20Looks like he has a modded xbox360, so no warranty for him.
- ray42, on 10/11/2007, -3/+21Ok good. Finally. Now someone needs to fix those "Red Rings of Death".
- Ocelot13, on 10/11/2007, -0/+16i believe its heat sink...but i could be wrong
- Nick22, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17really? you mispelled death in the title AND the description?
- RiverBelow, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14When the A/V cable is unplugged its FOUR red lights. Four != three.
- ODSTKuk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13f*ck why didnt i think of that
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13His fingers and brain probably thought he was typing out "health" after the "D" in D(eath). Sometimes when I want to type "cousin" I end up typing "cousing" because "ing" is more popular than ending with "in". Just my 2 cents.
- JEWestbrookJR, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13so who is the lucky fella that gets 1.7 billion from Microsoft to do this all day? Sign my ass up!
- Acidictadpole, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12That darn ring of dealth.. Tricky bastard.
Good ol' percussive maintenance. Never fails. - specialK16, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Moving parts.
- knodi, on 10/11/2007, -5/+16Just send it in for repair, you'll get it back with a new DVD drive and a new head sink.
- 3vno, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12why see mods look closer you will
- essjay, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10I don't think the problem was you hitting the laptop, I think the problem was more down to the fact you bought it from Gateway!
- PlaidPhantom, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Then click play again. ;)
- xxNIRVANAxx, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11A sink... that gives head... I'll take two!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11This is how we fix things on the Russian space station!
- charlieyocum, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10unplugged AV cable is four flashing red lights, ring of death is three which signifies a hardware failure.
- chedabob, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Yes, yes it does. The problem lies in the X-Clamps on the underside of the motherboard for the heat sinks. When they heat up, they flex, in turn flexing the motherboard, breaking the solder connections on the underside of the GPU and RAM.
- evil-doer, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10i won the xbox 360 a month or two before it was in any stores (pepsi/doritos contest) and it broke in the first couple of weeks. while waiting for the packaging box from ms to send it back i decided to do exactly what this guy did and give it a wack. not only did it start working again, it continued working fine for over a year after that before recently having some heat issues, which i fixed with a heatsink mod.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9haha... old but appropriate.
- brodie7838, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Sweet. I'm going to start my own "Xbox 360 Repair" shop now.
- BrianOl, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Let me guess, your hard drive no longer makes weird noises... or any at all for that matter.
- minuteZERO, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7if the mallet is wireless i'm in
