- HarChim, on 04/18/2009, -0/+20lol EA did not make l4d.
- Quicksilver4648, on 04/18/2009, -4/+20What about Dead Space and Mass Effect. I would say those games are quite good.
- trapper2530, on 04/18/2009, -1/+15even the frist godfather game was like GTA, but that was cool more like a GTA 1930's style
- dampeal, on 04/18/2009, -1/+13GFII isn't perfect, but it seems this reviewer has something against EA, and is nitpicking at every little thing he can. I played the game, reviewed it actually, and found it to be quite a bit of fun, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Yeah it's not perfect, but no game is, but GF II is fun, plain and simple. Yes it gets monotonous and repetitive at times, but most games do and are. It all just depends on what you like and I guess if you hate EA or not... apparently from some of these comments, any game that comes out of EA studios is considered to be garbage. I take games as they are, a distraction from the norm of everyday life, an escape if you will, something fun to do and play.
- calvinw, on 04/18/2009, -5/+16weird, i liked it. and so did lots of other critics.

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/godf ... - Warden72, on 04/18/2009, -0/+11Mass Effect was published by Microsoft. A lot of people are nervous about EA's influence on the sequel, however.
- JackDaniels88, on 04/18/2009, -1/+11You appear to not know the diffrence between make and publish. EA dont make good games.
- Angus5, on 04/18/2009, -1/+11I found it pretty decent.
- Radan, on 04/18/2009, -1/+11Mafia will forever have a special place in my heart for being so far the only game I have ever played where driving past red light would equal a regular ticket instead of twenty police cars trying to ram you off the road like in about every other game in that genre.
- fanfablebig, on 04/18/2009, -2/+11I enjoyed the first godfather. It was the first decent GTA clone that i actually liked.
- 64705, on 04/17/2009, -26/+35Everything EA touches turns to *****. Even *****.
- tumoas, on 04/18/2009, -1/+9it took me a long while to understand that this was about Godfather and not God father
- DestroyedAUS, on 04/18/2009, -1/+9Godfather was a poor Mafia ripoff. Mafia 2 will smoke this game in terms of quality. Mafia was doing things that GTA hadn't even considered, which were later integrated into further GTA games, such as realistic handling and actually having to break in to the car.
- s4g4n, on 04/18/2009, -2/+10In otherwords we're still waiting on mafia II to be released.
- gregdigg, on 04/18/2009, -2/+8God Father 2 = Godfather II
- chokeaduck, on 04/17/2009, -6/+11Well crap. I was hoping we'd see a Wii port/rendition. I really enjoyed the Godfather Game for the Wii, and if they figured out the kinks that made that game kinda flakey, and gave us a new storyline, I thought it'd be the best of both worlds. Oh well.
- inactive, on 04/18/2009, -4/+9Having EA in the industry is like having a kid with downs in your accelerated classroom. Legally, you're obliged to keep pace with the slowest kid in the room but everyone knows that the bad ass metal kid in the back of the room has the most ***** up LSD trips in order to create his art and the nerd with the bowl hair cut is sleeping through class just to ace the tests and remind you that your work is *****.
Metaphorically speaking, of course. And no offense to any Digg'ers with downs. - MrInfallible, on 04/18/2009, -3/+8What about Spore?
s/ - LargeStack, on 04/18/2009, -4/+9EA got lucky early on and now they are the Wallmart of gaming.
We are stuck with them unfortunately. - azizrulez, on 04/18/2009, -0/+5there is a good game under the fuglyness,i just feel EA rushed it just to meet quaterly targets.
Its like Mercenaries 2 all over again, lots of potential, but just lacked polish become great. - brainboy7777, on 04/18/2009, -2/+6I agree with MasterGrief. The combat system in Mass Effect was a complete joke. Don't get me wrong, i loved the branching dialogue lines and how you could get more options by putting more points for the aggressive and passive. The story seemed great. However, the combat system and the completely unnecessary cover system did it for me.
- MasterGrief, on 04/18/2009, -3/+7If you strictly concerned yourself with the backstory and the overall feel of the universe of Mass Effect, it was an incredible game. Something never seen before. If you tried to actually play it, though, good freakin luck.
Even the good weapons were underpowered, it was difficult to move properly in combat, and there was the ever-present threat of the Geth showing up for no reason and killing you because you couldn't defend yourself. In the highly likely event you died, you'd be treated to about six unskippable seconds of agony watching the camera rotate around your character's corpse in grayscale. I understand it's an RPG, but missions shouldn't *always* go horribly wrong. Not every remote outpost has to be filled with hostiles or be built on the exact same footprint. - TheBlueVulcan, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4Beetle Adventure Racing is still the amazing exception. Oh, and Henry Hatsworth!
- inactive, on 04/18/2009, -1/+5I had the first Godfather game for PC. It was really fun. The story was ridiculous to a fan of the films, but my god, the carnage you could cause in that game was epic. There's nothing quite like throwing someone by their neck out of a fifth story window while two dozen half naked women run out of the building screaming.
- inactive, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4I love flamethrowers.
- bigteebo, on 04/18/2009, -1/+4You strongarmed Quagmire?
- AtheistPride13, on 04/19/2009, -1/+4I enjoyed the flashback more the the rest of the movie but all in all its a great film. I like the first one better but the second is still great
- Megalomatthew, on 04/18/2009, -2/+5EA is a massive publisher/developer so chances are, some of the games they're involved with are going to be crap but my point also works the other way. EA has been involved in some fantastic games. Your argument is old...come up with something new.
- Randki, on 04/18/2009, -10/+13Ultima 6-7?
Ultima Online?
Wing Commander?
Sims?
Dead Space?
Mirrors Edge?
Rock Band?
Crysis?

Medal of Honor?
Dugeon Keper?
Command and Conquer?
Skate or Die!?
Populous?
The Bards Tale (85)
Left 4 Dead
Mass Effect (Published by EA on Windows, MS on Xbox)
Privateer?
I could go on and on, but the thing is, EA makes a CRAP load of good games.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Electronic_Ar ... - NeoTechni, on 04/18/2009, -1/+4"I was hoping we'd see a Wii port/rendition"
You were hoping for a crappier, dumbed down version? - mabsark, on 04/19/2009, -0/+2I've got to agree with Randki and AmazingSteve. EA used to publish great games. Now though, their games are mostly mediocre, with the occasional decent but not not great game. Throw DRM into the equation and the result is me getting EA games from TPB. Red Alert 3 was a ***** insult to RTS gamers.
- DestroyedAUS, on 04/18/2009, -1/+3It was thinking ahead of it's time and trying new things, which made it an awesome game. I rate it up there with Max Payne and Deus Ex.
- Radan, on 04/18/2009, -1/+3Thank you. While I haven't played this particular game yet, I think EA has been getting a lot better lately. It feels like they have acknowledged their previous (current?) bad reputation and are now trying to change it. I absolutely loved both Mass Effect and Dead Space, and of course about every one of Dice's games are good.
I think we need to overhaul or blind hatred of EA, and actually look at the games for what they are, published by EA or not. - mabsark, on 04/19/2009, -0/+2Yes, EA have been involved in some fantastic games, but not within the last couple of years.
Dugeon Kepeer was ***** fantastic.
Command and Conquer was fantastic, but that was from Westwood before EA took them over.
Red Alert 3 was total garbage.
Populous was great
The Bards Tale was great
Privateer was great
Medal of Honor was great.
Dead space was good, not fantastic.
Mass Effect was good not great.
Madden has always been *****.
Can you se the pattern there, the old EA games were great, but the new EA games are good at best, mostly mediocre. - edwadokun, on 04/18/2009, -0/+2only mass effect for the 360 is published by microsoft.. PC is published by EA.. and publishing doesnt mean anything but putting out the money to mass produce it, market and put it on the shelves
- strictnein, on 04/18/2009, -2/+4You could just feel that this game was not finished, that there was a lot more depth in the original design.
The whole thing with other families attacking your businesses are interesting, but once you get a couple guys in your family, it's pointless. Just send two or three guys there and you'll always defeat them.
I've won the game and there's absolutely nothing left to do, other than going around and executing people. - duffboy700, on 04/18/2009, -1/+3It felt like GTA and monopoly mashed up
- Randki, on 04/18/2009, -1/+3A lot of people have some problem with EA, usually saying "everything they touches sucks!", when in Reality EA has made a crap load of great games, and another crap load of ok games.
People dont really think things through, they just like to whine. - JollyDumple, on 04/19/2009, -1/+3Well, Mafia 2 still looks amazing.
http://kotaku.com/5217800/norway-gives-us-mafia-ii ... - Jpatano, on 04/18/2009, -1/+3what part of that game was fun ?
i bought it the day it came out, because i REALLY liked the original for the old xbox. upon getting home i quickly realised that this game was a steaming pile of *****.
Let's start with the vehicles. They are SO slow, and handle like *****. But even if you do manage to get used to that, if you happen to graze a portion of a concrete divider, or any other object, your car will come to an immediate stop. Not to mention that there are so many objects that you cannot drive through. objects that an old model solid steel car should be able to barrel through without even slowing down.
Now let's talk about the rackets. in the original there were TONS of businesses for you to take over, and make money from. in this game there are maybe 1/10th of the businesses. Instead of making more locations, it seems that what they did was make the few in the game these sprawling compounds that have only one or two ways to get in, and force you to run around for 10 minutes trying to get back out after you've captured it. It's also sometimes difficult to find the owner to extort them. i must have spent 45 minutes running around in one business looking for the owner after killing all the guards before i realised he was outside behind a dumpster... WTF! Plus the crime ring bonuses are cool, except you can't access half of them until you unlock the last map in the game.
Let's talk about basic gameplay. The combat is actually pretty fun. That is probably the only positive thing i have to say about the game. NPC's routinely spawn inside of another NPC. side mission objectives will sometimes not appear even though the mini map shows them right next to you. you have to leave and come back and then they will appear. Clipping in this game is HORRENDOUS!! why does my character get stuck on a damn velvet rope!?!?!?!? seriously.... can i not jump over a rope ? or jump at all !? you can vault over low objects, but it seems that what you can, and can't vault is completely random. The usefulness of the mini map is very limited.
this game was delayed by almost a month from it's original release date, and it looks like it should have been delayed at least another month. it is unfinished. do yourself a favor, save yourself $50, go out and spend $10 on the original godfather from gamestop. pass on this garbage. I have been so disappointed by like the last 4 titles i have bought new lately. STOP RELEASING UNFINISHED GAMES!!! i don't care if it takes them an extra 6 months to get a game on the shelves, make it fun! make it work! for *****'s sake, am i the only one that expects a quality product for my $60 ? - AtheistPride13, on 04/19/2009, -0/+2i beat mass effect on the hardest setting twice and I only died maybe 2-3 times each I dont see where it was that hard
Anyway the story and dialogue made it one of my all time favorite games - mlock2k, on 04/20/2009, -0/+2If anyone has any dought if games have hit the mainstream let this game be a prime example. This was a solid game not perfect but very good and the game reviews are starting to sound like TV series reviews or movie reviews and I think we all know how informing they are. I think Game reviews cannot be honestly taken serious at all because unlike the mainstream TV we can have our games like we can have our McDonalds our way. If you like shooters you can play shooters if you like sandbox type games then play them till your heart stops. But get used to these non game people telling you what games are good or not because big business has reared its ugly head into our gaming world. Godfather 2 kicked ass and gene sizzle and roger Ebert can suck a med pack
- DarkoKun, on 04/18/2009, -2/+4I beat the game and am 1 achievement away from 1000/1000 but I thought the game lacked things to do and was too easy. The A.I is retarded! I just ran thru every business and took it over one after the other. Most of the time by myself without the need to use my made men. It kind of seems the godfather 1 was better than this game.
- brainboy7777, on 04/18/2009, -1/+3Don't compare open-world games to gta4. Gta 4 set a standard that no one can beat for a long while. It had about 3 and a half years of development time. The Godfather 2 had 2. GTA 4 has an amazing story that is perfect for video games. The Godfather franchise has the best story ever, however, best for cinema, not video games. Also, this is not an original IP. The only good EA games, see Dead Space, are original IPs.
- brainboy7777, on 04/18/2009, -1/+3I'm betting you didn't play a lot of the story missions or beat the game. Most people say its boring because they do side *****, like blowing crap up. GTA 4 is not meant for that. That's Saints Row 2. Gta 4 is meant for the story. You actually think about the ending.
People like to compare Saints Row 2 with GTA4. SR2 had some really good moments, ie. spraying ***** on houses. But after awhile, the side-missions got boring and the story was pure garbage. I beat GTA4 twice, just to see the other ending. Very few video games impact you. GTA4 is one of them. - TheTikiTony, on 04/19/2009, -0/+2Mass Effect was Microsoft, and Dead Space felt the taint, even if it was still a masterpiece.
- brainboy7777, on 04/18/2009, -5/+7Apart from GTA4, Dead Space is my GOTY for 2008.
- mabsark, on 04/19/2009, -1/+2There is a reason for the EA bashing. They used to release great games. Now they release games which should have been great, but are mediocre, with the occasional decent game such as Deadspace.
I'll stop bashing them when they stop focusing on useless DRM, and release some great games again. - mabsark, on 04/19/2009, -0/+1That's because EA used to publish great games, whereas most games from EA over the last couple of years have been dissapointing.
Dungeon Keeper was fantastic.
Red Alert 3 was an insult to RTS fans. -
