I.e. you play against a Rockstar employee and win, you get the achievement, next game I play against you and I win, and I get the achievement.

- StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -0/+9In essence, they're egostrokers, but they also have a great effect of prolonging the life of games. Once you've "finished" the game, you can go back and get the achievements as a way to create extra gameplay that you may not otherwise have done.

I love achievements, they make the game more fun in my opinion and get you to do things in game that you probably would have chosen not to do because of difficulty. Whenever I consider getting a ps3 I remind myself that I would never play it because there are no achievements.

Just little reminders on my digital trophy wall of what I've done in each game I've played in the past. I like the gallery view you have of them now on the 360, because I like the icons. It's just a bit annoying when they cop out on the icons and just make every achievement look like the same thing rather than giving individual art to each one.
