- larsoncc, on 10/10/2007, -7/+166Dugg for xkcd. Personally, I love that webcomic.
- Bakkster, on 11/04/2007, -6/+159Dugg in spirit, because xkcd is my favorite webcomic.
Buried because it's over a year old and posted in the comments section of EVERY gaming thread about GH on Digg. Sorry Randall. - africansk8er, on 10/10/2007, -5/+99Another good one -
http://www.little-gamers.com/index.php?comicID=1573 - BlackTye, on 10/10/2007, -3/+59Randall Munroe [creator of XKCD] is my hero.
- AbsurdParadox, on 10/10/2007, -2/+46Come on, who doesn't know about xkcd by now?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+41Lol... the fretboard in that pic would be ridiculous.
- rationalist, on 10/10/2007, -0/+30His img tag titles always contain that extra rimshot at the end (hover over the comics)
- UglieJosh, on 10/10/2007, -1/+27http://xkcd.com/132
- thestorey, on 10/10/2007, -11/+28I saw this in a story yesterday. i hate that. I see something and think... lol. then i see it on digg the next day or a week after.
- connerdowney, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16Damn, now I have to read every single one again, with hovering.
- optikalblitz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11me too. xkcd has got to be one of the best webcomics out there.
- glacius99, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14Yeah, five buttons is so much harder than six strings and like 20 fret positions.. Just because you couldn't pick up Guitar Hero and play all the songs doesn't mean it's harder.. It definitely takes less time to master Guitar Hero songs than songs on a real guitar.. You're probably just more used to playing on a real guitar..
- PathDaemon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Also buried because the posted obviously stole this from yesterday's Dragonforce story.
- scrimaxinc, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10jordan is harder....
- shatters, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Somewhere Buckethead is laughing his ass off. Actually, "Guitar Hero Rocks the 80s" has songs that the comic describes. "Because, It's Midnite" by Limozeen comes to mind.
- HelloNavi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7older than the interbutts.
- hmunkey, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8The Dragonforce one.
- omnithought, on 10/10/2007, -7/+14The weird thing is, Guitar Hero is harder than playing an actual guitar. I can play many of the songs without a hitch on a real guitar, but can't play Guitar Hero for *****.
- Denithor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Yeah, I can't play the game either, but that is because my fingers are trained to move certain ways for certain chords. Trying to retrain something that is by now, almost instinct is very difficult, at least for me it is. The game is not harder than guitar, retraining your mind to do something different than it's instinctive reaction is what is hard.
- Mrstupid7, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Cry me a river.
- TheRealToma, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Mouse over the image for more LOL's
- blahtastic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7This is the original site, actually. If you have to digg one, might as well be this. Otherwise, yeah we've all seen this like 15 times already. (Still funny though)
- Inverno, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I never get all the text to display, right click and hit properties.
- noamsml, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Use the Long Titles firefox extension or greasmonkey script that puts the titles under the images on xkcd.
- nicpedersen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Dragonforce must have seen this comic a while ago...
- Kratisto, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8OLD COMIC IS OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD
- Matt174e, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I disagree. It's are hard.
- r3drumz, on 10/10/2007, -5/+10LOL. Yeah, this comic was in the story yesterday about the dragonforce song in GH3. i lol'ed at it yesterday too
- pensivewombat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Actually, Omnithought is correct. Once you know the proper theory and techniques most of the songs are easier to play on a guitar than to master on Guitar Hero. Because you have "six strings and like 20 fret positions" it's possible to play more notes with less motion required. An additional plus is that once you know all your chords and scales and modes, nothing ever comes as a surprise. I could play most of the easy and mid level songs in GH by ear on guitar and have a better percentage of correct notes than playing the game, even if it's a song I've never heard before. One a guitar, a half step is always one fret up, but you never know on Guitar Hero.
Please note that this is not a value judgment. I love Guitar Hero, and I love the guitar. More broadly, I love music and video games. Hell, I'd play Sousaphone Hero if they made it. http://www.theonion.com/content/news/activision_reports_sluggish_sales - Platypus3333, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Guitar Hero is the air guitar of our generation.
- Sparkster185, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3There's actually five buttons.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Also, XKCD comics are open source.
- Quey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I love xckd with all my heart, but this is just too old to digg.
- rejectpenguin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I logged in just to bury you and your story.
- hmunkey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3This was on the Dragonforce article which hit the front page yesterday.
- sQPha7e, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4old
- ominpotent123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Clicking two or three further in the jokes on the bottom, and you'll find the one about the sociopath is hilarious
- babylonian, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The best part of the comic is when you mouse over the image: "And then do it again in a moment now that they're out of Star Power"
- RADEONhead, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I check that place out everyday for the comics! Good choice!
- paul1991, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If everybody on this site hasnt read all of his comics they deserve to be banned. Theres no need to digg an xkcd. Weve all read them already. And that comic is over 1 year old.
- mattousai, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3xkcdftw!
- Y0tsuya, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Um...It's just a game. We should treat it as such. I play electric and classical guitar, and find GH pretty fun.
- aaronm67, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2...you should try reading XKCD. Start from the beginning, it'll only take you a few hours. If you're any sort of a geek, you'll end up loving it.
- Jeezoflip, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i know. its called a joke.
- profOblivion, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/11174
- noamsml, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Come on. What's next? Are you gonna Digg Google.com?
OLD. - AceTracer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Anyone that doesn't already read XKCD needs to start. For that I'll digg.
- jacook11, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I know busybusy will love this
- daridave, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1wheres teh funnay?1?
- omnithought, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You did it backwards. Try not playing guitar hero, and play an actual guitar for 25 years, then go back and play Guitar Hero. Your fingers want to play as if it's actually a guitar, which is not how the game is set up.
