    Don't feel bad, know that you have bought an amazing piece of kit that you will use long after the 360 has died a natural death (or RROD).
    
    Think about it - the xbox3 will be able to play 360 games so you will have no need for it when it comes out. By that point BluRay will be the only format on the market (for a few years at least) and you can stick your ps3 elsewhere.
    
    In the mean time enjoy - Bioshock, FFXIII, GTAIV, CODIV, MGS, GT5, Tekken, Little Big Planet, etc. Better DivX support, Wireless networking, etc.

Sony is paying the price for their arrogance. This generation seems to be for the Wii, which isn't the best console or have the best variety of games but Nintendo really studied the market before releasing it. Now I'm glad I haven't bought a PS3, I think I will be going after the Xbox360 now if the landscape doesn't change in the near future.

    Did you really just say that? MS has a much better track record this generation than the PS3 does. GoW, Halo, Fable, Viva Pinata, Banjo Kazoie (looks horrible to me but some are excited about it) Dead Rising (I'm not sure if this is still exclusive,but I believe so) and Mass Effect(I realize it's on PC also, but seems it won't be coming to PS3) are some of the big ones. Also Sony does it's share of 'stealing' exclusives, with Lost Planet, Bioshock, etc.

I wont be buying FFXIII on either console - I just can't believe this has happened. It's like when they announced Bioshock was no longer a 360 exclusive - I couldn't believe that either. Oh well I guess this generation is less about exclusives and more about which system has the better hardware.
    
    After all neither system has a massive advantage with exclusivity. Halo 3 vs Killzone, Gears vs Resistance, Forza vs GT5, Viva Piniata vs Little Big Planet, MGS vs Splinter Cell: Coviction, Tekken vs (can't think of 360 exclusive great beat'em up) - then you have a string of great titles on both - FFXIII(OMG), GTA4, COD4, Bioshock, Oblivion, All the sports titles.

    From Kotaku Live Blog:
    
    Kitase: "As for development, we are using Crystal Tools for development. We are using it for the PC base. We are making the game at a faster pace. We should be able to show new footage in the future."
    
    Question: By using the the crystal tools, what's the work load for localization?
    Kitase says they're currently running it on a pc, so they don't know the work load of getting it on the 360. they are putting priority on the PC version.
    
    So that might be a disguised confirmation.
    
    Maybe Nvidia will announce it or something?

    Because of piracy (and wanting to sell console units) game makers who release for PC have traditionally waited a few months after the console release. So even if we have to wait six months past XBOX and PS3 release, it's worth it!

This could possibly mean that gameplay would be very similar but the graphics could differ. I'm still very happy with my PS3. It has good games on it and the Blu Ray drive is a huge plus. I'm waiting to see what Sony counters with.

Mainly becuase its a game focused on the hardcore MGS fans, and those guys have already bought and finished it. Has everyone forgotten the huge cooling issues the ps3 had? Every single one of the ps3 kiosks in the EB's and GameStop's in my area broke within the first two weeks we got them.

    I don't get this line of thinking. I own both an xbox360 (well two of them, one broken and one working) and a PS3 and I'd rather play on PS3 any day. PS3 runs quieter and cooler and it doesn't have a nasty ugly power brick, plus its disks carry more data and its interface is vastly superior to the xbox360 dashboard vomit. PS3 is better hardware in every way from the consumer point of view.
    
    So if a game comes out on both consoles, I'd rather play a PS3 version.

  I originally bought my PS3 mainly for FFXIII and MGS4. I've gotten to play and see other titles on the PS3 and I have to say that even without exclusivity on FFXIII, the PS3 still stands on it's own. Those who don't already own a PS3 may see this as one less reason to buy a PS3 but we're only a couple years into this gen's cycle and I wouldn't be too quick to judge. The console has already proven itself to be an entirely different experience than that to the 360. It'll be interesting to see where it goes from here and what announcements come out in the next week.

    I don't own a PS3, but my buddy has one, and I've played three games for it, Uncharted, F1, and MGS4. They didn't make me want a PS3 at all. When I play a really good game, I can't stop thinking about it until I play it more, which usually means I have to buy it. But that was never the case with any of those games. I'm not gonna get into my views on MGS4, but Uncharted and F1 while both very nice looking and decently playing games, were just missing any kind of personality. And the graphics are not better than the 360. I haven't seen anything on the PS3 that impressed me as much as Bioshock on 360. I know it's *coming soon* for PS3 but I wouldn't be able to handle NOT having that game when it came out a YEAR ago.
    
    Another thing that bothers me is how disconnected Sony's big-wigs can be. Like the statement that jackass made about the Wii being an "expensive device" or whatever the hell he said. And then he went on to say that the PS3 is "still the best way to get a BluRay player" or some crap like that. That was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I think the PS3 is in serious trouble after today's E3 announcements about the Xbox 360 Netflix deal and FFXIII especially. They've still got their foot secure in Japan, but American's aren't buying into the BluRay *****. Even my friend who has one says he can't tell the difference between an upscaled DVD and a BR movie. Sure, I can tell a difference, but it goes to show that not everyone is gonna be able to appreciate the difference.

I don't totally agree with DarkDx that Sony is simply "getting crappier" this generation. Their *****-sure approach to the whole PS3 launch came back to bite them in the ass hard, and as a result they've spent over year reorganizing their priorities and trying to fix things that shouldn't have been broken to begin with.
  
  Overall, Sony has really stepped up since they released the shameful launch PS3. Remember that Ars PS3 re-review from a while back? They've been working hard to make things right in every single category, and my guess is that courting third-parties, even such long term and high profile ones as Square, ended up on the back burner. I don't really think it was something that simply slipped under their radar. It was most likely an executive decision that had to be made in order to save Sony's game division. They've put fixing and improving the PS3 first and foremost, and I don't think anyone can fault them for that.
  
  This isn't an excuse, but simply a reality. When you put it in perspective it is a huge loss for Sony, but ultimately it's the gamers who win.
  
  Personally, FFXIII was never on my list of reasons for wanting a PS3, so honestly it makes little difference. I still want Blu-Ray. I still want an easy to upgrade on the cheap HDD. I still want MGS4 and GT5. I still want DivX playback. There are plenty of reasons to buy a PS3 still, and I think it's silly that people are saying "No reason to buy a PS3 anymore!" when prior to this announcement FFXIII was just a line-item in the console debate that got very little discussion time anyways (and was generally scoffed at by 360 fanboys, I might add).

  The Xbox 360 can barely *handle* Lost Odyssey, and needed to sprawl it across four discs, while the PS3 could laugh at it, render it clearer, and store it all on one BD.
  
  IMHO, FFXIII was the deciding factor for Sony. It saddens me that just over a little more money, the PS3 won't get the glory it deserves...

Read it on kotaku and other sites liveblogging the SE conference. And it may not even be out on 360 in Japan.
  So we will likely have Japan Release PS3. time...US/EU release PS3.. time..US/EU 360 release.

Now that investment is not worth as much (nothing at all for him maybe?) since it is going to be out for the XB360, which he already had.
- aeoo, on 07/14/2008, -6/+7Don't be an idiot. I own both xbox360 and a PS3 and I play all multi-plats on PS3 because it is vastly better hardware. Period. I love the PS3 controller as well. PS3 itself is much better than xbox360 in every way as a console (I'm not talking about services like internet gaming). And PS3 net is free. That's huge in my book, because I don't like to pay a recurring fee for a console.
  
  PS3 rocks. It sucks that Sony let the FF exclusivity slip, but PS3 is still great. If PS3 claims even just 1/3rd of the market, it will still be very appealing to all the 3rd party vendors. And that means that we, the gamers, can enjoy the multi-plats on a superior hardware.

    When it comes down to it, the closest of the two consoles, feature-wise, are not that far apart in price. Pro 360 + WiFi is $450, 60GB PS3 is what, $500? There's no more comparison as far as high-def disc formats goes (although that used to bump the price of a feature-matched 360 to ~$650), but the PS3 has a leg up on that even though it's slightly cheaper.
