The one huge advantage they had over Microsoft was in the RPG department (especially for Japan), and they let it slip away. Add FF13 in with the other 3 RPGs Microsoft showed off at E3 today, and the 360 is all of a sudden king of RPGs. And I imagine sequels for Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon are coming, too.....

Which makes sense, since the install base for the 360 exists, I mean, is big in NA unlike in Japan. Oh well, sucks for the 104 hardcore 360 owners in Japan.

I Love the FF series. But after FF 11 online I knew it was a matter of time until Sqaure jumped ship to tap into the larger American 360 market.
I got my PS3 for MGS4 and the anticipation of FF13..
I am speechless. Sony better have some huge trick up their sleeve or this round goes to M$.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure going multi-platform also has something to do with the fact that this long-in-development game is proving to be quite an expensive one to make for Square Enix. Not ruling out Sony yet, can't wait to see what they have up their sleeves tomorrow*.

If Square gets more money, that's more money they can invest in Final Fantasy XIV development for everyone to enjoy. FFXIII being released on the 360 doesn't stop me from enjoying it as expected on the PS3, and why would I be anything but happy when a lot of my friends that have 360s can now play a great RPG alongside with me?
- NotOptium, on 07/14/2008, -1/+53Disk swappage wouldn't bother me a bit. It's sort of faux pas these days, but I didn't mind having 4 discs for FF8 and 9. It was kind of nice to get to the end of a disc--like finishing a really long chapter in a book.
