- Mast3rDigg3r, on 12/05/2007, -12/+73isn't this kinda late? I thought everybody was done with bioshock..
- raitchison, on 12/05/2007, -2/+34I've already beaten the game on hard (sitting at 1000/1100 now) and I am tempted to not even bother with this achievement, I'm pretty sure that it will feel like grinding to get through it.
- inactive, on 12/05/2007, -8/+27This is not enough, bioshock has SO MUCH AWESOME POTENTIAL. 100 acheivement points for doing something I've done 3 times already? Some crappy Plasmids? If I ran 2K this is how I'd roll:
Plasmid: Re-animate Dead as minions
Plasmid: Plaster Blaster (that crap sander did) to paralyse foes, but they are invulnerable while plastered.
+ 3 more plasmids based on what the community wants
+ 5 more tonics, based on what the community wants
+1 Big Daddy type (Slo mo Bro anyone?)
+3 Splicers
+ 3 Splicer Animals (I'm sick of just killing humanoids, why not something unique and unexpected? An idea prevalent in Halo, Mass effect, Half life etc...)
+ Build Turrets from scratch
+ INTERMEDIATE ENDING for those who arent pure evil or pure good (with CG of course)
+ a decent side quest
+ Duel Weilding guns or duel weilding plasmids.
Acheivements would be split between:
Getting Intermediate ending
Zero usage of Vita Chambers
Finish side quest
Kill 5 Slo mo Bro's
I know this is a big list and a lot, but why the hell not? Something notable for a game that was hyped so much, why limit our Demands? They fuel suppy and creation...
BTW THANKYOU FOR BUGFIX. UR KING. - inactive, on 12/05/2007, -2/+20http://360.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=11782
Example of widescreen fix, huge adjustment. - moskaudancer, on 12/05/2007, -3/+18There was always the option to simply not use them. They were never necessary in the first place.
- ZachSka87, on 12/05/2007, -3/+17It's not downloadable. There was an article a while back talking about how someone found all the code in the game for these things. They were there when you bought the game, this just unlocks them for use now.
- NaziHatinChimp, on 12/05/2007, -1/+14Damn it no reanimate the dead.
As for no Vita Chambers, just save and reload. - KnockoutNerd, on 12/05/2007, -2/+14They were but now there is new content!
- minusfluke, on 12/05/2007, -2/+14The ending didn't suck. It just didn't make me go OMGWTFBBQ like getting into Ryan's office did.
- Rev0lver, on 12/05/2007, -7/+16Removal of vita-chambers definitely gives it the difficulty boost the game needed to live up to it's predecessors.
- jpriest87, on 12/05/2007, -1/+9I still want to play this game.
- inactive, on 12/05/2007, -2/+9It's free dumbass its a patch, learn how to read.
- gunnarg, on 12/05/2007, -0/+7Some of us just got a 360! Planning on getting Bioshock soon!
- omnirusa, on 12/05/2007, -1/+7Aye that was me.
Old copy of my original post on 2k's forums for those still interested to see what else they still are holding back:
http://www.gamesinfobase.com/source.php?t=Four_New ... - Kidsturk, on 12/05/2007, -0/+5Yeah, that was an awesome headf**k.
Kudos to 2K for the whole shebang. - KSUdesigner, on 12/05/2007, -1/+6Which one?
- bergur1, on 12/05/2007, -3/+8My game worked fine and it did on thousands of others computer due to the great optimization.
- MatttK, on 12/05/2007, -0/+5Yeah, I have always just loaded back when I died.
- smergs, on 12/05/2007, -0/+4Actually I bought it around the time it came out and I still haven't finished it yet. And then I left it behind and started playing Halo 3 when it came out. I put it in last night and man, what was I thinking? it's a great game. Kinda glad I didn't finish before all of the new content came though. I can see how it might not be fun to go all the way back through the game just to enjoy the new content.
- KSUdesigner, on 12/05/2007, -1/+5Well that pretty much is the formula for a FPS, what did you expect?
- logandurand, on 12/05/2007, -1/+4There's a reason the developer's chose to make the wide screen mode shorter: It preserved the original F.O.V. that the artists intended for you to see. Games aren't movies, wider is not always better.
- yobbo, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3Good news that, not only do you get a wider field of vision (true widescreen) but now you get to see that you're wearing a light coloured fleecy jumper, as you can see more of your arms now.
- Chirp08, on 12/05/2007, -8/+11Yeah, this really doesnt' make up for the lack of multiplayer, it doesn't bring anything truly new, and what they do give you as different doesn't make up for having to play through 99% of the same game again to "enjoy"
- boris92, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3Total liar
- scabbers, on 12/05/2007, -4/+7Explain yourself. Are you trying to tell me Bioshock has some kind of great replay value I can't see because of my terrible attention span?
- end3rthe3rd, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3Looks like I picked a good time to buy Bioshock. =D
- ilves7, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2http://www.2kgames.com/bioshock/support/
idiots.. the patch can be found in there.. - raitchison, on 12/05/2007, -0/+2Bioshock DOES have great replay value and if you don't see that you must have a terrible attention span, I've played it through twice so far and both experiences were completely different. I've been holding off playing through again until the DLC came out.
- splinecl, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2why does every freaking game need multiplayer, there are tons of great multiplayer games out there, who gives a ***** about multiplayer in bioshock.
- herrshuster, on 12/05/2007, -0/+2some of us have pixel shader 2.0b/c/w/e cards and are waiting for a patch
- PixelEater, on 12/05/2007, -1/+3The list of things they fixed? I kinda quit playing because of those things. Time to get back to it.
- hordak, on 12/05/2007, -0/+2Some of us haven't upgraded our video cards yet, and the one that we want (8800gt) is VERY hard to come by right now.
- brufleth, on 12/05/2007, -0/+2That's what FPS games are. The biggest changes from Doom and Wolfenstein have been graphical.
- raitchison, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1I was hoping for a whole extra part of Rapture to explore.
- Kidsturk, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1You don't need to. If you managed to get through without using the Vita-Chambers before, just load up before the final battle and win, and bing, 100 points.
- ChildeRoland420, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1He's saying that not everyone buys a game the week it comes out. Some people still want it months later and buy it then.
- Christbait, on 12/05/2007, -1/+2I hate Bioshock and most FPS trash, but I would say it's quite original, at least for those who are fed up with macho war games.
- astyanax, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1Pissed there is no Teleport plasmid. How hard would that have been to do, wasn't it one of the ones on disk alrready waitng to be unlocked? Grrr.
- encognito, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1I only played it once on medium saving all the little sisters. I am in the process of playing through it again on easy with an online walk through harvesting all the little sisters and taking LOTS of pictures. I missed a lot of stuff, plasmids, Cohen's room, PTTP machines the first time around. I am really taking my time and enjoying it. I plan to play it one more time on hard of course.
- inactive, on 12/05/2007, -1/+2psshhh i can bareley call that DLC, these plasmids were already in the game and the no vita chamber is probably the only real thing im looking forward too.
- boris92, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1WTF is all this
- orph3us, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1was wondering why my game took so long to update... just loaded it up again cuz i got an ati 3870 and i can finally play it at my native res with all effects up! The new plasmids seem kinda lame though... blaster one is like telekinesis but it doesn't do that much damage.. whateva, im enjoying the dx10 graphics and a new update is always welcome
- Asvetic, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1At work, content blocked. Can someone post a list of what's new?
- scabbers, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1Oh, *buys* ;)
- kilodelta, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1does it improve on the lameness the game turns into after "the big shocking plot twist"?
seriously, this game had the second lamest end boss (halo 3 beat it) ever. - Marcsib, on 12/05/2007, -2/+3A game that isn't formulaic and has some originality would be nice
- splinecl, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1Agree, dont see how no vita chambers makes it harder, unless you consider saving and loading to be hardcore mode. I have never used a vita chamber anyway, if i die i always reload.
- Kurisuku, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1Why would I lie about this? I bought it for the figurine, I had no intentions to play it from the get go. You want my gamertag for proof I never played it?
- raitchison, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1No but I used the ***** out of the vita-chambers before on hard, Heck I don't think I got through "welcome to Rapture" without dying, mostly because I had underestimated how much harder hard was going to be.
- smergs, on 12/05/2007, -1/+2Well, it could be seen as a marketing thing. Maybe they wanted to wait until December to get people talking about Bioshock again around the holidays. it might help them get some sales from the people who didn't already play the game. Other than this update, at this point it was starting to be forgotten and lost in the long list of other great games that came out in the past 3 or 4 months. This update caused the game to get front paged on Digg. Free publicity?
I hadn't finished the game yet, so I'm one of the lucky few that isn't going to have to go back and start over to enjoy the new updates. Played last night and tried out some of the new plasmids. :) -
