Im so sick of all these articul sights taking way to many pages to get there point accross. Cool pics thought - nixpix66, on 11/26/2008, -1/+22....No Joker?
- Hoogs, on 11/26/2008, -1/+13Ha ha, Sarah Palin is perfect!
- SpectralSounds, on 11/25/2008, -11/+21Why can't we resize and rotate facial features of our avatars in the NXE? The Wii lets you do that, you'd think Microsoft would at least try to make it as functional as the Miis.
- hollismb, on 11/26/2008, -0/+10You see those lines of letters underneath the pictures? Well, if you combine them together, using the spaces between them as separators, they make these things called 'words'. And, if you read them, they'll tell you that to make that look, they had to start with a female avatar.
Now, about females: I know you may not have seen one before, but they have these things called 'breasts'.... - Thorpe, on 11/26/2008, -2/+11Yeah, see Microsoft has a lot more customization options. Now, why doesn't Nintendo do that?
- SpongeBad, on 11/26/2008, -2/+10Pip boy looks more like Conan O'Brien.
- winstonsmith303, on 11/25/2008, -3/+9I thought this article was going to be about celebrities and what THEY have as their avatars on NXE.
- Elranzer, on 11/26/2008, -0/+6Boobs improve anything.
- LoneWolf01, on 11/26/2008, -1/+6They haven't taken anything away or dropped their design, they've added onto it. The original Xbox menu is still there when you press the guide button.
Don't like it? Don't use it.
Don't be a whiny pain in the ass. - chaosblade77, on 11/26/2008, -2/+7I wouldn't say avatars have an advantage when it comes to the face. Even with less(?) options for specific features, Miis still offers more with what is available because of the ability to move facial features around, resize them, rotate them, and things like that. It results in much more interesting and creative caricatures and characters.
That works because of the style Nintendo and MS (and Sony, later) chose. Miis aren't meant to have a sense of realism, while Avatars apparently are. Thus, the limitations. I don't think it's a really bad thing that the Avatars don't offer those kind of features, but I'd think MS would at least allow those type of adjustments to some extent. - IxXxIRhinoIxXxI, on 11/26/2008, -0/+4So Does Michael Jackson....
- Coffeedemon, on 11/26/2008, -0/+4Voldemort looks like Billy Corgan.
- IxXxIRhinoIxXxI, on 11/26/2008, -0/+4Those are actually pretty good. I'm impressed. Sucks there not all on 1 page though.
- IKORKYI, on 11/26/2008, -0/+4i can't wait until i see them selling clothing for avatars on xbl...id like to think they wouldn't sell...but then i'd be wrong.
- acyork, on 11/26/2008, -0/+4I like how Paris Hilton looks like she just got off a horse.
- TJMcWhiskers, on 11/26/2008, -1/+5you seriously think article is spelled "articul"
WOW... I hope you aren't old enough to vote. - skyfyre, on 11/26/2008, -0/+4I will not be happy with this new Avatar thing until I can make mine look like Boba Fett.
- rsHoratio, on 11/26/2008, -0/+3look out for all the obama lookalikes

best i could do. - Remelox, on 11/26/2008, -0/+3While tempted to digg you one the ad revenue and grammar comments, tempted to bury you for not finding five pages annoying. I work at a govenment site and even with high bandwidth, the load time is not instant and sometimes is a few seconds.
On some sites, the ads produce messages I have to answer once for each ad blocked by the system. This is not a function I can change, it's controlled by the administrator. So for each page, I have to click on the page, and then click on up to three dialog boxes. This is extremely inconvenient for stories with little on each page. I don't get through them.
On stories with 30 or 40 pages, and yes there have been a few, I won't make it past the second because the time to load is often the same as how long it takes to read a page or look at the picture on the page. Not very efficient.
So, for you, neutral. No digg or bury. - bleutuna, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2Is it just me, or do other people really dislike the Xbox360 avatars?
Technically, they're graphically superior to the Mii's, but the truth is - the options are so limited. None of my friends look like themselves in their avatars, and the same with me. But on the Wii, with that simple Mii editor, it was extremely easy to make avatars that looks just like us.
Part of it's the options, but part of it's the lack of options. When I can't increase/decrease the size of things like ears or eyes or glasses and I can't move the position of things, it just screws up the ability to make these things look like the person.
Mii's ftw. - jordanmoore, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2Awesome.
- YourMemeSucks, on 11/26/2008, -1/+3Dugg for Michael Jackson's lady hat.
- Chrysalii, on 11/26/2008, -1/+3It's not a bug, it's a feature.
- AndrewDB, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2You mean the real one doesn't?
- kingjaydub, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2I pitty the fool who doesn't like the Mr. T avatar.
- Slique22, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2The active downloads menu can be found in the guide, just scroll along the Marketplace blade on the far left.
- BloodShed, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2Pipboy?
It's Vault Boy god damn it!
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Vault_Boy - Elranzer, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2Good.
- vonbroner, on 11/26/2008, -2/+4Roommate and I made avatars, and just moved on. Honestly, with the 360 there's no market for this stuff, we just want our Left 4 Dead demos and online CoD.
- viacombusta, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2Michael Jackson is dead on. I have to go try this now.
- RockNRollBeaver, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2Mirror please? My work blocked the category of games :(
- h3lx, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2Thanks Slick.
- juryben, on 11/26/2008, -0/+2Ron Burgundy?
- PedleZelnip, on 11/27/2008, -0/+1Agreed entirely, the avatars feel much more limited than the mii's on the Wii.
To answer your question though "why can't I increase/decrase the size of things like ears, etc..", it's because if you had more variety with the base items, then you'll be less likely to start purchasing the new outfits/clothes/etc once the avatar store opens up. - beahmad, on 11/27/2008, -0/+1they get paid on a per-click basis, not per-view.
- beahmad, on 11/27/2008, -0/+1there's nothing different besides cosmetics. i'm with lonewolf, quit yer bitching
- Elranzer, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1Actually, you're forced to use it. You're forced to make an Avatar when you make a profile on the 360. The pop-up "blades" interface is no substitute for the original firmware.
- gamben0, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1I'm determined to make a Kim Jong Il
- nixpix66, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1yea, tahts actually pretty good, Everything but the mouth
- staticneuron, on 11/26/2008, -2/+3Home is definitely not an attempt to copy Mii's. Mii's and the NXE avatars are not only used for simple representation of yourself but it is they are made to work in game. Home avatars are different in which they are meant to represent you in home and you may have in game items affect your character but your avatar isn't meant to travel outside of home.
As it stands, there are two with similar design ethos in mind and the home is just carrying out what they tried to do during the PS2 era.......... and failed horribly. I am sure the more progressive members of sony were drowned out by the old hats. - kidsix, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1Surprised Gordon Freeman isn't in there.
- rblancarte, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1At least I am not the only one that thinks this.
Heck, even with the Wii, I got tired of my Mii, I just don't see how this changes with the Avatar. Computer dress up if you ask me. - inactive, on 11/26/2008, -1/+2Probably because 90% of the miis out there are either Adolph Hitler or Darth Vader... i can see why MS locked it down.
- J1X1, on 11/27/2008, -0/+1Because this was so funny when they did it with Miis.
- JohnChapin, on 11/28/2008, -0/+1I made an Oompa Loompa.
