- thomas11126, on 10/11/2007, -4/+243The Xbox 360 transformer shot red rings i believe
- Sechy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+121I wouldn't worry about a 360 robot attacking me, it would probably just over-heat.
- KnockoutNerd, on 10/11/2007, -5/+91The Mountain Dew transformer was better.
- somunny, on 10/11/2007, -5/+84I was wondering why I ran to Best Buy after the movie and bought a 360. Go figure...
- karlahr, on 10/11/2007, -5/+78When I saw both of those, I shook my head at the advertising they manage to do in movies. How long was the shot? About 2 second, but I still saw the white box.
Freakin' awesome movie too! - dotorg, on 10/11/2007, -7/+75When it flew by on the screen I turned to my girlfriend and said "poor guy probably doesn't even know its not the last time he's going to have to get it replaced...".
(And those who want to digg me down, I'm on my 4th 360, so bite me. It was funny.) - VermiciousKnid, on 10/11/2007, -16/+72how is this awesome? it's everything that's wrong about he movie industry.
- The1337Dude, on 10/11/2007, -4/+51The Mountain Dew Transformer shot cans I believe.
- SuperCujo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+46No wonder the Decepticons got beaten, 1 in 3 need replacement under warranty.
Then you have to wait 6 weeks for the backup to arrive. - bruinexmo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+37The product placements I caught:
Mountain Dew (In the storage of Air Force One and the transformed Mountain Dew machine)
Ding Dongs (Red-socked president asks for one on the plane)
XM satellite radio (Comes over Bumblebee's speakers after defeating Barricade in the junkyard)
Nokia (Phone gets zapped by radiation from the All Spark)
GM (duh)
Xbox 360 (Zapped by the All Spark in the street) - ayeroxor, on 10/11/2007, -1/+34"I saw this article wanna find the video must be on youtube the title says it all right! "
Just for that, now I want you to make a sentence tree of this ***** of words. - terminalpariah, on 10/11/2007, -2/+34Glad the article caught the bootup sound. Thought that was really cool, even if it was a shameless plug. Hey, Die Hard had Gears of War in it!
- thomasprebble, on 10/11/2007, -6/+37Is this what we're down to now on Digg? Talking about how "cool" a particular product's placement is?
- Bossman1086, on 10/11/2007, -2/+27I really cant believe people missed this. Sure, it was only on screen for a little while, but come on...wasn't that hard to miss...though, I didn't hear the start up sound...
- Hindu_Wardrobe, on 10/11/2007, -3/+27Blasphemy!! You have no girlfriend! This is digg!
- strictnein, on 10/11/2007, -0/+24Ok, to answer my own question (and to reply one too many times to this thread):
******************SPOILER*************************
******************SPOILER*************************
From engadget:
"The AllSpark only makes evil Transformers out of the human devices because the technology used to create those devices was reverse-engineered from Megatron."
******************SPOILER*************************
******************SPOILER************************* - Kronos6948, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22Let's add to that the Panasonic 2Gb flash card(Aussie woman dl'd the TF noise onto it to bring to her hacker friend). I hate when they have a close up for 2 seconds while the person holds it as if it's on The Price Is Right.
- strictnein, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23Michael Bay movies are always filled with ridiculous amounts of product placements.
- EochaidRiata, on 10/11/2007, -6/+26Would you be happier if the Hasbro™ Transformers™ movie used a "Gamebox 2000" instead?
- joshua5, on 10/11/2007, -4/+23dorks
- strictnein, on 10/11/2007, -1/+19Not quite there pal.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Autobots
You clearly:
A. Haven't seen the movie, or if you did, missed the whole part where they explain the name
B. Are too young to remember the TV show - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+21Why is everybody getting their panties in such a wad about a movie containing actual real-life items people can relate to?
"Oh hey look, there is an everyday electronic item turning into a rabid killing machine, sweet!"
You guys make it sound like they are slamming it in our face throughout the movie. Can't you just enjoy something for what it's worth? And for what it's worth, this movie was about giant ***** robots kicking ass, and it delivered. Go cry more somewhere else. - Ianki, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19But i mean, when the movie's second credit is Hasbro toys, it's fair to say that this movie is unapologetically a toy commercial. But, isn't that why we love it? I mean, deep down, isn't that what we expect, even crave?
- loki440, on 10/11/2007, -5/+22I ran to Best Buy too. . .I was hoping to see a 360 transform into a gaming console that works on a consistent basis.
- residentskitz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15um, you guys are forgetting about ebay...it was integral to the storyline.
- SenorCardgage74, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18I dont normally give a crap about product placement, but Jesus Christ, that scene ONLY existed for product placement purposes.
Someone needs to find all the peeps in this thread that think that scene was cool and crosscheck it against a list of diggers that whine about iPhone buyers being brainless suckers for marketing. Id bet there would be a ton of overlap. - strictnein, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16That's what I was wondering too. Why did that cube only make evil robots? That Nokia phone went all crazy too and wanted to just kill kill kill.
- darkmist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14I believe it is due to the fact that all "advanced technologies" came from studying Megatron. Thus, all human technology is evil and will turn into a decepticon if infused with the Sparks energy. (damn i am a nerd)
- Klowner, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Mine transformed into a brick!
- stephenwq, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11You missed
HP - Near the beginning all the computers being used are HP, including the one for video conference. - dysonlu, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9LAMEST DIGG EVER.
- battlefield1985, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Yes, Thanks for clarifying...
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8HP - pretty much any computer screen laptop.
nokia - S7 agent had his nokia phone on speaker phone
the strokes - band t-shirt that sam wore
Also noticed a lot of the cars that were wrecked were bmw
anything else?
(and on topic, thought the 360 placement was retarded - even my friends who i went and saw the movie with were making this SAME joke as this comic strip:
http://bp3.blogger.com/_5hEx6iRnaNk/Ro6-44hAy4I/AAAAAAAAADs/o_uLEm8oXzA/s1600-h/NK7-06-07.jpg - CanceledCzech, on 10/11/2007, -5/+13Digg? This is SPARTAA!!!!
- Rell812, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10And as we speak the Mountain Dew and Xbox robots rampage unchecked across the country.
I smell a spin-off. - mooboy322, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11nerds.....
- MoDinero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Also a Dewalt Reciprocating Saw & Mac Monitors as well. Don't forget his Strokes t-shirt too.
- chris9902, on 10/11/2007, -7/+13digg was good until it sold out. now it's just "LOOK! amazing picture [PIC]"
- silvercatmon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Now, what's the chance of someone actually getting their hands on a Wii? Someone causally walking around with a 360 is much more realistic. ;)
- Ryokurin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6And Cisco IP phones and Video Conference cameras.
- X9001, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10The scene was put in purely for product placement. Otherwise it probably would not have been put in at all, so to answer you question...yes
- nectom, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6lets not forget dinobots, and skyfire.....*****'n noob
- Ajajadude, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Yeah, it killed me to see Jazz as a Pontiac...
- MrSunshine, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6How does an illiterate person manage to post a Digg story?
- sjbdallas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Dude, if my kid was hiding that hot piece in his room, i'd worship the ground he walks on.
- swiftekho, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6They should have had a Wii turn into an Autobot...
- Zm3r3, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7How has digg sold out?
Surely you mean digg's users have sold out. I really hate it when people complain about the quality of stories on digg, it's user submitted which means you should launch into a tirade at whoever submitted it to digg, not digg itself. - AshsToAshs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRoPaLF_eHM
vid of that mountain dew scene
-Ash- - inactive, on 02/25/2009, -2/+7and i logged in to bury you for burying InstantRamen
- TomRemixed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Reminded me of the Mountain Dew robot that Jamie, from Mythbusters, made. It was used in one of the old Mountain Dew commercials.
EDIT: Here it is and it is actually a 7-Up robot. http://www.m5industries.com/ -
