- bionicvskungfu, on 11/19/2008, -1/+86"The 8-people party system lets you basically chat with all your friends no matter where you are in any game, and then be able to drag each one through games with you."
2 person private chat just isn't enough. - inactive, on 11/18/2008, -3/+86Looks like a good upgrade imo.
- Sh0rtstak, on 11/19/2008, -1/+40pretty excited for this. I just hope there wont be too much downtime in the next few days
- Sornos, on 11/19/2008, -1/+36It's about time. It was a total pain in the ass jumping between privates chats to organize stuff. I felt like a secretary, always putting people on hold.
- Khast, on 11/19/2008, -4/+33IMHO if you pay for a service, it should not have ads....period.
Just imagine if they decided to do that put things on the desktop of the Windows operating system, how many of you would be pissed about that? - ArcadeJunkies, on 11/19/2008, -3/+29Soooo, what TIME does it actually go live?
- LastDitchHero, on 11/19/2008, -1/+258 person chat, about time, now I don't have to listen to 10 yr old kids whose parents think Mountain Dew and Xbox 360 should be a babysitter.

- abajaj2280, on 11/19/2008, -1/+23Holy *****, i've played CTRL ZEE.
I cant wait for the update, but at the same time, i really love the current dashboard... I'm happy as long as everything can be found with ease and my avatar doesn't come out like an ugly Wii character. - kinseyincanada, on 11/19/2008, -1/+23the only lame thing is now i want to get a 120GB hard drive so i can install all my games.
- Nick22, on 11/19/2008, -2/+20pretty much anywhere. its a simple matter to hook up your PC to your TV
- badogg, on 11/19/2008, -2/+19I love the idea of a new interface and I think a lot of the features are going to be good for the console as a whole. The one thing that I am not too thrilled about is the advertisements. If I read the article correctly, there is going to be more ads? Or maybe the placement of them is going to be more strategically placed so you mistakenly select them and they hope you will get interested after the mistaken select of it? Regardless the advertisements in anything that I pay for is really irritating. I can see putting ads in the silver accounts that are the free live accounts which are pretty much useless anyways, but I feel that if I am paying for something then that should allow me to use the services without all the ads being shoved down my throat. Same goes when I go to the movies. It really pisses me off that right before the previews I have to sit and watch the damn coca-cola ads or the car ads and all that crap. I can't wait for them to put a DVR at the movies so I can skip that ***** there too.
Alright, I kind of went on a rant there. All in all I am looking forward to the new update. - thegamingguy, on 11/19/2008, -1/+17It is a for sure upgrade. I have enjoyed it so far, can't wait to get my friends in the party system too. Not having the blades get in the way anymore is the biggest upgrade. So many times I would be slow at the start of a multiplayer game because I would be sending a message in between and get stuck in that menu system. Plus I like that they can update more often rather than just spring/fall massive updates.
I just submitted the intro video too if anyone cares to see it.
http://digg.com/xbox/New_Xbox_Experience_Intro_Vid ... - CalcProgrammer1, on 11/19/2008, -3/+19dugg for fitting easily on my 1680x1050 display
- skankme, on 11/19/2008, -2/+17Eh - I pay for magazines... they have ads. I pay for cable, the channels still have ads.
- snoogit, on 11/19/2008, -2/+14xxMarka: in your mouth?
- EvilCan, on 11/19/2008, -1/+13Only if you can figure out how to set it up, which seems like it might be a challenge for you.
- Shaflugi, on 11/19/2008, -2/+13Because the 360 is a piece of junk that was rushed to market?
I love my 360, but that doesn't mean the hardware isn't a hunk of junk ;) - Jakerzon, on 11/19/2008, -2/+12They had better get this so I can put it on a CD.
- Sornos, on 11/19/2008, -1/+10Unless I'm mistaken you can just hook up a the internet via the ethernet port in the back and download it without having Gold Live. It's free for all members if you have a broadband connection hooked up. That shouldn't be too hard to set up.
- byronm, on 11/19/2008, -2/+10Not to mention new games released after update will also update your console.
- s3rgi0, on 11/19/2008, -0/+8Bloatware?
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -5/+13I'll stick with my 2600, 30 years and no RROD.
- Phillycat81, on 11/19/2008, -1/+9I got mine last night.
Game installs kick ass. No more loud ass dvd drive. - Seann7656, on 11/19/2008, -2/+10You must be one of those weirdos that hates anything new
- kylef, on 11/19/2008, -1/+8But you still need the DVD in. Might shave off a few seconds of load time, but I dont know if its really worth the time and money to upgrade. Then again, my DVD drive is one loud ass *****...
- SweetUsername, on 11/19/2008, -0/+6I'm pretty sure you do
- Einchy, on 11/19/2008, -1/+7Been using it since last week. It's so awesome. :D
- erzz, on 11/19/2008, -1/+6Yah because everyone knows that Nintendo invented the electronic avatar
/sarcasm
/rolling of eyes - MentalBeaver, on 11/19/2008, -1/+6Isn't it 1024x768 (not 786) anyway? Just saying.
- misterjangles, on 11/19/2008, -1/+6Just got my 4th replacement back due to ring 'o death. it seems like it's just an annual thing to ship the thing back. at least they have the replacement program down so you don't even have to call them anymore.
- reddevild, on 11/19/2008, -1/+610 am GMT
if you look at the link down below that scoottie posted :P - xxMarka, on 11/19/2008, -2/+7They use ads to keep themselves going though, Microsoft does not need ads to keep Xbox Live Gold going.
At ALL.
The subscriptions pay for more than enough, I'd imagine. - igraham09, on 11/19/2008, -4/+9dugg down for bitching when you're using a 5-year-old resolution standard.
- eaglejim2003, on 11/19/2008, -2/+7Walmart
- trdrstv, on 11/19/2008, -0/+5Yes.
- CrimsonBlur, on 11/19/2008, -1/+6Yeah, I'm not worried much about the load times. The reason I love the install idea is that the DVD drive is freaking loud on the 360, to the point of distraction unless I have the volume way up.
Why was Sony able to make the PS3 almost completely silent and have the power brick in the system but the 360 with a separate power supply sounds like my computer tower at start-up ALL THE TIME. - Unrealevil, on 11/19/2008, -2/+7And on top of that, the whole thing is probably not optional *because* of the ads.
- illustrick, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4everyone copies everyone, so stop bitching damn......
- lotrtrotk, on 11/19/2008, -1/+5But you pay your cable company for your TV service.
You don't pay the network, who are the ones who run the ads.
Most of the money made by a TV network is from ads.
without them they would charge the cable companies through the roof
which in turn means the cable company charges YOU through the roof.
Would you want to pay $1500/month for ad-free cable?
Xbox Live is different, because (I would guess) it could sustain itself purely with the subscriptions. - bsonline, on 11/19/2008, -2/+612. You have to go forward. Or stay offline.
- Cloned, on 11/19/2008, -5/+9Goddammit. I just got the RROD over the weekend.
- pradaaddict, on 11/19/2008, -1/+52am PST
- Shaderone, on 11/19/2008, -2/+6Not to mention that a downloadable copy that can be either put on a CD or a flash drive will likely be available on the xbox.com website.
- barkingfrog, on 11/19/2008, -1/+5Do you have to have a gold membership to stream netflix?
- Macintoshreader, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4It has ads? ***** THAT!
- bnitro, on 11/19/2008, -2/+6The new stuff is great but the Netflix Streaming is, really, all I care about Yataaa!
- FreydNot, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4Have they added 5.1 AAC support for H.264 files yet? I stinks being stuck with Xvid if you want to stream 5.1 audio.
- djpray2k, on 11/19/2008, -1/+5Zing!
- MrFisty, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4It's also kinda a Columbia Pictures licensing issue...
