I feel as much duped as any American and i sincerely feel for your nation, and that you might finally one day rid yourself of this inept administration. Bush isn't a particularly good Republican. He's grown government with huge increases in spending. His tax cuts have been mostly just token cuts to give people momentary gratification. His raising of gay, abortion, etc issues are things that are probably just fine to leave to states to decide on.
Some people look at politics a bit too much like a sport. They feel like team loyalty is important. Politics aren't like that though. Politicians can have more than two sets of views. All republicans aren't bible thumping homophobes who hates middle easterners and democrats aren't all hippy communists.

While he was not directly responsible for it, he would have used his position to motivate people. Getting them all together in a meeting and not letting them out until they finally worked out the details. Getting them to sit down and compromise, hash out a plan, and get moving forward. And kept it all public. None of this closed door corporate meeting BS. Someone willing to get the ball rolling.

I walked around the whole scene as well as around the buildings on the opposite side of the highway taking it all in, imagining how people in those same spots perceived what was happening while I was at home watching it unfold on TV.
Its quiet upsetting that Bush did not use his 15 minute speech on Monday to reunite us under the banner of rebuilding the site and giving us hope but instead to shove more political rhetoric down our throats. He should have called up the Port Authority, Congress, New York, Michael Bloomberg and everyone else involved in the reconstruction of the WTC site to rebuild and rebuild now.

Yeah. so much money spent to help the troops. That must have been why there were all those news stories about how they had to build their own armor because they weren't being given enough from the US. In the case of this particular story, the Digg post is essentially "Keith Olberman said this..". That is not inaccurate. How, in the light of that film, anyone can continue to support the killing of young American men and women in Iraq in a war to further the financial aims of the Bush family and their cronies, I will never know.
