- basilbub, on 11/05/2007, -57/+645I really hope this is inaccurate but I fear that it is true.
America is in serious need of a revolution.
(and yes, I'm saying that as an american citizen.) - jollyholly, on 10/10/2007, -14/+257"I have a friend who is an LSO on a carrier attack group that is planning and staging a strike group deployment into the Gulf of Hormuz. (LSO: Landing Signal Officer- she directs carrier aircraft while landing) "
I don't think attacking Iran is the right thing to do but I do have to say something about this article and the author:
How many aircraft carriers do you think are in the Gulf of Hormuz, really? It won't be hard for Navy brass to make a list of all the female Landing Signal Officers that happen to be onboard aircraft carriers in that part of the world. So the author had better keep his fingers crossed, because he might have just gotten his female friend a lifetime in prison. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -23/+229Yes, America is in serious need of a revolution. It's long overdue. I'm in.
- catalysis, on 10/10/2007, -22/+202Inaccurate. Landing signal officers are not told sensitive mission information. They just land planes.
- Battleloser, on 10/10/2007, -4/+107I'd much prefer to water it with the blood of corrupt politicians.
- Hawanja, on 10/10/2007, -18/+118Stop them, dammit!
- rhabd0mancer, on 10/10/2007, -3/+99Bush is in office until Jan 2009.
- littlebylittle, on 10/10/2007, -27/+122Cheney and his Puppet, Bush, don't give a *****. Isn't that obvious by now. They'll do whatever the hell they want. And we won't be able to stop it.
- doublethrow, on 10/10/2007, -7/+87Loose lips sink ships.
- sully213, on 10/10/2007, -1/+76"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."
By Thomas Jefferson - dallascorbin504, on 10/10/2007, -19/+88The American people will not support another war front. There is no way they will attack. I'm sure the Bush administration is drooling at the chance, but they know that the rest of the world will not back them up.
- PresidentSoup, on 10/10/2007, -6/+73Your words are falling on deaf ears here at digg. The only revolution diggers will participate in would be the ones that they can do so from their computer chairs.
- kidjay, on 10/10/2007, -16/+82i have a friend of a friend who said this one thing that was totally truth.
wtf markos. try to be credible. - revanrules, on 10/10/2007, -8/+72how does that saying go? the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of patriots
- pakiman47, on 10/10/2007, -4/+64Revolutions only occur when people are hurting. Right now,and unfortunately for probably many years to come, the average American has enough to eat and live relatively comfortably. So I don't see any hope at all in the near futre for any sort of change in American foreign or domestic policy. The American populace has been carefully and purposely lulled into a haze.
- constantskeptic, on 10/10/2007, -15/+71i have a friend who says the world is flat....
- toast1226, on 10/10/2007, -6/+60I talked to my dad about this (who was in the military for 20 years) and he suggests that the military does this as a pre-cautionary measure -- not that they are actually going to attack Iran, but to practice different scenarios in case there is justification to attacking Iran, that way they are prepared if the time comes. I think this explanation is a lot more viable then us actually attacking Iran.
- littlebylittle, on 10/10/2007, -10/+60"... because he might have just gotten his female friend a lifetime in prison."
This is how they work. - tech42er, on 10/10/2007, -2/+42If most Americans actually cared, the mainstream presidential candidates wouldn't have so much support. While there is a good deal of people who o care, we're way in the minority. If you start a revolution, you will not have popular support. So what can be done?
- gquaglia, on 10/10/2007, -15/+55I call *****. No naval Officer would risk her career over leaking info like this.
- JulioChavez, on 10/10/2007, -3/+42The only problem with saying on Digg that you're in on being part of a revolution is that you can be labeled a terrorist and taken away with no evidence, no trial. The only way a revolution will happen is through secret societies. Protesting in the streets won't work anymore. ( terrorist - no trial ) Voting won't work anymore. ( if there will even be any more elections ) I think the most likely reason for all the unconstitutional 'laws' being passed lately is to prevent secret communications among Americans. Yes, it is to combat terrorism but if you want to overthrow the federal govt.. guess what?
- Chewie67, on 10/10/2007, -15/+53Don't worry. "I have a friend who is..." is code for "Here's a crazy conspiracy theory I'm pulling out of my ass"
- vermin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+39I'd bet a lot of money that "she" is actually a man.
- Gndoab, on 10/10/2007, -8/+44Yeah...this has less credibility as a news source then the UK's Page 3.
I have a friend in Iraq who says that because the army is so sick of all the problems they are facing, they are just going to nuke the place. Seriously, he told me exactly that, and he is there so that means he has access to said information. and its real! I promise. - j0keR, on 10/10/2007, -4/+36The original American Revolution didn't have popular support to begin with either. It has to start somewhere.
- Beatmiser, on 10/10/2007, -6/+35This is the worst form of reporting. Reporting based on unverifiable hearsay. Get someone on the record who isn't just an amorphous 'friend' and I might have a bit more faith in the story. Otherwise it's fear mongering and just as bad as the Republicans.
- Rukaribe, on 10/10/2007, -12/+39This Sept. 11 there will be a general strike. Do not go to work, do not go to school, do not go shopping. If protests are happening go join them.
- kidjay, on 10/10/2007, -7/+34also, marines aren't soldiers. they are marines.
- Yez70, on 10/10/2007, -9/+35Bush has the power to cancel elections now....
- madm0nk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+26Uh ... the American Revolution started because of taxes.
- Aggaman, on 10/10/2007, -2/+28How about beer instead of blood.
If you guys actually protest en masse and force Chimpy ***** to resign, I'll personally buy the first five Americans I meet a beer.
Every foreigner should take this pledge. - vertinox, on 10/10/2007, -6/+32The German Genocide was classified information. Are you saying any concentration camp guard who were to come forward (at the expense of his life) and break the news to world of this program was doing the wrong thing? Of course everyone he knew and his family would have been tortured and killed but when your government is doing the wrong thing, then in the end maybe it is right to speak out even if it is classified.
Obviously this person has no knowledge of an order or a plan to attack Iran. They simply have seen a massive build up and preparation for targets.
I don't like Iran and their close minded government more than most people (in fact I detest Sharia above all things) but the US cannot go to war with them like this. It would be declaring war on a sovereign nation without congressional backing and our forces cannot withstand a full out war with Iran at the present moment.
We could smash their conventional army into the ground, but imagine all the guerrilla fighters that will stream into Iraq and the chaos that will ensue.
Secondly, the price of oil will shoot through the roof and the Chinese economy will lurch to a halt because we just cut off 13% of their foreign oil. That will cause a run on the dollar after they can't afford to buy our debt anymore. (Not to mention they might openly back Iran with weapons and military support)
So no... She is doing the right thing because if it is planned to happen it needs to stop. Attacking Iran is not shooting our foot but putting a gun in our mouth and pulling the trigger. We can beat them militarily but the economics part of this issue is going to kill us. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+28If he posted it on his blog it's probably true
- monospaced, on 10/10/2007, -6/+30With his track record, Bush doesn't seem to require justification. That's what we're so scared about.
- UtahApocalyse, on 10/10/2007, -6/+29Bush & Co. geive a rats ass what congress wants or says
- planksconstant, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23i'm not defending it, but there are different laws when it comes to the military. it was illegal for her to reveal this plan to her friend. that is why she would be arrested.
- DogHumpsMonkey, on 10/10/2007, -4/+26I wasn't aware that one could just transfer from the Corps to the Navy. I also never new that the Corps had their own carriers. I also never knew you could land an F/A-18 on a LHA. This article is *****, whether it comes from the mind of the author or his "friend" is feeding him *****. I suspect the former.
- Hawkeye1959, on 10/10/2007, -3/+24Having served 20 years in naval aviation i must say that the story about " there was an opening for a junior grade LSO in a training position on a supercarrier" stinks right off the bat. LSO's are officers generally experienced LT's from the assigned squadrons onboard a given carrier, not billets that become open and filled by just anyone that feels they are qualified from anywhere in the fleet.
- rarson, on 10/10/2007, -3/+21Buy guns while you still can, we're going to need them.
- supermanred, on 10/10/2007, -7/+25Yeah, so nobody should oppose the Government out of fear of jail. ***** the jail terms, tell the US government to get the ***** out of the rest of the world. They aren't welcome anymore.
- Pilot85, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18for occupation? Not without a draft, no.
- nodonoug, on 10/10/2007, -7/+25You're making a very large assumption...that W employs rational thought.
- patrickloggins, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17I completely agree. While a revolution would be great, it can't happen because we're being entertained and made happy. Until healthcare, gas prices, and even food becomes unusable due to prices and more people are pushed into poverty, nothing is going to happen. It's much easier to hurt a nation in the 1700s than it is now.
- supermanred, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20Yes, please stop them . One more illegal brutal war and the world will ultra hate you all. Right now we mostly hate the government of the US, one more war like Iraq and we'll hate every single one of you.
And Im saying this as a Canadian with half his family who are US citizens. Even they agree, Bush is an ***** and so is everyone around him. - sohosid, on 10/10/2007, -4/+20Yeah? And then what?
Iraq is costing America billions, and hundreds of lives. How is invading Iran going to help anything? Global tensions, already wearing thin, will get worse. Global attitude toward the US will erupt in anger. Is that *really* what chest-thumping Dubya fans want? If so, why? Are you really that insular and stupid? - UtahApocalyse, on 10/10/2007, -14/+29She may have given her life for OUR country. Not for the Neo-Con Regime in Washington.
- deff, on 10/10/2007, -10/+25So, was this passed by congress and wasn't mentioned? Curious if I missed anything...
- evi1, on 10/10/2007, -5/+20Okay guys listen up, our military constantly stages tests and exercises to be prepared for any situation that could arise. Also LSO officers are never told why but how and what to do. So if this is even accurate all it tells us is the US is ready for a war with Iran if it comes to that. We have attack plans for the majority of the hostile countries in the world so this is nothing new.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19ALL of our lives, INCLUDING YOURS, will be worse off if we attack Iran.
