- kemp34, on 07/24/2008, -0/+24Remember about two months ago, the Pope said it was OK for Catholics to believe in aliens?
- cococooky, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5It seems to me the powers that be are preparing for a disclosure.
- BECoole, on 07/25/2008, -2/+2Two months ago? The Vatican has acknowledged that God may have created other spiritual beings and even extraterrestrials a long time before that.
You must be quite youthful.- cococooky, on 07/25/2008, -1/+3Not knowing everything about the Catholic Church does not make one youthful. I had not heard anything about the Vatican believing in extraterrestrials until it was all over the news about 2 months ago.
I also find it hard to believe the Vatican had acknowledged it before - The same church that changed the word "worlds" to "world" at the beginning of the bible.. - BECoole, on 07/25/2008, -1/+3Well, Pope JP II did comment on it. But that is beside the point. They haven't commented on if Kennedy was killed by the CIA or Mobsters either. What does that mean?
There is nothing in the Bible that discounts the possibility of extraterrestrials.
Why would The Church have ever commented on it before modern times? In the old days, UFOs would have been attributed to Angels or Demons. The thought that they might be beings similar to us from another planet wouldn't have even been in the vocabulary.
I read posts like yours as pointless Church bashing. Was that not your aim? - cococooky, on 07/26/2008, -1/+1Hey, hang on a minute there bucko.
Bashing the church is never pointless, in fact I think you are doing god's work when you do. Having said that, all I did was point out the facts.
Now you can cast as many judgments on other people as you like, but since you're the only one doing any bashing in this thread, it makes your last sentence a bit hypocritical.
- cococooky, on 07/25/2008, -1/+3Not knowing everything about the Catholic Church does not make one youthful. I had not heard anything about the Vatican believing in extraterrestrials until it was all over the news about 2 months ago.
- toomanymirrors, on 07/24/2008, -3/+30I just find it exceedingly difficult to believe, not that aliens exist, but that our government was competent enough to hide anything for that long.
- ChesapeakeBaybe, on 07/24/2008, -1/+16He's not alone:
Poll: U.S. hiding knowledge of aliens:
http://www.cnn.com/US/9706/15/ufo.poll/- SQLDigger, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6Ah, `97. Hey-day of the X-Files . . . Are there any more recent polls?
- SQLDigger, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6Ah, `97. Hey-day of the X-Files . . . Are there any more recent polls?
- spellingwitch, on 07/24/2008, -1/+11If the little grey men are really probing us I'm going to be very upset.
- 8thAAFWW2, on 07/24/2008, -6/+10I believe it only a disinformation campaign by the US (& other countries) to hide black -ops secret technological development on experimental weapons systems. (I.E. The Air Forces Aurora Project among others).
- zombies187, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8Could be...but couldn't it be both? Those two things aren't mutally exclusive.
- shopfemina, on 07/24/2008, -11/+5The Government hid the fact of illegal aliens for 20 years.
- deleo, on 07/24/2008, -1/+15This story is insane. Why is this not headline news on all of the news networks? This is a U.S. astronaut who spent many years at NASA saying this. He needs to keep talking and sharing what he knows!
- drachemorder, on 07/24/2008, -1/+10Because he's been known to have fringe opinions about the paranormal for many years --- he even did ESP experiments from orbit.
- windmarble, on 07/24/2008, -2/+9This submission would be more effective if the title wasn't so vague.
- Rotzooi, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3...but are they spectacular?!
- Wolf73b, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Not really, but they are FAB-U-LOUS!!!
- KJeffV, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3"Fabulous" used in the literal sense: unbelievable.
- Wolf73b, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Not really, but they are FAB-U-LOUS!!!
- crxvfr, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5For those that think its secret technology being tested by whoever, ...maybe, but sightings of ufo's started WAY WAY before anybody could fly in anything.
- drachemorder, on 07/24/2008, -9/+6OF COURSE aliens are real. I saw a couple of them working on my neighbor's roof the other.... oh, wait, you meant ALIEN aliens, not ILLEGAL aliens. Never mind.
- Mom2GIQM, on 07/25/2008, -2/+5Me too! And it was my roof. They dropped a tool in the backyard and I went out front where they were having lunch to return it to them. They were all too scared to say anything to me...like I didn't know they couldn't speak English.
- sphira, on 07/24/2008, -1/+7Agreed -
The title is very vague -
it should be something like --
FORMER NASA astronaut and moon-walker Dr Edgar Mitchell .. stunningly claimed aliens exist
"Chillingly, he claimed our technology is "not nearly as sophisticated" as theirs and "had they been hostile", he warned "we would be been gone by now"
Though I remember his walk on the moon, I'm not aware of him. I find it astonishing a man of his stature and accomplishment would make this claim so directly. - wuxia, on 07/25/2008, -4/+3Whatever you do, dont let an alien put you in a sleeper hold or your butt will really hurt when you wake up.
- mikesbaker, on 07/25/2008, -10/+2I said it last time this was on digg and I will say it again.
TIN FOIL HATS FOR SALE!! GET YOUR TIN FOIL HATS!!! RIGHT HERE! TIN FOIL HATS FOR SALE!!!
also aren't people who are prone to believe this kind of stupidity prone to believe that we never landed on the moon?- MarkCiccone, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Yeah I'm going to believe you, a kid on the internet, as opposed to a highly respected scientist and ASTRONAUT who actually has knowledge on this subject. Maybe that's why the aliens don't want to visit, too many idiots around.
- 8thAAFWW2, on 07/25/2008, -1/+2Remember Timothy Leary, He was also a scientist but he still blew his mind out with acid., But wait he did go to space , Opps sory only his ashes did

- Mom2GIQM, on 07/25/2008, -4/+3He's 77. Can you say "Dementia" ? - My dad is close to his age and the things their generation will believe. If it's on the internet or received via email it must be true. He may "believe" he has been privy to some intelligence info or a gov't conspiracy, but his age voids any credibility he may have had earlier in life. Not saying all older people can't be trusted, but his age is a factor.
- johnny2k, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4So, in other words, what you are saying is that about the time when John McCain gets done with his first term, he'll be some old fart with no credibility and dimentia?
- drachemorder, on 07/25/2008, -3/+1This guy has a history of believing crackpot theories about UFOs and the paranormal. Senility might just exacerbate the wackiness he's already been involved with.
- swizzcheez, on 07/25/2008, -5/+3From the title: "They Really Are Real!!!"
Total fail. The title should read "He Really Is Looney!!!"
Or more likely, "This Story Is *****!!!" - Jettparmer, on 07/25/2008, -4/+3I think - with all due respect to Dr. Mitchell - that he is out of his tree. The ability of the government to cover up something this monumental is absurd. I challenge him to provide one set of names, locations, project titles or dates in which he received these briefings.
- Idiggapony, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5Dr. Mitchell has his own website: www.edmitchellapollo14.com . It has lots of great stuff like his biography, and a page where you can buy autographed photos of him in his astronaut suit. But I particularly recommend this page: http://www.edmitchellapollo14.com/articles.htm . It has links to some of Dr. Mitchell's writings on the subject of consciousness and the quantum hologram. Consider, for example, his definition of "Non-Locality (near & far)":
The omnipresent and omnidirectional transfer of influence (including thought, emotion, and intention) at the quantum level instantly, simultaneously and ubiquitously, through wave-like or field-like resonance wherein spatial and temporal factors are inconsequential.
You can also go directly to the Institute of Noetic Sciences page: http://www.noetic.org/ - shakingfist, on 07/25/2008, -3/+2We should hand over more rights to the government so they can protect us from the invaders.
- shakingfist, on 07/25/2008, -2/+1What a perfect, wonderfully distracting story. Whatever you do, don't think about this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6ZPGaGngJU&feature ... - Omnicron4735, on 07/25/2008, -3/+2I think that the government periodically will make announcements like this just to ascertain public opinion. Judging from these comments, I can clearly see that the populace is not ready for any form of disclosure whatsoever. Many of you have got your heads stuck so far into the sand that any change of any kind in your "reality" would probably throw you into the deepest paroxysms of a full psychological melt down.
It's interesting that people will gobble down the lies (about terrorists, red Communists, Nazis, Japanese, etc. etc.) that the government will give them, so long as it is in line with the prevailing beliefs of the time.
Humanity is not ready to wake up.
The average person is most likely addicted to being afraid. It's all they've ever known. So most people's first reaction to a story like this, on a very deep psychological, level is fear. This will manifest in two ways: fight or flight. The fight reflex manifests as an urge to ridicule, the flight reflex manifests in an urge to deny. Which one did you manifest?
I said “It’s possible.” - kaze85, on 07/25/2008, -1/+0Who wouldn't want an alien creature pet? ;)
- pleiadianagenda, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Of course they're real, anybody paying attention knows this. The govt coverup is about 60+ years old, and some whistleblowers claim that up to 50 or more alien species/civilizations have been cataloged. Go to google video and type in "exopolitics" or "x-con" or "ufo" and watch the hours upon hours of serious discussion in conferences and lectures with scientists and politicians on full disclosure and sequestered technologies.
- 8thAAFWW2, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1I respectfully Disagree -The Government couldn't keep even keep the Manhattan Atomic Bomb Project secret (one of the two highest classified projects of the war) Stalin knew about the Trinity test it through his agents at Los Alamos within 72 hours. So how can a secret which would have to involve thousands of people or more be kept quiet over 60 + years be successful?
The Air Force, & NSA have admitted (Although Grudgingly) using the UFO Story to cover up: Saucer /Flying Wing technology recovered from the Nazi's after WW2 in the late 1940's & 1950's, (Von Braum stated this among others), The U-2 & Blackbird Projects in the early 1960's, The B-2 in the 1970's/1980's. The Government is testing weapons technology right now that's 30 years more advanced than what they are admitting to (I.E. Aurora Etc) These are purely of Terrestrial origin.
Even these highly classified projects in their time were compromised
(Latest example is Aviation Magazine giving some details on the Aurora Project-Even through denied by the Air Force). To keep alien visitation a secret would involve the government's of the whole world which would be nearly impossible.

- homerj1965, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5Why isn't this front page everywhere?
- MarkCiccone, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Several other famous astronauts have made similar comments, even saying they saw UFOs once they were out of the Earth's atmosphere. Incredible story, we have no reason not to believe him. There's no reason to panic, if they wanted to destroy us they would have already. I just wish we as a species had the option to decide for ourselves whether we are ready to make contact with extraterrestrials, and not a few people in our governments. I think this news has the possibility of uniting the human race, our problems with each other would seem a lot smaller and pettier when faced with beings from another part of the universe. I say the aliens meet with us, we're ready.
- 8thAAFWW2, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Those other Astronauts saw UFO's (UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS)
they did not say aliens or even alien craft. Most of what they saw were spent rockets or other space junk or electrically charged particals in orbit but couldnt be identified.
- 8thAAFWW2, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Those other Astronauts saw UFO's (UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS)
- 4chin8, on 07/25/2008, -3/+1I find it interesting that Christians and other Bible-toting folks would have a problem with this and consider this man suffering from a form of dementia as the only possible explanation. Did not the "angels" and other creatures from the "Heavenly Realm" have to exist somewhere other than here? Nephilim--ring any bells? Extra-terrestrial just mean they aren't from our piece of Earth. Does this guy know for sure that they exist? I'm not sure, but his world view IS bigger than mine.
- WriterSD, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Umm, I'm a Christian and I don't have a problem with the possibility of alien life.
- 4chin8, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Good! I just happen to see some comments on this from fellow professing compatriots that I felt were a little bit closed to the idea of "aliens" among us. Not really trying to ruffle anybody's feathers too much, but just sayin' that some topics aren't really taught in Sunday School and we have to be at least a little open-minded or risk being judgmental bigots.
- WriterSD, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Umm, I'm a Christian and I don't have a problem with the possibility of alien life.
- brothaslide, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3Let's say they are real - now what? I sure hope the aliens have an idea about how to deal with the forclosure mess.
- Farmer77, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4I for one, welcome our new alien overlords.
- shopfemina, on 07/27/2008, -0/+2Perhaps we are their food. The vegetarians out there would love that idea.
