Seriously, why is it when a Christian blows something up, he's a lone nut, but when a Muslim blows something up, suddenly he's a representative for his entire religion? Don't get me wrong, it's not that I'm a Muslim sympathizer or anything, I'm just not a big fan of any organized religion. I mean, you got Christians running around blowing up abortion clinics and gay bars, and you just don't see the same public outcry. No "Christianity is a religion of hate," no "Well if he really wasn't being a true Christian, then Christians should speak out more against it." That's just always bothered me - I mean, you can have people come out and say "Well, it was wrong for him to blow up the abortion clinic, but his heart was in the right place," or crap like that, and even then, you don't see any outrage over Christianity.

Where do the vocal Extremists Christians (for the most part) reside? They reside in the US, with its well structured laws and policies. So without fear for their lives, moderate Christians CAN denounce those Extremist Christians.
What would you have a moderate Muslim in Afghanistan or Iran do? Risk their very own lives to condemn Extremists??? The majority of Muslims in the world do NOT live in countries with developed (or democratic) legal and political systems and thus do not have the luxury of freedom of speech.
It is most unfair to compare the actions of moderate Muslims within a theological society, to that of moderate Christians in secular societies. If the US was a “Christian” nation and open defiance would cost you your life, would you be quite the vocal advocate?
And then there are the cases of moderate Muslims in Western countries who protest and denounce extremist Muslims, but the media pays no mind (it’s not quite as exciting as “lunatic Muslim kills several”).

Islam is fundamentally a more dangerous religion, its followers are usually much more devout than Christians are, and part of Islam's teachings is to lie to unbelievers about what they really think so unless you're good friends with these people you really don't know for sure what these people are thinking.
