- quakerorts, on 10/17/2007, -3/+111CIA drug plane crashes in Mexico. Shades of Iran Contra! The loose and antiquated aircraft registration system in the US appears to be kept that way to allow owners of planes to escape prosecution and hide true ownership. The CIA is well versed in playing the system.
- WiseWeasel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+84While we're on the subject, I'll throw out a link to this great interview with Beau Abbott, former pilot for the DEA, which should be required viewing for every US citizen:
http://youtube.com/results?search_query=US+Governm ...
This man ran cocaine and weapons throughout North, Central and South America for the CIA, and had his life ruined through the justice system when he started making waves. Just a picture of the well-entrenched criminal element in our own government. - OBKenobi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+78It took decades before the CIA finally admitted to MK Ultra, and dosing civilians with LSD in California. Amazing how it all passed by in the mainstream media without any fanfare. Sort of like "Oh, by the way, those conspiracy theories about MK Ultra were true. And now, today's Britney Spears Report."
As far as the South American connections, HW Bush was behind Iran-CONTRA, there is no doubt of this, and now that the Bush family is back in power, many of the same old narco-terror black ops are running once again. This time not just in South America, but in Afghanistan too. - SeethisPass, on 10/10/2007, -1/+77What does the CIA do that is good? I forget.
- obliviousfool, on 10/10/2007, -1/+65Interesting followup to the "Cocaine One" story. You really have to wonder how, in this day and age (oh, especially with the threat of "terrorism") plane registrations can be kept so vague and ambiguous.
- dukeeeey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+58Everyone knows the CIA smuggles drugs, they have been doing it for literally decades now, and have been caught in the past doing it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran-Contra_Affair#Dr ... - Zippo, on 10/17/2007, -0/+50Playing the system? They ARE the system.
- OBKenobi, on 10/10/2007, -1/+42The same way Bush was able to spy on all of America through AT&T without anyone noticing it. And he still hasn't revealed the extent of the operation, or what's happening right now.
- psyjoniz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+32smuggle drugs. they are good at that.
- 2reflective, on 10/10/2007, -1/+32There is also a great clip on YouTube of Mike Ruppert, a former LA narcotics officer, who confronts a CIA director with hard evidence.
I'm sure many in the CIA have no idea this is going on, but there is undoubtedly a criminal gang at the top who use the profits from importing drugs to fund their own black ops and pet projects. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+30There has been a growing perception expressed in the Mexican press that the owners of both of the American-registered drug plane’s seem to enjoy an apparent immunity from prosecution
- Herostratus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30They make drugs illegal to have more control over us, violate our constitutional rights in the name of the war against drugs, and its them that ship the drugs in to begin with, and then as if that werent enough, they use all this to justify their existance. Will somebody please scream with me here.
- noblepenguin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+27Probably because this is the only bona fide news actually worthy of showing up on the Digg front page in the last month (not that there's anything wrong with that).
- psyjoniz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25"I think we've got a government of criminals."

- Cornelius Tacitus - (55-117 A.D.) - digsig, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25There is no hard evidence. But, according to the article, that's because there have been so many transactions with the plane in just 2 weeks after the crash. Also, they have a good point in that this plane landed in Guantanamo. I don't know how they could do that without having permission from the US government/army.
- ottosgatos, on 10/10/2007, -1/+24Cocaine Import Agency
- lnf69, on 10/10/2007, -0/+21Yup, that's why there's a "war on drugs". If drugs were legal the CIA would have to find another way to finance all the operations that are not approved by the gov't.
- spawnfree, on 10/21/2007, -7/+28watch the documentary about the alleged US coup in Venezuela.
the first day of the coup saw any protest being violently quelled by police, something not seen under Chavez at all.
The US administration is a brutal dictatorship hiding behind a well maintained veil of lies.
I'm just glad that they did not succeed in Venezuela. There is more at work in this world than the will of evil.

THE CIA IS A MASSIVE DRUG CARTEL ..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we've known it for years and they're still doing it.
i think we can't fully wrap our minds around that . its virtually incomprehensible... the implications, the detriment to society.
the cia are the terrorists. - Nougat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17They do a lot more than smuggle drugs.
http://digg.com/world_news/A_Timeline_of_CIA_Atroc ... - Abomonog, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19What makes me laugh is how the coup ended. The U.S. military run out on a rail by farmers. PRICELESS!
Chavez is an awfully nice guy for a "ruthless dictator". It must be rough paying 17 cents per gallon for gas. I loved it when Chavez announced to the world that it really only costs about 16 cents per gallon to refine gasoline. And that free heating oil thing that he did for poor Americans the other year. Honestly, if Chavez is a dictator then we need to find more dictators like him. He's done a few dictator-like things (Don't rag on him or you might get fined), but not even American leaders have shown as much care as he does for his people. Dirt cheap gas from his own gas company (Citgo), free medical, guaranteed employment for anyone who will work. Gee, I wish some dictator would force those on me. - Cyberen, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19I'm sure the Iran-Contra scandal was crap too, according to you.

- 1337Einstein, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16Can be used very effectively as a number of distinct plot devices in works of fiction.
- petewiz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Well, they overthrow elected leaders in foreign countries (Iran, Guatemala, Chile, etc.) and replace them with cruel dictators (The Shah of Iran, Pinochet, etc.). They also fund and train "freedom fighters" (or terrorists, depending on who you ask) like the Contras and the Mujahideen (aka those militant Muslims that are really pissed at us). This might seem pretty bad, but hey, either you love freedom or you are with the terrorists.
- adooga, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Yep, if the drug cartel can land at Guantanamo, sure.
- offspring06, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14I thought everyone knew the CIA were involved in the drug trade. I heard about this years ago and I'm Canadian. Drugs are illegal because it drives the prices up which means more profit for the CIA. Is it a coincidence that Afghanistan produces more opium under NATO control than they did under the Taliban?

They didn't even bother replacing the phone numbers with real numbers! - lnf69, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14This ***** has been going on since (at least) the Reagan years. Instead of impeaching how about we just stop voting for them?
- Memitim, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14I don't think that Occam's Razor applies when dealing with groups that intentionally work toward subterfuge.
- freecon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13I really wonder about fox, cnn, abc, nbc . . .
- CaymanCarpediem, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15When they have been caught doing it in the past (and subsequently admitted it), it doesn't take much of a conspiracy theorist to think maybe they are doing it again (or still doing it) when evidence arises which at least raises suspicions that they are.
Seems it would take more a "head in the sand" type to just assume "NO WAY!!! NOT MY GOVERNMENT!!! LA LA LA LA LA LA!!!! I CANNOT HEAR YOU!!!" - chkdg8, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12No sloppy journalism. Just facts. Watch this 6 part video. The Secret Heartbeat of America.

- scorchedearth, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10The CIA has been smuggling drugs for years. Read Michael Ruppert's work. He has some great material.
- morgino, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Donate to Ron Pauls campaign...this wouldn't happen if he wer president because there would be no CIA
- ISIfunded911, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8I am sure everyone in the CIA knows that their official budget is supplemented with drug money, and all kinds of illegal money.
The CIA is the largest organization in charge of recycling drug money into Wall Street, the US economy, and the pockets of many people, like H.W. Bush. - escheriv, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Now that's original. ( http://www.xkcd.com )
- imusingtehdigg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7http://dir.salon.com/story/news/feature/2004/10/25 ...
this wouldn't be the first time the CIA/US GOV has done this. there is a Congressional Report referenced in the above article (pg. 5) that confirms government involvement in running cocaine into the US.
while Nancy was appearing on TV to tell Arnold & Dudley to "Just Say No!", Ronnie was flying in tons of cocaine to the US. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8"War on drugs"?.... maybe we should call it as it is "War on competition" .
