- ForumDriv, on 04/18/2009, -0/+23It's a slippery slope, and even though this is happening mostly to immigrants not charged with any criminal activity -- and not tried for anything -- every one should be concerned whether they are immigrants or care about immigration or not.
- clvngodess, on 04/18/2009, -1/+20Scary stuff. And it's easy to collect. I can only imagine the insurance crap that will come out of this. They'll start investigating your health history and likelyhood for various illnesses and then deny you health coverage or charge you even more for coverage of said specific family links to illness. Creepy stuff.
- PterionFracture, on 04/18/2009, -0/+13All your nitrogenous bases are belong to us.
- charlie6969, on 04/19/2009, -0/+11hmmmm wonder if it is unlawful search and seizure to take your DNA if you have never been convicted of a crime.
- bogenvilla, on 04/18/2009, -1/+9Yet another reason to have products that protect your genetic identity... as governments are so quick to catalogue and identify every person all in the name of justice. Once your genetic information is "out there" - there is no stopping insurance companies, employers, and governments from using that private information against you. It is why I find products like DNA Identiguard interesting..

Maybe in the future people will wake up to the fact that big insurance companies are already exploiting this information to deny people coverage for "pre-existing" conditions. And governments are certainly not competent enough to trust - they could easily make a mistake and accidently frame someone... <sarcasm> all because DNA is the "gold standard" and is never wrong! </sarcasm>
As I wait here for the bury brigade to call me a tin-foiled hat loser. - jsmithers, on 04/19/2009, -0/+8Funny, they've been trying the same thing in the UK for a while too. I wonder where else - anyone know? I'd bet Australia and Canada for starters.
Can you say NEW. WORLD. ORDER. ? - mr5150, on 04/19/2009, -0/+3and at what specific time in history did you think he ever did?
- lukedinan, on 04/19/2009, -0/+2no dude youre pretty spot-on in my opinion
- war59312, on 04/19/2009, -1/+3"Federal Bureau of Intelligence"
Epic fail!! - inactive, on 04/19/2009, -0/+2It's all...part of the plan.
- ohreilly, on 04/19/2009, -1/+3Um, the UK is about to backpedal on it. The EU has decided that storing innocent people's DNA is completely wrong (and I agree)
- fracaso089, on 04/19/2009, -1/+3the difference is that if this stuff happened under bush people might actually care enough to oppose it
- inactive, on 04/19/2009, -0/+2Holy *****, do you also believe the Sham-Wow guy? DNA Identity Guard, WTF.
Tin foiler - TheSwashbuckler, on 04/19/2009, -0/+2Well, if the only goal is to catch more criminals we should just throw the Constitution away...

FBI - Federal Bureau of Investigation. Instant credibility kill.
I bet RawStory thinks CIA means Central Investigation Association, FAA is Flying Airplane Agency. - chesterogilvie, on 04/19/2009, -0/+1I'm sure they'll just get rid of all the DNA they already have too.
- iopasd, on 04/19/2009, -1/+2Damn. I hope this power is not abused. It seems Obama has no more respect for the 4th than Bush.
- inactive, on 04/19/2009, -1/+2"the DNA databanks to include legally innocent people will help solve more violent crimes."
Process of elimination is fine for a multiple choice but this is kind of out there. - iopasd, on 04/19/2009, -1/+0You fool, that will never work!
Read the FAQ
"Q. How do I use DNA Identiguard?
A. Your goal is to cover all areas in which DNA samples are collected and tested. Spray DNA Identiguard on your workspace, trash cans, hands, hair, etc. " - ohreilly, on 04/19/2009, -1/+0I'm sure they will, as the EU will probably demand proof that it has been done.
It isn't as though they can do anything sinister with the data they have, as I believe it's not a full genetic profile (this is Digg though, so someone must believe they're going to plant DNA at crime scenes or something utterly ridiculous) - inactive, on 04/19/2009, -5/+1"The Federal Bureau of Intelligence..."

Raw Sewage Story does not even know what "FBI" stands for. Buried. - salstress, on 04/19/2009, -7/+1GOOD! Catch more criminals!!!

What is Digg?
