- DesertDad, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5Typical of the Senator's legislative history, he acts not on a causative factor, but on a symptom. Rather than generating energy, the Democratic leader goes for scalping money from investors, something at which he may be much more comfortable and accomplished. Though speculators are not the paragons of investment, this punative legislation against them simply reduces what efficiency they do bring to the market, and ultimately damages the consumer by reducing energy availability. Typical of many government interventions, that is the exact opposite of what the consumer needs.
Also typical of Reid, his anger at being queried about this is quite telling. He is one big government politician who cannot stand it when citizens find out just how much big government costs. He apparently considers the Fourth Estate his own, and when they question how a tax increase will reduce the price of energy for the consumer, he must feel like a betrayed lover.
His admonition to read English is priceless... . You give 'em heck, Harry. - Stevanoski, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2"...he acts not on a causative factor..." though he is a caustic factor too
