- tgorman103, on 10/12/2007, -3/+56John has no ID with him and is using another name. He has been seen at homeless shelters and soup kitchens. Please, if anyone has any information call me. I am offering a $1000 reward for information that leads to the return of my son.
- Aidenag, on 10/12/2007, -2/+42i digged it for you, ive been in a similar situation with a friend and would have done anything to find him and safe and ok.. I couldnt even imagine it bieng a family member especially a child.
Good luck in your search for your son, i hope you find him doing well and safe. - Phatlip012, on 10/12/2007, -14/+49Some people are just born ass holes I guess
- triath, on 10/12/2007, -12/+39You're right, it's a place to post stupid videos and devices that let you watch porn on a plane.
- DamionFury, on 10/12/2007, -7/+33@SystemError - This is probably one of the best uses I've seen Digg put to ever.
- sm150MP, on 10/12/2007, -9/+31@ joseph
hmmm
swearing then talking about how your gonna go pray... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+26watch porn on a plane? definitely missed that story
but, back to the point of the story, not a bad idea posting on digg, it gets results...kinda like the sidekick guy - tifoco, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18C'mon people. We're talking about ths guy's family.
The LEAST you can do is digg this to keep it up.
Or just don't bury it.
No ones asking you to go to Florida and find him, just asking you to care. - Phatlip012, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20Calm the hell down, if you dont like it then dont Digg it or report it. Keep in mind that this person is missing which means that there family is looking for them (the person that posted this is probably family). Step away from the computer man and take a walk outside because there is more to the world then computers....there are people with problems and sometimes they need help.
- Phatlip012, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Really people, this is dealing with a real life LIVING person...this isnt a story about a new product from apple, try to show a little compasion. You dont have to Digg the story, you can even bury it but lets try to keep in mind that this is involving a real person and there family, no need to be rude about it and pour salt into an open wound with cruel/mean comments.
- Nick22, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18man wtf is with all the ***** on here. What if this guy is telling the truth and it really IS his son. And wtf why is everyone being digged down who is supporting him?
- Phatlip012, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Maybe they just now found Digg?
- gharding, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16"This guy sure looks healthy in the pictures."
Please inform me, oh wise one; what do bi-polar people look like? - mhmm, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19Dugg, hope you find him.
btw stfu andrewr. - maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -8/+20Jesus, its amazing how many rabid ***** stalk Digg. I appologize on behalf of them tgorman :(
- Phatlip012, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18Yet another person that is dis connected from the real world...
- Arrakistor, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18For $1k, why not ask the homeless to find him for you?
- Phatlip012, on 10/12/2007, -10/+21What can I say...Im a softey for things like this.
Dugg - SystemError, on 10/12/2007, -31/+42I am sorry to hear about your son but digg is not missing persons board
- GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11"Dont tell me about the real world. I know people have problems thats life. But Digg isn;t the place to share these problems."
Why not? Digg is what people make it out to be, and there's no reason why the person that posted this shouldn't have tried. If people don't approve of this use of Digg then it won't matter now, will it? No diggs = no front page = no problem
***** it, let the chips fall where they may. Digg is a personal media revolution, each one of us is a journalist and if this helps the lady find her relative then so be it.
Dugg, and if you defile this article I will bury you - GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11This comment was posted by a woman, actually, and she might be his mother. I dugg down the guys who are supporting Tina because they start out their comments by idiot bashing the guys who don't support Tina, which is just as stupid if you ask me. I dugg the ones that are straight and to the point.
- yvovandoorn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12I feel terrible for you, I really do but this was almost 3 years ago. I don't think digg can help anymore. I can't imagine what you are going through, but I don't think this is place.
Good luck. - godares, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12You know what i Support this and I am Digging it I hope you find your son
so for all you haters out there you can go to hell or what ever you want to call it...... - Jicksta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Worthy of a digg I feel.
Sure, there are many, many missing much like John, but only a scarce few Digg readers genuinely both have missing relatives (children, even) and desperately want them to return.
In these rare cases, I think posts such as this improve the entire Digg community spirit, making it more humane. What's more, it's good to show a little compassion and maybe even potentially succeed in helping this man find his son.
Digg it for the community spirit, if anything. :) - Rezzy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Perhaps someone could put together a Myspace bulletin - before the flaming starts, we all know how popular Myspace is and what better a medium to reach across the country in a short while?
I'm gonna put on together...with permission from tgorman103 - wbreim, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10well, what is his medical condition? will he die if he doesnt take his meds? does he need medication to remember things?? whats the deal? He looks like he can take care of himsef so its just a matter of time till you find him...
Anyway I'll keep an eye out for him in the Miami area. - Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11You don't know anything about bipolar disorder, obviously....
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Florida eh? Hope he didn't wind up in Clearwater http://www.xenu.net/archive/hubbandcw/
- johnxstone, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Way to punish them... Good job.
- corneliousjd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7If your loved one... especially a son went missing, you would never give up hope, and wold try everything in eartly existance.
- corneliousjd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Dugg, reposted on blogs and such, good luck in your search, I can't begin to imagine how this is for you.
PS. Everybody should digg this story to get it to be a top story (usually those are all I look at.) - curtissthompson, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11How does a story like this on digg...get buried?! I am sorry, but this is shameless unjustifiable action by the digg community! It is hateful comments and burrying of this story by the community like this that makes me ashamed of digg's user base! If actions like this go on or increase, I'm leaving digg.
- Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Jesus Christ man, you are the kind of person who runs through the cancer wing of a hospital yelling "YALL GOT CANCER AND YALL GONNA DIE! LOL LMAO ROFL!!!!1111!" I swear, if I knew where you lived I would follow you all day shouting "YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING, YOU'RE HOPELESS AND PATHETIC, WHY DON'T YOU GO AND DIE!" and we would see how you like it. Scumbag!
- returnofmalv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I love all of this false empathy. Like most Americans really gives a *****.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+21Well your asking for help now, hes been gone for 3 years?
- Phatlip012, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8@ dayz I know but still...no need to call it BS, people go missing
- Phatlip012, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Dude were not pissed about the fact if you digg it or not...its the mean/cruel comments...
- macguy815, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6No one is making you read the comments....
- RoshanK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4People have to quit being ignorant and take a moment to think about it. If it was your son or some one very close to you that went missing wouldn't you be out there trying to find him. Especially this persons son is bi-polar it makes it even worse. I could picture the very horrible scenes in my mind on what could happen if my child or relative went missing. And mind you I am only 16 years old. So I don't care if you are younger or older but don't be a heartless bastard. Be a little human once in a while and at least give them some support. And if you still don't feel any sympathy for this person I recommend you try to shut up before you are in the same situation. Remember what goes around comes around.
- rkuchiki, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I think alot of the comments on this submission is enough evidence that the comment system should just be removed from digg completely, limiting people to either approve of it (Digg it) or ignore it (don't digg, move on).
/. has cocky *****, and digg just has flat out *****. (I don't speak of everyone, if you feel offended by this comment though, you probably are one :P) - reject, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6You know, I was thinking of posting about 'Digg Nazis', too, but you've beaten me to it.
Digg is about helping others. If it were not, then people would not be posting stories to be Dugg by others; users would not be sifting through news sites, or personal sites, or video sites, and posting what they believe to be relevant to more than themselves. Digg is a community. I, personally, am new to this community, but that's the great thing about communities-- you grow, you expand, you evolve. Digg, at its core, is a site based on and based around helping others find relevant information. If that means posting about a single missing person, a person who may, however unlikely or likely, know a single user on Digg who sees this posting, then why not applaud the try/the effort?
If, because of your inclinations, have to attack a poster, a submitter to this free site, this site based around the assumption that news and personal sites and, now, humor and video sites, are relevant to others, then are you not but defeating the initial purpose? "Here, I found this interesting! Click here to see the issue at hand." You either click or you don't; do not disapprove the submission and leave the submission a tirade of comments with no use to the original post. I am all for debate, from all 360 degrees of an issue, but, please, if you are debating the usage of a site to help a family find their missing member, you should think of your own family and their reaction to a member missing (please, leave the penis jokes alone).
P.S.
Sorry for the rant. - Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Dugg, isn't this a real tribute to how digg can simply do more than any traditional news source.
- DarkSorrow, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6@wbreim, we understand it a joke, but it total insulting and rude. this person is looking for the son.
- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Wow, you people are nuts, really. This belongs on digg as much as anything else does.
I'm about ready to leave digg and simply listen to the diggnation podcast. At least then I'd get the digg topics without dealing with the unintelligent users in the comment system. - i3eergod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Ok....I didn't read more than the first 20 comments; but I had to stop and add a comment.
The person who posted this is obviously very desperate. So, although this may not be the most appropriate venue to post missing persons information, we can still cut this person some slack. If you all are so ticked-off because this isn't tech-geek news, then just don't digg and/or comment on the store. Making fun of the situation, however, is just depraved.
Personally, I would use any conceivable resources at my disposal if my daughter went missing; and if that means posting her missing person poster on Hot or Not dot com just to get her info out there, then I would do it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Ive posted this on a few forums. Again I wish you luck I cant imagine how hard this is for you.
- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3They're realistic, but they obviously want to find him and help him. He's homeless because without his medications he's not in the right state of mind. In other words, he doesn't HAVE to be homeless. If his family could find him, he could get help, and get off the streets.
You're right. Your opinions are realistic. But they're also misguided! - GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dugg, for the part about the *****, not the part about the removal of the comment system. If you ask me, the comment system is actually working quite well
