18 plants is hardly a grow operation... AT ALL...
At least half of those plants, would probably have turned out to be males and useless, so he'd only end up with 9 plants worth of harvest. Which is little more than personal use quantities, especially if it was for medical purposes. - Amythystnights, on 05/22/2008, -1/+56 years is a little harsh just for growing some plants. But it is illegal. :shrug:

This story didn't say whether he had a jury trial (I presume he didn't since he pleaded guilty) but if he had the jury should have been informed that they can judge the laws, as well as the facts of the case.
