- Sonan, on 02/03/2009, -0/+295I'm sending this story to Mythbusters.
- muxaulo, on 02/03/2009, -4/+225Don't use Chinese made batteries that have been charged in Chinese made battery chargers that are then placed into Chinese made cell phones that are then placed into ones pockets.
- RunDiggMC, on 02/03/2009, -2/+136Wow, the thought of an exploding cell phone is terrifying, especially since I keep mine in my front pocket.
- nem0, on 02/03/2009, -0/+112Especially if one's shirt was made in China.

- Efilnikufesin, on 02/03/2009, -1/+60*puts cell phone on table and slowly inches away*
- diggface5000, on 02/03/2009, -0/+58From the tips: "Do not make or answer calls when the phone is charging "
Is this true because I do this all the time?! How is it more dangerous than plugging in your laptop and using it? - leapingstan, on 02/03/2009, -1/+51"Avoid long phone conversations", heck yeah.
- bnorman, on 02/03/2009, -2/+48Buster's not going to enjoy this myth.

- nabor605, on 02/03/2009, -1/+35And also if you're Chinese.
- crushfan, on 02/03/2009, -0/+33I experienced something similar -- my cellphone's battery exploded while it was charging. Me and some friends were staying together that night, four of them were sleeping in the living room where I left my phone plugged. In the morning one of those friends woke me up yelling "Dude, what the hell, your cell exploded!" I jumped out of the bed and went to the room to see all of my friends half awake with their "WTF" face on, one of them was jumping on small pieces of fire on carpet... The phone was a Nokia 7250i, and its battery was actually Chinese. (Not the one came with the cell of course, it was a spare one I bought from some random tech shop after original one died)
Oh, and by the way, the phone survived. Yeah, I used it for half a year after that accident then eventually bought another one. - apmtt, on 02/03/2009, -1/+34Chances are it wouldn't work at first so they'd just strap some explosives to the neck of a ballistic gel dummy and blow its head off.
- adrenalmedulla9, on 02/03/2009, -2/+33You mean your wife's?
- bluesatin, on 02/03/2009, -1/+31Considering this has happened something like 9 times ever, (and only in China may I add, where the worse quality batteries go) the chances are pretty damn slim.

- rhinovalley, on 02/03/2009, -0/+26I thought they debunked whether or not a cell phone could ignite gasoline fumes while at the gas pump. I'm not sure about exploding cell phones.
- trs21219, on 02/03/2009, -0/+26thats smart.... use a cell phone that already tried to kill itself and burn down a house...

- fjsferreira, on 02/03/2009, -0/+22Writing an article like this and don't reveal what cell phone it was is of no value to anyone.
Now everybody thinks his cell phone could explode at anytime. - Alheithinn, on 02/03/2009, -1/+22Nine of these incidents in China since 2002. I have never heard of it happening in the US so I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
