Iran will hit back if Israel attacks: Hezbollah
reuters.com — BEIRUT (Reuters) - Israel will be targeted by thousands of rockets if it attacks Iran, a senior official in the Tehran-backed group Hezbollah said on Sunday. There has been speculation that either the United States or Israel could attack Iran's...

- RightHand, on 08/25/2008, -0/+4"Sheetrit , vying to take over the reins from outgoing PM, has struck caution on Iran in his campaign for the ruling Kadima party's leadership.
He said: "Israel must on no account attack Iran, speak of attacking Iran or even think about it … Israel must defend itself only if attacked by Iran, but attacking Iran on our own initiative is a megalomaniacal [and] reckless idea."
Former Mossad chief Halevy also struck alarm bells against calls to bomb Iran. He warned that an attack could hurt Israel's interests for a century. "It will have a negative effect on public opinion in the Arab world." The ex-intelligence chief's opinion is that Israel wins anyway. "Ahmadinejad is our greatest gift," he told the US-sponsored Arabic-language network al-Hurra on Tuesday. "We couldn't carry out a better operation at the Mossad than to put a guy like Ahmadinejad in power in Iran."
... JPost- dkapuchino, on 08/25/2008, -1/+1Kudos to Israel. Multiple opinions, democratic methods of making decisions, and attempts to predict the outcomes of their actions. True responsibility. We can only wish our own government will one day work the same.
To counter these claims, one might justly argue that Israel has attacked both the Iraqi and the Syrian nuclear reactors, neither leading to war. Why should this be any different.
One might even go on and remind everyone that the first country to ever attack another countries nuclear reactor was actually Iran - attacking Iraq's nuclear reactor in the early 80s.

- downs1, on 08/25/2008, -1/+2The problem is that Ahmadinejad is foolish. He blares forth all kinds of inflammatory rhetoric. This tends to rile up the Islamic world. If it appears that he is about ready to loose something on Israel, I doubt that Israel will stand idly by and let it happen. The United States in recent years has a poor record of really stepping up and defending its allies unless there is some other tangential benefit involved. I can't help but think that the stage is being set for the prophecy in Ezekiel 38-39. If Israel attacked Iran's nuclear facilities, it is doubtful that Iran would retaliate with nukes. The radioactive fall out would harm Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Yemen, It is more reasonable to believe that a coalition of Islamic nations would mount a massive offensive against Israel and this would set the stage for the destruction as recorded in Ezekiel. Conventional missiles would probably be used if these sites are still operational after an Israeli attack. Whatever happens, Israel will survive!
