- stevensj2, on 05/22/2009, -3/+19What has this got to do with the article?
Was the woman gay, or were her victims gay?
Otherwise, I'm not real sure why homosexuality needs to be included. - inactive, on 05/22/2009, -2/+13are you talking about Sadam Hussein?
I have to agree with you, because I was looking forward to know what he had to say about his whole dictatorship. Maybe he would have written a book... ah! I wonder... what could he tell us.
But it is too late. Silenced. - alanocu, on 05/22/2009, -14/+24In Iran, the punishment for committing multiple murders, as this woman has done, is the same for a gay man guilty of nothing other than loving another human being, that happens to be a male.
- pintomp3, on 05/22/2009, -1/+11Until the justice system is perfected, we will be executing potentially innocent people. Ever year there are people who are released from prison, some even from death row, who's cases were overturned. You can't undo an execution.
- JBregard, on 05/22/2009, -3/+13Maybe because a life is worth more than your tax dollars ?
- JasonCox, on 05/22/2009, -7/+17You take a life, you forfeit your own. Pretty simple.
- JeffRyemon, on 05/22/2009, -0/+9...She fed old people..fruit juice?
- ZincSaucier, on 05/22/2009, -2/+11When will they loosen up in give women equal serial murder privileges?
- pathouston22, on 05/22/2009, -12/+20Why should the government waste my tax dollars feeding and housing a criminal for 30, 40, 50 years?
- Katana, on 05/22/2009, -2/+10In the USA because of the right to appeal, death row and the execution method itself, it costs more to execute someone than to keep them for life in prison.
- Chooxo, on 05/22/2009, -2/+10If you're gay in Iran, you may as well go out killin'.
- pintomp3, on 05/22/2009, -10/+18Capital punishment is barbaric. The government should not be in the murder business.
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -0/+6The punishment might actually fit the crime for once.
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -8/+14Iranian Woman + Serial Killer = Hot
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -1/+7Me, I hate the wire ones btw- all bendy and *****.
- lothar250, on 05/22/2009, -1/+6*she
- jennyvan, on 05/22/2009, -0/+5containing anesthetics...then she strangled them. I thought that was kind of weird. Was she concerned with lessening their pain? Why anesthetize them? Meh...maybe she just didn't want them fighting back.
How considerate of her. /sarcasm. - kingmanic, on 05/22/2009, -2/+6pathouston22: Do you trust the government with your money? If the answer is no, how can you trust them with someones life?
- plainOldFool, on 05/22/2009, -2/+6Or a journalist
- thecoolestguy, on 05/23/2009, -0/+4Is there actually any evidence that Iran hangs gay people?
- legofish, on 05/22/2009, -1/+5better story at the Guardian:
Iran arrests 'Agatha Christie serial killer'
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/may/21/iran-a ... - Chooxo, on 05/22/2009, -0/+4What the heck? That explanation is miles away from the explanation in the Telegraph article, which says she was killing because she hates her mother.
Seems more that she was killing because she was strapped for cash, and loved crime novels:
""Mahin in her confessions has said that she has been taking patterns from Agatha Christie books and has been trying not to leave any trace of herself," Mohammad Baqer Olfat, the Qazvin prosecutor, told Iranian journalists.
Mahin, who it is claimed also admitted the earlier murders of her former landlord and an aunt, is said to have carefully chosen her victims, targeting elderly and middle-aged women and offering them lifts home after picking them up at shrines in the city where they had been praying.
Police said she confessed in custody to killing four such women in Qazvin since January, claiming to have been driven by a desperate need for money after chalking up debts of more than £16,000. After offering her victims a lift, Mahin allegedly gave them fruit juice which she had spiked with an anaesthetic to knock them out. She would then suffocate them before stealing their jewellery and other possessions and dumping the bodies in secluded spots. One victim was beaten to death with an iron bar after regaining consciousness." - down4twenty, on 05/22/2009, -0/+3im pretty sure killing is against islam
- vulpescry, on 05/22/2009, -4/+7Since when did they care about what happens to women?
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -1/+4Yeah they usually let off female serial killers with a slap on the wrist and some milk an cookies.
- r0g3r, on 05/22/2009, -1/+4Well, I bet they must be proud.
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -2/+5For me, its the logic that as a population, we grant freedom to each individual, therefore we can take it away from the individual if we choose to as a whole, however we never provide life, therefore we should not have the right to take away life.
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -1/+3What's wrong about this is there's no information in the article about a trial. We just have the word of the police. Are you comfortable assuming police in Iran are acting in total fairness at all times?
- mstachiw, on 05/22/2009, -2/+4IRAN... but they didn't! Mwouahahahahaaaauh!
- iranian, on 05/22/2009, -2/+4Hijab doesn't cover their faces. Search for 'hijab' in Google image search.
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -1/+3Damn this is why you don't teach them to read.
- WhiskeyThieves, on 05/22/2009, -3/+5Iranian official got a confession after days interrogation which included starvation, sleep deprivation, and beatings.
- JarOfEyeballs, on 05/22/2009, -1/+3They're probably already preparing a crane on the town square to hang her
- Talphin, on 05/22/2009, -2/+4A female serial killer in Iran, I would have expected to see a woman's rights activist going around killing abusive, wife beating Islamic men or something, but killing a bunch of old ladies? She's nuts.
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2She liked to kill old women, so you're safe. I bet she's a hellcat in the sack.
- adorkable81, on 05/22/2009, -0/+2.. until she put you on a choke hold
oh wait, it's kinda hot - camaroz06, on 05/22/2009, -5/+6A female murder in Iran...talk about being *****.
- SpaceRibs, on 05/22/2009, -4/+4Burka + Mugshot = FAIL
- lies03, on 05/22/2009, -2/+2A life for a life. Whats wrong about this? They should open the way they punish people. I heard back in the day, don't know where, 1 leg would be tied to 1 horse, and the other let to an other horse. Then the horses would run in different direction, and you know the rest. Or maybe it was a dream.
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -1/+2in texas she would not be hanged, just killed.
- forthekicks, on 06/30/2009, -0/+0Whats the bet her punishment will be/was less severe then that of the 16 year old girl Atefah Sahaaleh hung for having sex before marriage
- anonymousmedic, on 05/23/2009, -1/+1I'm kind of curious if she's the actual perpetrator, or if they got that confession through their "enhanced interrogation" techniques. Even then, it's not like anyone falsely confesses for fame or anything. This whole story stinks, expecially the Modus Operandi. Female Serial killers often don't chose women, even if they were the abuser. Often, they kill men.
- SirCharge, on 05/24/2009, -0/+1She's a pioneer seeking to break into the male dominated serial killer profession. Break through that glass ceiling baby.
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -2/+2except in Iran... the trial might very well be based more on whether she's a good Muslim girl rather than any evidence related to the crimes. It's not pretty simple...
- vxz90044, on 05/22/2009, -0/+1I would of thought so too, but old people seems to more of a sanctification.
